GDC 08: Fable 2 takes shape

360 News | With some freshly acquired screenshots.

Microsoft has released the latest images of Fable 2, the RPG from Lionhead Studios which has been in development for quite a while now.

The latest images look rather polished, but so they should be, with Microsoft also announcing that Fable 2 will be out by the end of the year, which is quite surprising considering we haven't heard too much about the title in recent times. The images can be found in the media panel.

I'm glad Fable 2 is (seemingly) getting closer to completion. I really enjoyed the first one, even though it fell a long way short of it's promises, and the new direction of the second really appeals to me. The whole leap forward in time, now we have guns and things are ever so slightly steam-punkish (hopefully), but there is still room for swashbuckling adventurers and wacky mustaches thing... love it!.

The screenshots are looking quite lovely too, I just hope that this time they can get it running at a stable framerate to complement the natty visuals.

Its looking very nice, i love the fairytale (fable, duh :s) style of it. I enjoyed the first one too, i hope they can put a bit more depth into this one, the other one had some good idea's but most just didnt affect the gameplay much if at all.

This is looking good. It's also more great news that Microsoft *are* ready for this year and do have some big guns to pull out. I'm very pleased to hear this and GOW2 are 2008 releases.

The videos on gametrailers are looking pretty neat too. Sounds like there is going to be quite a bit of the Sims thrown into this (ie get a job, buy a house, raise a family, etc).

I've decided Fable 2 is an info blackout worthy game. I've yet to see a single screenshot or read a scrap of news and I plan on keeping it that way till release. I've managed it before, why not again? It'll be fun...

Okay I admittedly have no real love for the Xbox console but it's games like this that make me go "GIMMIE ONE NOW"
I wonder how long the PC version will take... *cough* Halo 2 PC *cough*

PC version will probably be released along side the first DLC pack so they can slap on the box "FABLE 2 + ALL NEW CRAP...IT"S THE DEAL OF THE CENTURY!"

No way! Microsoft's marketing team would never do that! They are respectable, honest and decent people...
