Yeah, certainly a dickload of DLC up front. I hate that. I can't put my finger on the MP though, it's way smoother. I think the framerate is more stable actually and that's why it feels better. _________________ Shin J Leon.

That dlc makes no sense to me, epics reasoning would have been, people will see your gun skins and think you are cool, no, they will know you are a knob.
It isn't like unlocking some weapon so that people will be in awe of your skill when they see you and go, that is tough to get that gun, they will go, oh look some noob paid 50 bucks for a coloured gun. Sort of defeats the purpose.....now i am off to buy some sweet horse armour. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

anyho... got my disc swap and since I live in the city anyhow; came home to test the new disc to make sure its not my x360. Works. Played the sequence at the start - fantastic visuals. Won't say anymore but I got goosebumps when the logo came up when Marcus woke up.
Looking forward to this so much. I have dinner planned tonight but so tempted to bail out and play Gears3 instead. _________________

So what's the point of ranked matches? They kind of seem completely pointless. And I'm glad there are less newbs running around with shotguns, that was almost enough to make me stop playing.

My console didn't like the disc and it was excessively loud during installation. Usually when this happens, installation runs at 1% every 10-20 minutes (this occurred with UFC 2010, Aliens vs Predator, CSI Hard Evidence and a few others etc), surprisingly the installation only took 15 minutes total.
However it still "boots" and acts like it is using the disc until just after the title sequence. Still the amount of noise isn't as bad as how the original Gears of War game disc sounded in my first 360 console. The loudest noise i've ever heard, and i have a reasonable tolerance for loud noises.
Didn't start campaign, i jumped straight to TDM, then Execution online.
Played Horde and Beast modes on my own .
I don't put too much stock in the graphics, they look ok...... but if i focus on the surrounding area, i almost get motion sickness (not full on, but i can just tell it's not pleasant to look at for long periods of time).
I love the game play though, it took me a few goes to get used to the shotgun, i'll never be as good as i was in the original Gears where my reflexes were at their peak. I gradually got good at Gears 2, but i didn't play it often enough to remain consistently competitive.

Hey guys my copy keeps freezing at the main menu, the game is installed to the hard drive. I've read some other people are experiencing the same issues and it's more common on the 1st generation of xbox (which is what I have) has anyone else had this issue?

Were they just giving the pre-order cards out with every purchase, ManeKast? Was thinking of buying a second copy for my brothers so they can stop harassing me for mine when I'm in my man-cave playing Gears. _________________

but yeah EB sucks
* on gears comment: played 1 ACT. hardcore mode. bit easy. :/ Gorgeous visuals and I love the post explosion debris cloud that's particle based and obscures your view. We've come a long way from flat mapped animated planes for explosive debris cloud. _________________

up to ACT III. I think they might have broken the game design with the 4P gameplay - constantly having those other 3 makes the game really easy. You can hide in a corner and your AI team will wipe out the enemies - btw that and the fact that there's always someone to revive you means that I'm not dying much.
For eg the room where the eggs hatch with the little monster bugs, could have been cool but you literally didn't have to shoot anything - just roll around and the team kills them all; then, you'd have to fight the mother and shoot her eye - I used my pistol weapon and the whole thing which should have been nerve wracking and amazing was super easy.
Its interesting to see what they've done so far to mix it up but the lack of difficulty has meant that I'm charging through the game. There are some rooms where you literally charge in, blast like crazy, punch thing left right... and then you hear the room clear sound.
Not sure what to make of it. _________________

Yeah they were attached to the back of every single copy behind the counter with sticky tape.
The game: I forgot how much fun gears is. I was gonna skip it cause I thought it would be more of the same. Well, it is, but damn if it isn't the most fun I have had in a shooter for AGES. Graphics are really really nice too, amazing this is on such old hardware. Would love to see what Epic could do with this on PC, but, WOW.
Had to turn up the difficulty. Gee wizz the storyy is cheesy, but it made me laugh out loud so far a few times and is great for a videogame setting, the world is gorgeous and the artwork is dark and epic.
Some hilarious one liners and some deeply cheesy 'moments'. Awesome horror vibe, all up, stoked I bought it. Add me if you wanna kick my ass in multiplayer or jam some horde.
Im impressed. _________________

Yet to play the campaign, too busy playing Horde, Beast Mode and TDM, Warzone, Execution etc.
I am enjoying it thus far, not at the same height of the original just yet. But having loads of fun.
I'll have to judge the difficulty of the campaign when i start playing it, i did do a pseudo "Insane" run on co-op. But i am more a casual/normal difficulty Gears player .

Really enjoying this, but yeah, weird difficulty levels. Hardcore my ass. Does the difficulty increase noticeably when playing online co-op?

Was playing multiplayer last night and "Mad World" started playing, minus the singing. It was kind of awesome, and changed the mood of the game. Why did this happen? I want it to happen again!
Ah, here we go:
| Quote: | Play Gridlock and finish a match without destroying any of the Ash People and, in the next round, "Mad World," the Tears for Fears song from Donnie Darko and Gears of War trailer fame will play.

finished. alright game. difficutly ruined it a little for me. Wayyy too easy to the end. Some of the segments that they did were so pointless in light of the fact that you kind of get through in under 2 minutes? All the escort+driving sequences couldn't measure up to the awesome gears 1 sequence with the light and that nightbatkiller things. The sub sequence was long and boring
I did enjoy what I played of it; when the end boss of the 3rd game is much easier than ramm... /sigh.
End talk
so I'm guessing no more gears? I think I liked the ending. Can't think too much into what is a pulpy actioner. I wish the queen wasn't killed in a cinematic and the dialogue wasn't just maniacal idiocy. also, thought dom's death was hilarious... accelerating car and alll that, he could have jumped out. It just seemed like they had to find a reason to kill him and it felt so convienient that in the ensuing firestorm; all the other good guys survived and mad world played. Slow mo explosions. slow mo flames licking. slow mo jumping. It was hilairous.
ActIV was the most amazingly. Art lighting, visuals. best part of the game. _________________

In some ways this was designed quite poorly. For instance fighting those smaller single creepers has zero challenge whatsoever as when you die someone picks you up. Really the only major challenge is huge numbers which means the other players are busy elsewhere or cheap deaths.
Anyway the campaign isn't blowing me away, only done 2 chapters though but I love the multiplayer. So good for it to just work and I really feel like machine guns actually have a shot at killing things which is better than the endless shotgun matches. Even had a few games of MVP.
