Hmm...I'm intrigued.

As much as I love my 3DS, I'm using it far more as a music player and a *DS* machine than any 3DS software. Better get some new games soon and not just ports, otherwise it looks like the PSP2 is the handheld for me this gen.

Looks somewhere between Uncharted 1 and 2 in terms of graphics.

You sure? The textures seem far lower res than in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. The lighting effects seem less advanced too (e.g. the tree not casting a shadow on Drake.)

Still absolutely stunning for a handheld, though.

Yeah, it doesn't look quite as good as the first Uncharted, but hey, who's complaining when you consider that this is on a handheld console? If Sony are looking for something to make the 3DS's graphics look bad, this works nicely. icon_smile.gif

These are pretty close to PS3 shots in my view - incredibly impressive for a handheld. Time for new consoles - I'm looking forward to be wowed again.

Oh, and for those who don't know, it's the Vita...

I agree. Uncharted 1 didn't look that great in some parts but the PSP2 game seems to be following more along the lines of Uncharted 2 in terms of detail. It's hard to tell in just a few screenshots.

looks like ps2.5, Better than ps2 but not quite as good as ps3.

Very nice for a handheld, the dirt texture on the pants and the character models are impressive.

There's rumours from devs though that the PSP2/Vita has had it's memory and vram cut and half so it might explain why the textures don't look so good.

As Esposch has already said, while the graphics look good for a handheld, the low texture quality and simplistic lighting are a bit of a concern (no surprise after those rumours about the PSP2 RAM being halved.

I dont know if I'd call it a 'concern'. This thing is still crazy powerful and the games are looking phenominal. It was never going to be literally a portable PlayStation 3.

Haven't really been following the NGP news, but is it just me or does that thing look huge?

I'm hoping SONY release a TV out (HDMI out?) cable for NGP/PSP2/PSV, because then I'll be able to compare the moving gameplay graphics side-by-side to the PS3 Uncharted games.

They may look decent now but how will they look in 3 years time? Or 5? Sorry, the whole ram thing is a step in the wrong direction.

Yes? As people develop on it more they will be able to get more out of the console and make better looking games. It's why Uncharted 2 looks so much better than uncharted even though they're both PS3 games.

The RAM being halved was a rumour, even one of the Sony dudes wrote on his Twitter about it saying 'Never believe what you hear', for all we know it's BS. Besides, thinking about how games look in the future is not the way to look at it, look at the games and their sequels on the same hardware, it improves over time. The PSP2 isn't even out yet and so far it's completely destroying the 3DS in terms of graphics, that's good enough for me.

It will look as good as it can as developers get more and more out of the system thanks to optimisation, and it will also look dated as all closed platforms ultimately end up being.

Losing RAM (assuming it is true) was probably a poor move, but the point remains this is not and was never going to be a portable PS3. Its packing heat for sure, but the platform was always going to be sub PS3.

Let's assume it is just a rumour for now, but regardless, the pictures don't like, the texture quality is particularly lacking. And yes, over time they will be able to produce nicer stuff, but for me, for 3d games, poor texture quality is one of my pet annoyances. That's a matter of personal preference.

I was wow'ed and disappointed all at the same time, hope that makes sense.

Of course the game has bad textures. Only PC games have decent textures. Mighty hell.
