what's the difference between nintendo 3ds games and ds games. because i've been wondering with the labels on the games.

A Nintendo 3DS console will play Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS games whilst the Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi and DSiXL console will only play Nintendo DS games.
The 3DS is the newest of the Nintendo handhelds and has a slider that allows you to see images in 3D, you can play any Nintendo DS/3DS branded game on this console.
The other DS models have been around a few years and are the most common. These can only play Nintendo DS games.
