I'll hold off ordering it immediatly, but see if there are any other editions come out. Looks almost as good as the Codec edition. _________________

They really should have only made 3 games, one every 2 years or so. The first was amazing, the second didn't have the same "wow" factor, but was still great, but with one every year I can't even be bothered playing them. If they released one every two years and made them as good as possible I probably would have played all 3 around launch, but considering they are up to the fourth in a "trilogy", it'll be a while before I ever finish it all :\

Yeah, they are kind of really milking the **** out of them, but they're awesome games and I find that enough has changed in each to make them worth going for.
Not as sure about Revelations but the Animus stuff sounds REALLY interesting.

I agree with the above post, they are milking it but I'm a total sucker for this series, the gameplay is still excellent in the last game and had enough nice little improvements :]
also ISTANBUL god yes please ♥ another thing I love about the series as a travel nerd/culture vulture is how it takes us to all these beautiful places around the world that arent usually (or have never been) seen in games before and in interesting time periods that arent usually seen either.
I cant wait to see how they tie Ezio and Altair's stories together in the different time settings. Switching between two time periods over the course of the story and seeing how your surroundings change (at least I imagine thats how it will work) is going to be really interesting. But next game we need a new character. _________________

I am willing to give them a lot of slack after I completly wrote off brotherhood and then it ended up being the best in the series.
Anyone watch the gameplay trailer over at Gametrailers?
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-assassins-creed/714944
the ending looks intriguing with the werid portal thing.

Screw that, next game needs to be modern setting playing as Desmond. _________________

^ nooo I never want to see a completely modern AC game. The last game of Desmond needs to be a 50/50 of one particular time period and modern Desmond. Make him keep needing to go back in the animus to get information or whatever contrived reason they can come up with... I do want to see an end to Desmond's story but half of the appeal for me is the history and locations... Without that it wouldn't be as good. _________________

agreed. I'd hate to think they wasted three games on Ezio to end this story without another another playable ancestor playing into things. I have no idea where i'd like to see them go, actually i've had idea's that i've got no idea how they'ed work into the story. _________________

Well the setting of the game is next year. So I don't really think they can keep dragging out this story for that much longer without it bringing to a head. I mean if they don't resolve the story in whatever game they release next year then the animus desmond stuff starts to be history wich gets weird.
The whole draw of the game for me has always been the meta story and the stuff happening with Desmond, I never gave a shit about Altair and Ezio. They were just the stuff that was happening between Desmonds story. _________________

As long as they keep improving the game and keep the story interesting i could care less how often they came out. Will definitely be picking this up.

Here is my theory for how Desmond's story will (eventually) end.
Once everything is wrapped up and Vidic(?) is killed and the Assassins win and all the other predictable stuff blah blah, we will find out we were never playing as Desmond playing as his ancestors. We were playing as a future descendant of Desmond using an Animus to see Desmond's memories in the past. Firstly notice how even when you play as Desmond in AC 1, 2 & Brotherhood, when you press the pause button you are still given an Animus screen the same as when you're playing as Ezio and Altair, except different and more minimalistic.
in the Brotherhood "Truth" scene, these lines are very important:
| Code: |
Subject 16: She is not who you think she is. Everything you hope to become, everything you hold dear, it's already gone.
Desmond: Explain. Please.
Subject 16: I cannot... The sun... Your son... Too weak... Must replenish energy...
Desmond: Don't go!
Subject 16: I am with you 'til the end. Find me in the darkness. |
Subject 16 is saying Desmond is already dead, everything he knows is already gone. Then he mentions Desmond's son, who as far as we know doesn't exist yet. Then he says he will be here until the end (of Desmond's life?) :]
and if that wasn't enough, in the credits we hear these muffled voices, spoken by voice actors we haven't heard before:
| Code: | Man 1: "Sh!t hes gone into shock!"
Man 2: "Put him back into the machine. Its the only way to fix this."
Man 1: "But the animus did this to him!"
Man 2: "Am I the expert or not? Do it!"
Desmond: "No.." |
Another quote I vaguely remember from near the end of the game came from the hologram woman who kept saying very cryptic things, one thing she said was something like "They are our last hope. You are they." But Desmond is the only person in the room, and nobody else seems to be able to see or hear her anyway. She speaks to Desmond as though he's more than one person.
I'll link back to this post in a few years to prove I knew what was going to happen _________________

Hopefully the multiplayer on the PC version will actually work this time. Brotherhood MP still doesn't work for me... _________________

NEW THEORY
So I've been replaying all the assassins creed games done AC 1, Bloodlines and am going through 2 at the moment. Also reading a lot on the AC wiki. So this theory will have spoilers from stuff outside of the main games. So tune out if you're planning on reading the AC books or shit.
My theory is that Altair isn't dead in desmonds time.
So after AC 1 Altair gets the apple and says he'll destroy it.
We know this doesn't happen because Vidic tells us they had the apple and it got destroyed in the accident that happened in Denver.
After AC 1, Altair mellows out a lot, he Malik (One armed dude that got fucked up at the begining of AC 1) becomes his best friend and trusted confidante, he falls in love with Maria (Female Templar from the end of AC 1) they get married and have two kids.
Then they all die. Malik gets imprisoned, and dies there, his son dies, his wife gets killed etc, he gets kicked out of the assassin order it gets taken over, etc etc. He loses basically everything. And He was never really a nice guy to start with, the entire storyline of AC 1 revolves around him being a dick.
But he still spends like another 30 years or something traveling with the apple, the last record of him is when he's like in his 80's or 90's wich is fucking freakish for the time. Through out bloodlines it constantly says that no one should hold the apple and Altair doesn't think he should have it because it's too powerful and corrupting. But he keeps it anyway and refuses to seal it in the archives that was his entire plan or try and destroy it. By the end of his codex he's talking about using it to delay or completely prevent his death. Also if you go into the room with all the statues in AC 2 (where you get altairs armour) and go into eagle vision which serves to essentially tell you the alignment of the people you're looking at Altair's statue is completely in shadow (in spite of the fact that it's the most well lit statue in the room)
So my theory is after Altair loses his family and his guild of assassins and basically everything. He becomes more obsessed with the pieces of Eden as a way to compensate (It's after he gets kicked from the guild that he finds the other pieces) ends up using them to live for ever and may or may not be a villain in AC 3. _________________

Im not sure I'd buy him leading the Templar, he still hates them from everything I can tell. Maybe he's still the grand master assassin manipulating everything that's happening to Desmond the same way al mulin (Or however you spell his name) manipulated him in AC 1. There are also a fair few hints that Lucy isn't as nice as she seems (The ending to brotherhood, the red foot prints leading away from your base in brotherhood when she leaves) so if she was following Altair's orders and playing Desmond as a way to find more artifacts it would totally fit. _________________
