On topic - don't you need a HDD to take the console online and use live?

Isn't that why MS were giving away 20gb hdds for people who had Core consoles?

That was when the Arcade version of the 360 only came with a 256mb memory card. When the new dashboard update was released it required more than 256mb so Microsoft offered a refurbished 20GB hard drive for $20 to Arcade console owners.

The new Xbox Slims comes with 4GB built in so that's no longer an issue I don't think. 4GB is plenty if you don't install games.
