Call of Duty: Modern Warfare downloadable maps on the way

360 News | Coming for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
Activision has confirmed that downloadable maps for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare are currently in development for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Apparantly the upcoming content will "thrust gamers into a hot zone of added combat across a variety of intense multiplayer locales."

“We’ve demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content,” explains Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, Robert Bowling. “We’re excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can’t wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone.”

Pricing details, a possible release date and further information on the downloadable maps weren't confirmed by Activision, we'll let you know when they let us know more about the downloadable content.

Awesome. I'm starting to get a bit bored of CoD4 since I hit 55. The maps are just all getting stale for me. So this will be good. Can't wait till they come out.

they probably don't mention it since the maps will be released via a patch, whereas console players will be suckered into paying for them.

Indeed. Though prioritising the server hosting is far more important than new maps. 1-3 seconds of lag makes for some horrendously frustrating online gaming.
