Radiant Silvergun. My parents got it off the net for me when I first got my Sega Saturn. I probably wouldn't sell it anytime soon, because I know if I do, I will regret it because its such a good game.
I also have all the Final Fantasy's for PSONE, all sealed.
Plus many more.

Rare games...
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
Skies of Arcadia
Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 and 2
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Kirby's Fun Pack (SNES)
Harvest Moon (SNES)
I could also go over my Uncle's NES collection (Matt knows what I'm talking about) he has a pretty good range of games. _________________

I have a collection of Neo Geo Pocket games, including the reasonably rare english version of "Faselei!", Pal copies of Suikoden 1 and 2, a terrible rurouni kenshin ps1 game and the Ico LE box... That's about it, nothing really good. One of my friends has a copy of Radiant Silvergun sitting untouched in a box but he won't let me have it -_- _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

Not many of which are really rare - the dogbone controllers are probably the only thing that'd get anything over 10 bucks. _________________ Retro Gaming Australia

Crusing USA (I'm not sure if it's considered Rare) on the N64 and Bomberman 64 as well.
But I doubt they'd be considered rare.

That's one game which has been on my wishlist for ages and I've yet to see this title available, ever in stores. As for the topic, the most rare game in my collection would be Resident Evil Zero in Player's Choice form. Saw the game once at my local EB Games store, picked it up and never saw another copy to this day. _________________

I have my fair share now I suppose, although there are still heaps or rare games that I'd love to one day own. Whether I do actually manage it or not, well who knows. I certainly hope so though.
Anyhoo:
- Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life (GCN)
- Ikaruga (GCN)
- Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GCN) (well, it is sorta rare. A lot of people have hassles finding it...)
- Final Fantasy VII (PSX)
- Final Fantasy VIII (PSX) (both reasonably rare to find these days again, basically because everyone bloody owns them)
- Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (PS2)
- ICO: Limited Edition (PS2)
- Phantom Brave (PS2)
- Beyond Good and Evil (Xbox)
- Shenmue II (Xbox) (not sure just how rare this title is, have only heard that it was rare...)
- Full Throttle: All American Racing (SNES) (I assume this is rare considering I have never seen anyone else with it)
- Harvest Moon (SNES)
- The Flintstones: Treasure of Seirra Madrock (SNES) (again, haven't seen anyone else with this game)
Well that is it. I hope the games I have listed are indeed rare, and if they aren't please don't hurt me too much.
Still won't be happy until certain games are in my collection though. _________________

No I know that all of them weren't rare just at least one or two of them had to be.
Dogbone controllers ey? You'll have to show me one time when I actually return his NES which I've had for 3 years. _________________

Im not sure how rare it is, I have only seen 1 copy of it before. _________________

ICO Limited Edition, Rez, Duke Nukem Forever.
I think that about covers it...
I've also got a whole bunch of discontinued games like Space Channel 5 and Rogue Leader but then again, so does everybody else. _________________

Judge the rareness for yourselves because even I am not too sure.
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow (DS)
Super Star Wars (SNES)
Vib Ribbon (PSOne)
Parappa the Rapper (PSOne)
Vagrant Story (PSOne)
FFVI (PSOne) I guess 7-9 could be considered rareish too
Chrono Cross (PSOne) never released in this country
Final Fantasy Chronicles (PSOne) Chrono Trigger and FFIV. Also never released in this country
Omega boost (PSOne)
Grandia (PSOne)
Ghost in the Shell (PSOne)
Operation Winback (N64)
Parodius (SNES)
Secret Of Evermore (SNES)
Solstice (NES)
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Ninja Gaiden 2 (NES)
Gun Smoke (NES)
and my pride and joy
Gunstar Heroes (megadrive)
Theres probably more (and some of the titles posted may not in fact be rare), but I can't be bothered anymore
[edit] It's probably easier to just post my games collection. Although its far from complete (still got about 150 games to add to it)

Yeah fair enough. While i *could* sit here and argue that in this particluar case ico is more 'sort after' rather than truly 'rare', i won't .
I do forget sometimes how old the ps2 is....i guess some of it's early release games would be getting quite scarce nowadays.Though gc(and ds, kicky, castlevania DS is still only a bub!) i'd be hard pressed to think of any rare games for it atm.
Oh and Nismo, twin snakes USED to be hard to find but it was re-released (in pal at least) and is pretty easy to come by now. _________________

Let me see...
ICO Limited Edition (French)
Shadow Warriors (GB)
Shadow Warriors II (NES)
Street Gangs (aka River City Ransom) (NES)
Gradius (NES)
Saturn Bomberman
Panzer Dragoon
Lemmings (SNES)
Super Bomberman (SNES)
Super Bomberman 2 (SNES)
Super Star Wars (SNES)
Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (SNES)
Ikaruga (GCN)
But then again, every game I have just listed (and the ones everyone else listed) is readily available on ebay, so what constitutes RARE? I know not that many people have these games I guess... at least not many I know... _________________

I to have quite a few games in my possession (no where near as much as Jibbs, or KinckyFunkFresh mind you) and i have been questioning the same thing, what games are considered rare?
In my search on google and other search engines i came across this site:
http://www.stageselect.com/browse.aspx
It has proven quite useful in details on rareness etc., but i don't know how recent the site is, so i will leave it up to you to judge

No need to wait;
Regular NES Pad
Dogbone NES Pad
The dogbone pads were released at about the same time as the top loading NES was released.
A lot of you seem to be mistaking the status of certain games. There's a difference between games which are rare, and games which are highly sought after. Of course if you're thinking about this in a "what could I get for it on Ebay" mindset, you've got to remember that not all rare games are necessarily good/in demand, and not all games fetching high prices are necessarily rare.
| Quote: | | Shenmue II (Xbox) (not sure just how rare this title is, have only heard that it was rare...) |
Absolutely not rare on the Xbox Even the PAL Dreamcast version isn't that rare - but the demand surrounding the title (well, at the time, the Xbox version cooled the DC version down quite a bit) was what drove the price. Simple economics.

There's almost no such thing as a rare game that's also a good game. I could list off some famous 'rare' games I have (Dracula X, etc), but they're not actually rare at all, they had runs of at least a million each. They're simply in demand on english speaking ebay - you can pick up Silvergun in used game shops in Japan for under $50. (If anyone's going sometime soon, pick me one up, eh? - I love that game!).
Real rare games are usually small time, non famous stuff, like Dreamcast shooters with production runs of only 2000, or obscure Famicom dating sims. So they're not really very exciting.
Sorry people who listed NES games - but none of the NES games listed so far in this list are even remotely rare. Jibbs Ufouria may be the closest. And anything cart only doesn't even really count as having the game from a collector's perspective.

I dunno about Games...but would the OSTs to FFVI/VII/VIII/IX be considered rare, they were quite hard to dig up.
Oh, and Yasunori Mitsuda's remix collection to Chrono Trigger/Cross: Brink of Time _________________

Faselei is good! There were only about 2500 copies released, they do appear fairly regularly. I'm with Jibbs on the current games though, even the previous generation really. Rare to me means there wasn't many copies released in the first place. By that definition PAL versions of quite a few games are rare (castlevania DS maybe?) I don't think any FF game could be considered rare, there are millions of copies out there ^^;

Seriously, you're a little bit too nitpicky sometimes. The games most people have listed are not readily available in stores, and coupled with fetching high prices on ebay, this actually makes them rare. Granted, 10,000 people might have the game in their collection, but if only 25 copies are available on ebay or in shops worldwide, that's pretty rare.
Also, cart only is still having the game. The question asked is "rare games you own", not "rare games you have in complete and perfect condition". Let us have a bit of fun with the thread. _________________
