I recently bought a gaming laptop, and with the possibility of days being spent on BF3 I figure I should get me a quality headset that'll work with the PC and 360.
Making the decision on which pair to get is tough, I'd prefer 5.1 or 7.1 over stereo sets. So looking at maybe TurtleBeach x41 or a similar pair of Trittons.. maybe even their GOW3 set if I can still find them.

So what does PALGN have etc etc.

I don't own one yet but I've spent many hours researching and using a few different brands. Stay away from Razor whatever you do, I don't think anyone I know hasn't had one of their overpriced products break at some point.

Turtlebeach are great, but apparently have next to no support.

I'm limiting myself to what's available in store, I'm being a bit impatient, but with BF3 out now I want to grab one in the next couple of days, but good to know Razor is blacklisted.

I am the proud owner of 7.1 X41s. Hello improved KDR.

Turtle Beach also has a set of MW3 headsets being released in the next week or so.

Fair enough. You won't be dissapointed with the Turtles, its probably the brand I will go for, either that or Logitech seeing as my mouse, keyboard and speakers are also logitech.

I use the Wireless Logitech G930 headphones. They're quite comfortable, seem quite clear and have decent battery life so they suit me quite well.

If you can get them cheap on logitechshop.com.au when they have a sale on, they're worth it I say.

For console and PC gaming you can get the Gamecom 777 headset. It has an inbuilt mic and an adapter for USB and audio jack play. I use it on my PC with the USB as it allows for virtual 7.1 surround, which makes games sound pretty insane. Turning it off produces very sharp and crisp sounding stereo for music listening, and strong bass levels too.

It's painless on PC as well as it requires no drivers, and console it's literally plug in the jack and away you go.

Turtle Beach are pretty good but are also pricey, they sound solid as I've played with them a few times.

Razer are contrary to popular belief not all that bad, particularly the Megalodon and Carcharias range, though for their price you can usually get better.

Also, you can probably get the Gamecom 777 from JB straight out. I picked two up for $129 each for my gf and I on the weekend, replaced it over my sound blaster arena headset which I gave to a mate. About the same quality but with slightly less features which I'm okay with, as the Arena I couldn't use for console.
