Xbox 360 sells over 300,000 units in Australia

360 News | Microsoft celebrates a record year.
Microsoft's Australian PR agency has sent out an email update today highlighting some of the successes of its Xbox 360 in 2007.

First up is news that the Xbox 360 has now sold over 300,000 units in Australia, with two million games sold and 520,000 accessories run off store shelves. According to Microsoft, Australian consumers spent more money on Xbox 360 products in 2007--including hardware, software and accessories--than on any other next-generation platform.

Australians also purchased more units of Xbox 360 products, including hardware, software and accessories than for any other next-generation platform. Third-party publishers also sold more software on Xbox 360 than on both other next-generation platforms combined.

Halo 3 was also the best selling game across all console formats during 2007, selling over 120,000 copies since its launch in September 2007. The best selling Xbox 360 games however, were Halo 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, and Forza Motorsport 2.

Or waiting one more week for more DS's and Wii's to sell and over take Microsoft. Maybe

Let's see:

No hardware shortages; check.
Large library of games; check.
Controllers, play and charge kits, headsets, points, hard drives, keyboards, VGA cables; check.

I can see why Microsoft would say that.
