Good review I agree, it does feel as if there's an opportunity missed here. I do enjoy the mission mode extra though, some of them can be time consuming and tricky to pull off. Maybe I've been spoiled by Mario 3D Land, but this one didn't pop visually as others on the system have managed to, not that it looks bad, far from it.
I was a little surprised at how similar classic and modern Sonic's levels are compared to the console, surely the 3DS has enough power under the hood to pull off some of the bigger 360 levels?
