No new XBLA games this week

360 News | Silly Undertow...
Major Nelson has reported that for the first time in a very long time, there will be no new Xbox Live Arcade games available for download on the Xbox 360 this week.

This is due to the fact that gamers will be able to download XBLA game Undertow free of charge in response to the issues with Xbox Live that occurred over the Christmas break. If you already own Undertow, you are encouraged to contact the Xbox Australia support line who should sort you out.

So it looks like next week will be the release of Rez HD along with Chessmaster Live. So it's not all bad - after all, a free game isn't necessarily a terrible replacement for a new game, is it?

I just checked and Undertow still costs 800 points. By "Wednesday 23rd" they obviously meant in North American. We will probably have to wait until late tonight or tomorrow.

Well the new games/XBLA update never first thing in the morning so it's no surprise. By tonight it will be all set up for free.

Even more important is the fact that Rez HD is next week! It's finally here! Ever since this was announced I've waited week after week for this to be dated. Now drop Ikuragua and XBLA will be totally full of win.

Uhh, is it me or does no one else get how giving a free game out pushes them back so they cant put a new game out? I dont care about delays, but this cant be the cause.

Unless i missed something.

... it's a free game ... why complain, exactly?

Of course. Thanks for bringing a brain to the table Obsolete. I blame that fact that I'm at work for me thinking 2am wednesday was 2am thursday.

Can't complain about a free arcade game. Besides, I'm still playing COD4, Halo 3, Assasin's Creed, Bioshock and Mass Effect. When do we have time to look at XBLA? icon_wink.gif

Im not bothered about the delays, and the free game is nice, but i was just wondering about what might have really been going on, probably nothing.

Makes enough sense to me: If everyone is downloading a free game and giving that their attention then any game launching alongside that runs the risk of being ignored and left by the wayside. Profits first, and all that.
