^ Bingo!
Adz..While this is true, it leaves them looking a little too flat and life less. That is a classic pose for Sephiroth, sure... but with plain coloured font and black background the only colours is his hair and minimal skin... I think it's coming along but I wouldn't consider that complete.
And.. Does anyone else agree Mek's new sig would be more awesome if it were bigger? _________________

Fixed for you Cro
admeister: with regards to the black backgrounds, try playing around with gradients to get a middle ground. It'll look a bit better.
Alternatively, make the image that you are using the only part of the image, so you needn't bother about making a background to match it.

Well, I had a shot at working in a background (but as I originally found, the logo just doesn't work with it):

There's no real need to have the logo in the signature.
With your beta signature, the line becomes unnecessary. With a border it will also look a lot better

OK, fair enough, I could take out the line and give it a border. After I made that post I kept working on it, this one isn't too bad, I was having a go at the gradients like was suggested:

i think, rather than using the full image of sephy for the background, give it a go with just his wing.
i don't know how it'll turn out, but i have a feeling it'll look pretty sweet.
and as a matter of pure pedantry, isn't Sephy supposed to be Left-handed, with his wing on his right shoulder? if so, your image needs flipping. _________________

OK, I'll try the wing idea, though it might not be large enough to take up the whole space. And yes, his wing is supposed to be on his left side, I purposefully flipped the image since it didn't work the other way, the two sephiroths overlapped.
Here's a version with a border and no line:
And one where I thought an outline looked kind of cool:

i still don't know about the logo though, why not put your name there, instead of in the top corner?
and like i said, Sephy's Left handed, so maybe flip his image, then try the name like i said.
EDIT: actually, now i think about it, i don't know if moving your name would work. it'd leave a bit of a gap above Sephy, which might look weird. perhaps the logo there? i dunno.
EDIT:

i actually think i prefer it with the line, but i think it needs to go behind the larger Sephy's head, not over it.
(it's easy being a critic when you suck at the creating )
bleh, yeah i keep editing this post as more things pop into my head. by the time you've replied, there'll probably be another dozen suggestions from me alone _________________

I felt like screwing around in Photoshop but needed something to focus on. Luckily I remembered this thread and how people sent out sig requests so I got to work.
Like I said, I was just screwing around. I never really intended this to be used or anything so peruse at your lesuire
Oh, and I ran out of creative juice so there's no matching avatar. I'll get around to it, if only to feel like I properly finished the set.
EDIT: Ok so I did the avatar...

That is looking pretty damned good, much better than the other efforts IMO (especially the ones with the red borders... sorry, I really hate them). I think that if you added a 1px black border around the edge of the sig, moved you name 2-3px down and left (a smidge away from the edge), and put a subtle black to dark-blue gradient behind seph and the wing (just so you can see the profile of sephs body a little bit)then you'd be set.
Good work man, you're getting a lot better. _________________

Ask and you shall receive..
That's the character you wanted? (memory bit hazy when it comes to a few things). Also may be updating it soon.

Thanks for the avatar Bigm, I love it.

OK Karai, I'm trying out your idea which sounds quite good. I've moved the text like you said, and I've been trying to get the Gradient to work, I can do the black bit OK, but I'm having trouble getting dark blue on the bottom.
I stumbled across this while I was working:
I'm also not sure about the border, I can only seem to make ones inside the image.
Edit: Well, looks like I've managed to get the gradient working, it was nice blue colour but when I save it for web it turns purplish for some reason. It doesn't look all that bad though..

The easiest way to create a simple border around the limits of a canvas is with the stroke tool (at least, thats the easiest way I know of).
1. Create a new layer (on top of the other layers) and name it 'Border'.
2. Click and drag a selection box around the whole canvas
3. Right click on the selection tool (top-right in the tools palette)
4. Choose 'stroke'
5. Choose your colour, thickness, and then select 'inside' so that it creates the border inside of the selction box rather than outside it
6. Click 'ok' and you should have a border on a new layer
Hope that helps. _________________

since this would probably be a good place to ask a question relating to sig/ava since alot of people continue to check this thread out.
I was wondering what method would a person use to make graphics that seen in Phoenix wright, not the style i'm talking about i'm talking more about the (pixelated texture) that the picture gives. If it can be done in PSCS2 then that is a bonus, As mentioned the reference to phoenix wright I'm planning on somehow constructing similar images to use as an avatar/sig thinkinga bout creating self character in that type of series if that makes sense.
Anyway any help would be appreciated. _________________

Thanks. I reckon the sig actually looks pretty good with a fadeout to red, so I gave it a shot:
I'll try a border now.

A Decepticon?
That's Strascream, THE decepticon.No-one plays the power game dirtier then starscream
I like it cap, except for the big chunky d symbol in the middle, maybe it needs to be smaller or something different altogether.Maybe the user's username in the centre with starscream exploding out from either side like he is now. _________________

Since Answer still doesn't have a sig, I decided to make a new more dynamic one:
Your idea of having the logo in centre interested me Capoeria, so I decided to do my own version, which I think looks great. _________________

That's a nice layout, but i don't like the pics used for the transfomers.U can barely see optimus, he's really squashed in there and ...bumblebee?, the one on the left, i can't really make out at all, and it's too close up again.
Find some better pics, especially of optimus, one NOT looking at him from beneath. It's an odd angle.
Try to copy cap's style, he nailed it, a nice bust shot of starscream on the right and almost a full length shot of him in jet form on the left. _________________

@ Charly
Cheers! I've also got to admit I know very little about Transformers... I missed that train as a kid. I do know however that Decepticons kick Autobot ass. I hope I didn't just open a can of worms...
@ Jibbs
Yeah I agree the symbol is a bit too prominent, but if I were to shrink it, I'd run into problems with the pseudo-transparency. I needed the edges of the symbol to reach the top and bottom ends of the sig for that effect to work. Well, it kinda works... I'll try playing around with it and see what I can do.
Plus, I'm not really too big a fan of usernames in sigs which is why I hid it back there.
@admeister
Aw, what happened? I liked the simplicity of your original set. It had class. It just needed a few layout nudges and it would have been great. _________________

OK, I'm glad you liked it. Any suggestions on those layout nudges? I couldn't think of much else to do with it. I suppose I could put in a gradient background and some better text.
Edit: Here's a spiced up version:

Actually, I was referring to your Sephiroth set
Also, I think you've got to use those gradient's sparingly. I don't really like the gradient effect, they alway remind of powerpoint presentations. I hate powerpoint presentations. Too many bad memories... _________________

Hahaha, yes! Gradients and Bevels! Although at least grads can be used to great effect if you're clever about them (and/or subtle), whereas bevels just tend to look horrible where ever they're used.
Ahh, I really don't miss Powerpoint presentations... _________________
