I watched it the other night, now I am incredibly biased so there probably won't be any logic in this post lol, but it was wonderfully done. Not only that but the movie mixed things up a little, didn't exactly follow the book, but that was a good thing as you had no idea what to expect. It almost felt like a fresh story being told, and man it was so good!

SPOILERS

That scene where the teachers and aurors put up the barrier around hogwarts looked so damn amazing, that barrier is one of the graphically nicest things I have ever seen in any medium of entertainment

Also for fans who played the videogame OOTP, it was hilarious to see the hog statue in the room of requirement, I'm laughing just thinking about it now XD

I loved practically everything about this movie, but I was not happy with a single death scene at all as they went over the top with them. Voldemort should have just fallen into a heap, that would of been a lot better and surely would of indicated his permanent death. But I don't get whats with people dying and....it looks like newspapers burning or something? XD

Also disappointed at some really cool moments from the book which they didn't put in. I would of loved to have seen Mcgonagall, Slughorn and Flitwick trying to fight off Voldemort. I also would of liked to have seen Bellatrix fighting the girls more and a bit of an extension on the Molly vs. Bellatrix scene. I pray there's a super extended edition of this movie on the cards.

Other than that it was fantastic, I would of liked there to be more humour as there wasn't as much as the last 2 movies but I'm cool with it. And man I absolutely loved the last scene where Nagini was killed, the look on Harrys face is like 'OH MY GOD'. That was so brilliantly done imo.

/SPOILERS

Seriously, I know life goes on but I am so sad for this to end icon_sad.gif I played these videogames so much as a kid and loved the movies, still remember seeing the trailer for the first movie. I hope they don't milk this series to the point where it sucks, but I wouldn't mind more videogames, remakes or something. I've always wanted a Harry Potter MMO, that would be epic. Even if it was a WoW clone, I would love it to death!

Such a wonderful series finished. I haven't been this upset since I finished watching all the Avatar;Airbender series. It's like your having a grand time and then reality smacks you in the face. HI literally almost cried :'(

Yay for Harry Pothead!

Seen the film twice now, here are my thoughts on it. I might waffle on a bit, only because HP is awesome icon_biggrin.gif

Visually, it was quite spectacular, the effects were stunning and very well done. Pacing was perfect, I never felt that the film was dragging on. Daniel, Rupert and Emma have developed very well as actors and brought the characters to life exceptionally well.

My favourite parts were:

The Prince's Tale (Snape's memories): This is one instance where the film adds something that wasn't in the book and is better for it. Having Snape mention that Harry has his mother's eyes, and Snape discovering the bodies of Harry's parents added to an already powerful scene, and this part, much like the book, was the favourite part of the movie for me. It was nice to see Alan Rickman finally explore all facets of his character, as I feel he was rather under utilised in the previous films. A heart-wrenching scene.

King's Cross: Simple, but well done. Made a nice change from the chaos at Hogwarts. Good to see that Gambon has embraced the Dumbledore character from the books, rather than that brash and overbearing man he was in the earlier films (looking at you Goblet of Fire). I got a Gandalf vibe from Dumbledore, not that that is a bad thing. Voldemort's fetus thingy was suitably hideous.

Gringotts was cool, that duplicating effect was well done(forgot what it was called). And the whole Battle of Hogwarts overall was epic and brutal, though I wouldn't have minded seeing more dueling between wizards.

Criticisms (or more like nitpicks)
I did have a problem with the death scenes, or more the lack of them. Not enough screen time was devoted to the other supporting characters IMO. I would've liked the film to show things that weren't necessarily covered, or covered only briefly, in the book, like the actual deaths of characters like Fred, Lupin and Tonks, as this would've had a greater impact than just simply showing their bodies. Hell, Lavender Brown got a death scene, and she was a minor character in the scheme of things. I know the film is all about Harry, but his friends also played a part in defeating Voldemort, and this should've been shown in the film.

Probably my biggest gripe, which was a problem originating from part 1, what the hell happened to Wormtail? He just kinda fell over...and disappeared. I thought they might've had extended his role to part 2, as I'm sure I saw him in the forest in one of the initial trailers, but alas. The way he died in the book was quite the twist, and it is a shame that we didn't get to see it.

Things I would've changed:
I know that it is inevitable that things are cut in the transition from book to film, but I wouldn't have minded seeing Grawp and Kreacher at the final battle, just for continuity's sake. And the spiders, I thought they were on Hogwarts' side?
I would've liked Harry's final speech to Voldemort to have remained in the movie. It showed how far Harry had come, and exemplified his best qualities as a person.
Since there was no funeral scene for Dumbledore in HBP, I would've liked to see Harry return the Elder Wand to Dumbledore's tomb, just so that Harry (and the audience) could finally make his peace and get some closure.
I didn't really like Harry breaking the wand and throwing it away, I thought the Elder Wand would be unbreakable :S

OVerall, this film was epic and overwhelming and I'm sad to see it end icon_sad.gif A truly spectacular send-off for the bespectacled wizard. Probably my favourite film in the series (together with Part 1), and I think I will be seeing it a few more times icon_biggrin.gif
I'd give this film 9 chocolate frogs out of 10.

Yeah man I agree, I hope a heap of actors from the movies go on to be successful as I think they have all done wonderfully over the years, I would really like to see Hermione, Harry, Ron, Draco, Neville, Luna and Cho turn into famous adult actors (Not the dirty kind icon_razz.gif)

>>>SPOILERS<<< wrote:

I also thought that Gringotts scene was done really well, in fact it seemed to play out a lot better in the movie than it did in the book. In the book it seemed really bullcrap that they broke into one of the most secure places in the world, but in the movie, the way they showed it seemed to make it seem that it was possible that they had the ability/luck to break in.

And I do agree with the lack of death scenes, I really would of liked them to divulge on how Lupin, Fred and Tonks died. Maybe one day J.K.Rowling might specify how they died, but I really would have liked to have seen it for the movie. It would of been nice if Rowling could have provided extra material for the movie, to give fans a nice surprise. And man I don't remember Lavender dying, I really gotta read the books again XD

Also agree with the Elder Wand, even if he broke it and put it back in Dumbledores tomb it would of felt better. It just doesn't seem right to chuck it. Maybe stash it in the room of requirement...or the burnt remains of it. Actually I don't know what they will do with that room. I wonder if they can go back into that specific room (Of hidden objects) and clean everything, or if the room is permanently screwed. I hope that it didn't ruin the other rooms that the room of requirement can be.

And I can't remember Wormtail either, I also don't recall seeing Fenrir die? And I too don't get why the spiders were on the bad side? I'm positive they were supposed to be good, I mean they were defending their homes? And the Centaurs were missing too which was a real disappointment. I know they couldn't put everything in the movie, but they did do pretty well for what they had.

Man I still wish that they make an extended edition with like 40 minutes extra material...it's one of the biggest franchises of all time and I'm sure they could easily do it icon_sad.gif I think I'm just depressed though, I just want more but there is none lol

Seriously they could make a whole movie based off stuff they didn't do in all the previous movies. Like Goblet of Fire, the final maze was supposed to have a Sphinx of sorts, and also an extended quidditch cup would be nice. And the Half Blood Prince missed a few important points too iirc. And maybe they can maybe show (Make-up) the quidditch match that Gryffindor won in book 6 to get the cup....

ahh listen to how desperate I am XD Ohwell, I definitely think it was one of the best movies. I love the guy who directed the last few movies, he did a brillaint job with perfectly mixing humour, action and story imo. He really did the series justice, though being a fanboy, I will say I loved all the movies. Some more than others, but I could happily sit through any of them icon_biggrin.gif

9 chocolate frogs out of 10 indeed, though 10/10 for the entire series icon_biggrin.gif

Hermoine, adult actor……*drool* oh what? Right, Harry Potter. LoL

Well Draco does have a role in that new ape movie, though he looks like he’s playing the same character. Replace the monkeys with house elves, and presto, you’ve got the Malfoys repressing the elves in “Rise of the Planet of the House Elves”……..Wait, this is movie gold!! I’d pay to see that icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah I’m glad David Yates took the reins on the films, he did a fantastic job with the last few films, and I think he was the only director out of the 4 who had a vision for the series as a whole (probably helped that the last book came out during his tenure, but anyway). To put out a half-decent book adaptation is hard enough, but to churn out 8 movies that are enjoyable, and that respect the source material and keep the spirit of the series, is quite the feat, and kudos to Warner Bros. for bringing the magic to our screens icon_biggrin.gif

I’m a bit of a fanboy as well, and I loved almost all of the movies, each was special in their own way. Sure they had their flaws with respect the books and such, but half the fun I reckon is picking apart the movies and see how well they did compared to the book.

EXCEPT Goblet of Fire. God, what the hell happened there? Urrgh, I think I can rant on for pages about what was wrong with GoF. Anyway, back to the Deathly Hallows.

>>>SPOILERS<<< wrote:
Fenrir was the one biting Lavender, and then Hermoine blasted him over the wall, never to be seen again. Think that was pretty much what happened in the book as well, it’s been a while since I read it too. Kinda wished it was a Bill vs Fenrir showdown instead, that would’ve been much more suitable, considering their history. And Fenrir the one to kill Lupin. That would’ve been neat, and epic.

I didn’t want it to end too; I wanted the movie to go on for like another half hour, though I think we were spoiled with a 4 1/2 hour movie in the first place. I think a lot of people around the world are having Potter withdrawal symptoms, me included icon_sad.gif Having grown up with the Harry Potter series, it has definitely had a positive influence on my life. I like to think of it as the LOTR of our generation. icon_smile.gif I don’t think I will encounter anything even close to the scope of the HP series ever again, or in my lifetime anyway, but the memories will remain with me forever. To the Boy Who Lived!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I didn't like this quite as much as Part 1.

>>>SPOILERS<<< wrote:

Things I liked:
- Alan Rickman. I'd say he's probably the best actor in the series, and he really got to put on a good performance in this movie.
- The pace of the movie was pretty good, no really dull moments.
- Good visual effects, and some great directing by David Yates.

Things I didn't like:
- What was with Neville apparently becoming a main character all of a sudden? I know he played a small part in the book, but he was just everywhere in the movie. I felt like we almost saw more of him than Ron or Hermione, especially towards the end.
- The fight between Harry and Voldemort had serious issues. Why was he calmly walking up stairs as Harry waited to ambush him? Why was he strangling Harry with his cape? Then he actually went and physically hit Harry? What?!
- Voldemort and Bellatrixes deaths. Very quick, and they both disintegrated for no particular reason. What on earth did Mrs Weasley cast on poor Bellatrix?! icon_razz.gif
- The removal of Harry's final speech to Voldemort.
- Harry snapping the Elder wand at the end. "It's the strongest wand in the world!" *snaps it in half* Well, so much for that! At least bury it with poor Dumbledore, sheesh!

So, I certainly had some issues with the movie. I wouldn't call it a great movie, but I wouldn't call it a bad one either. It's...adequate, I guess.

5 chocolate frogs out of 10. icon_cool.gif
