the season one boxset is now available to preorder at ezydvd, for release on the 30th of November...

$90AUD is a bit much compared to many other series of late though (Deadwood was $40, Battlestar Galactica was $50), i'll probably wait a few months and watch it get cheaper... afterall, Alias S3 dropped from $90 to $40 in a few weeks...

but i will be getting this sometime...

I think ill be waiting to. Just like I did with Smallville and they came down to $50.

But to be honest I dont know how good the replay value of Lost would be? Considering its all things that you dont know that make it appealing.

i've heard that the ending makes you want to re-watch the whole series and pick up on the clues...

so replayability is high, at least for 1 replay...

besides, i spend a lot of my time lending tv series to people to convert them, and Lost was VERY hard to get someone into if they had missed the first few episodes...

Well, my thoughts on the final... I'd say it was a success. It's definitely made me want to come back for Season 2. That statement in the Season 2 teaser was intriguing - "They are not the survivors they thought they were" oooooooo ...ominous. And that crew of people taking Walt, I didn't see that coming. At least we have a better idea of what 'the others' look like, if that was whom those guys where. As for that misty thing... i don't know what to make of that. I just hope the writers don't loose the plot and go all supernatural on us.

February couldn't come sooner. At least it isn't a full year of waiting, it's relatively quick.

Man February is far off! I thought the delay would be a bit smaller..

Anyway, I think the island is somewhat like the Matrix - your there but your not there if you gather me. And what Sun said about the island paying them back for there sins I think is true, someone is - plus there being tested.

But then the whole thing with Walt was really weird, those people wernt French but then again we dont know if theres any other survivors besides the drug crash and the french.

Yep, at the moment I think there in a place that isnt realm and there in a unstable state or are quite possibly already dead. Whats the chances that there in Limbo though? Theres something thats a key to all this but they havent revealed it yet, im sure.

I dunno, Lost seems to be a show which you always guess things but get them wrong most of the time. Like, I spent a hell of a lot of time discussing theories with people about the show (eg. the episode where Boone thought he saw Shannon die), and got about half of them wrong.

With the hatch, it's probably gunna be something so simple that we've all overlooked it, and yet so abnormal that no-one could've guessed it. I think it's gunna have something to do with the monster/security system/whatever...

Also, what do you reckon of the new character's entering the show next year, like Ana-Lucile (seat 42F, talked to Jack at Sydney)? Could make things interesting with the whole Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle.

Can't wait till Feb.

finally got around to watching the final last night (had it on tape)...

funkiness... so the hatch is inaccessible... at least the ladder seems to have rusted away from about 5-10 rungs down... sure they could probably slide down it, but who'd do that without knowing for sure they could get back up again (Locke probably would i guess)

that black smoke/mist thing was kinda crazy... and i don't remember it a great deal, but it looked like what blew up the engine in the very first episode... it was a loooong time ago i know, but does anyone else remember it? the engine was still running and suddenly something flew into it and it blew up... IMO "something" = mist

when Danielle said they weren't interested, but that she heard them saying they were coming for the boy, i thought it was obvious it was Walter they were after... and even before then i wondered if anything else would be made of him... it was implied before that he seemed to have some telekinetic powers or something... remember he "controlled" the polar bear in an earlier episode... just after reading the comic that Hurley had on the plane, which also had a polar bear... spooky...

my guess is the mist is a shape based on what someone in a group is scared of...

as for what the island is... i don't know... initially i thought maybe it was some sort of Truman Show type thing... while nothing has disputed this theory, i doubt this is the case now... perhaps some Matrix thing (like Karl said) or some mass hallucination (Area 51 conspiracy style)

That's some memory you've got there. I sort of remember something flying into the engine now that you mention it.

We still can't rule out that Aaron (A.K.A Turniphead) isn't on 'the others' kidnap list. Remember that psychic guy back in Oz making a huge fuss over the baby? I'm sure there's more to that story. "All children have craaazy powers on.... the island" oooooooo

I don't remember Walter 'controlling' the bear... I remember him nearly being mauled to death by it, but no controlling. Please refresh my memory.

That statement about 'They're not the survivors they thought they were" has to be the biggest clue yet, but I still don't really know what to make of it. So far, all the theories put forwards support that statement.

As for Ana-Lucile, I don't think she survived. She was in the tail end of the plane, which tore off in the air. I think that conversation took place to basically build the 'that was a close one' factor. Remember her saying something about switching seats? Well if he had, Lost would be Jack-less and Michelle Rodriguez would be starring... is that a good thing or a bad thing... ?

it wasn't so much controlled... it's just both times the polar bear appeared, walter was reading that spanish (?) comic... the second time was when he and michael were hiding in that tree thing and it only disappeared when he stopped concentrating on it...

might be nothing i suppose...

as for the engine, i might be wrong, since it was so long ago, but i know something flew into the engine, and it was flying with a trail behind it...

i remember more from the ads for the recap show than from the original airing btw

i'd forgotting that psychic in Sydney... adds more intrigue... thanks

I don't remember anything flying into the engine except for that guy, I should probably look over the episodes again when the DVD comes out...

Ana-Lucile is definately a character next season, JJ Abrams has already confirmed Michelle Rodriguez as part of the cast. Hasn't said anything yet about how she survived or anything, but she's definately a part of season 2. There are also a few other new characters joining who have been confirmed. Should be good.

I've got this feeling that Locke already knows what's down the hatch, and he was confused as to why the rungs were broken off. Remember at the end of the episode where Boone gets crushed by the plane how Locke is kneeling over the hatch and a light turns on inside? Something's gotta be going on there...

nah it wasn't the guy...

it was a shot where Jack was talking to someone (Kate probably) with the engine in the midground, looking over the beach/surf/ocean

then something flies in from the sea and hits the engine... from behind i think, so into the rear of the engine... ie: against the exhaust... and it blows up...

i'd forgotten about the hatch lighting up for Locke in that episode too... gah

and yeah, Michelle Rodriguez is added to the cast list on IMDB as "Season 2 -." cast member...

i hope the original pilot episode is on the DVDs... the one where Jack was killed at the end, instead of the pilot... (the pilot was added as a re-shoot since the studio said you can't build him up as a hero, then kill him in the last minutes of the first episode...)

there was an article about Matthew Fox (the actor portraying Jack) in our TV guide and it was saying how close he came to not being "made" by Lost.

basically the bit with the pilot (of the plane i mean) was reshot, initially there was no pilot (again, of the plane).

OK, I think I watched "Lost" last week, but I'm not sure if I missed it...
Was last week the season finale?
Damn, I can't remember if I saw it or not...

The last episode I saw had a tall column of black smoke, and a group was on the raft, and that guy jumped in the water because a bit of the raft broke off when it hit a log.
Did I miss the finale?

That aside, my initial theory was that they were actually dead.
I only have two things to suggest this.
1. The African American lady saying that the rest of the passengers might be somewhere asking Jack's group was (i.e. those we think died actually survived and those alive are in some sort of limbo, sorting out their issues from life).
2. "They are not the survivors they thought they were" - this might suggest that they aren't survivors at all (this is recent evidence).

Now, that is just a theory I had at first.
I don't know if I agree with it now, but it's still an interesting possibility.

As for a simple theory, maybe the island is a giant vehicle of some kind.
Maybe...





EDIT: OK, I just read the episode summary on the "Lost" website, and I only saw it upt o the point where the French woman took the baby - then my mates called me from outside my house and we went out...
So... I missed a lot.
BUT.
I caught up on the plot bby reading through the info in the summary.
All good now.

Anyway - I'd consider getting this series on DVD when it comes out, because I really liked it, and would like to go back and check out the clues.
