What Mobile Game are you Currently Playing?

Just noticed that there's no general discussion thread about what games we're currently playing on Mobile devices. There's one in the general thread for console/pc games but not mobile, so I thought I'd create one.

I've been getting heavily into games on my iphone lately, moreso than console/PC games. I guess I'm just in a "pick up 'n' play" phase at the moment, so I'd love to regularly know what people are getting into on mobile/tablet devices as a guide on further games to purchase/download.


Jetpack Jopyride - Currently FREE! normally 99cents (iphone)
Pretty neat little side-scrolling game where you dodge obstacles whilst riding on a jetpack. A distance high-scoring game where the speed increases with time, there's plenty of vehicle powerups and upgrades by coin collecting.

There's a thread for it where there's either complete love or hate for it, And whilst it's not great, it definitely keeps you coming back every now and then to try and better your score. Some insane times on the leaderboards, after an hour's play I'm on 4557m which isn't even in the top 300000worldwide, so there's plenty of incentive to collect coins, upgrade the powerups and achieve a better distance.

Chess Online - Free (iphone)
I've always loved chess, heck I used to even enter in comps and was a yahoo! chess fanatic back in the primary school days. I loved the ranking system of Yahoo! chess of yesteryear so I've been trying to find something for the iphone which is similar, and this is the closest I have found.

It allows you to join lobbies and play LIVE with other iphone users. It has a rankings system as well which increases/decreases dependant on your opponents skill level. It seems to be somewhat popular, there's always roughly 20 or so players online whenever I have started it up, and I've always found a game instantly with no hassles, which is a positive I guess.

The only downside is that There's a 5-minute timer for each person for every game, so you really have to think quick and have of my games I simply ran out of time, which means you lose. I'd become well addicted to this if there were options to change the timer for games, but 5:00 simply isn't enough time for me, I'm not good enough to finish a game that quickly. Add a 1-2 second lag every 3rd/4th move and you really don't have much time at all.

If anybody is out there that is into chess and can suggest a better online chess app with online play and rankings with better game time options I'd love to know.

rRootage Online - Free (iphone)
This is the best free bullet hell shmup I have currently found on the iphone. It gets insanely hard, there's 200 levels across 4 different game modes (so 50 each mode) which last around 3 minutes for each level, so there's plenty of longevity here. Modes include standard which gives you 3 lives and 3 bombs per life, plus an Ikaruga mode which has you changing the colour of your ship and absorbing bullets of the same colour whilst dodging the opposite. Each stage pits you against 5 bosses where you get a better score by defeating them quickly, more health depletes when you are closer to the boss, etc. I've become addicted to this, currently sitting 11th on the overall leaderboards with only 100/200 levels completed, that's how hard it gets.

Still sword & poker and dungeon raid with a side order of traffic panic for the quick arcade moments.

Dungeon Raid's got me hooked. Picked it up after a recommendation on here. Spent yesterday playing it at the zoo and a family gathering =P

Also I've been mucking about in Tiny Tower and Hero Academy, both free. TT is a timewaster a bit like FarmVille I guess. HA is tactical turn based combat. Not finished a HA game yet, so not really sure what I'm doing.

I never completed all the levels of the original Angry Birds so I'm currently playing it. I tried playing Max Payne for Android but lost interest. I just got my PS Vita so I don't spend much time with my Android like before.
