Hopefully it's full of additional content, not content that should be included as part of the games themselves. Somehow, though, I doubt it. Ah well, I've never played a CoD game, and I can't see my self starting now.
EDIT: I'm referring to things like map packs here, not the statistical stuff.

More players for Hello Kitty Island Adventure....
If this is the way it is going to go, not interested..... i'm not much of a Battlefield online player (well mainly the console releases, i can tolerate 1942, and BF 2 on pc.... i just didn't like Bad Company 1 & 2 or BF 1943 on 360), guess i will have to get used to it

Well this definitely means I won't be buying MW3, I was slightly interested but definitely not now.

While it would be nice if this caused an influx of players ditching Call of Duty for Battlefield, you guys are crazy if you think this will actually have any impact at all.
People will lap this up. Call of Duty isn't going anywhere any time soon, and I fully expect Modern Warfare 3 to set a new sales record. _________________

Yep. Not pay-to-play online, but pay for extra features. _________________

Eventually there will be a backlash against the yearly installments and blatant cash-grabbing.
I'll go out on a limb and say MW3 will not break records set by MW2 (I assume that still holds the records). I could also be completely wrong, but I think sales will drop from here on. Probably still be very profitable though. _________________

Updated the report with a low quality difficult to watch because its so goddamn obnoxious and tacky trailer of the features.

Eventually, but not yet. As far as I'm aware Black Ops is just behind Modern Warfare 2 in sales. The launch however was bigger. _________________

True, my optimism may be a bit premature. I just hate to think about how many great games could be made with the budget of a single Call of Duty game. _________________

No thanks. i'll stick with past CoD games or BF3. Not like CoD has changed radically since 4.

All the internet whinging in the world won't stop the people who don't browse online gaming sites and buy the overpriced map packs from this game selling boatloads. Whether they'll lap up the subscription once they've bought the game and realised what's going on is another matter. _________________

Bad move by COD, they're already hanging by a thin railing in terms of consumer opinion. _________________

I can't really blame them for capitalizing on it. If all these mindless drones keep coming back for more CoD then they may as well milk as much money from them as they possibly can.

Modern Warfare 3 will sell more than Battlefield 3, purely because it has Call of Duty slapped in front of the subtitle. I'm not going to argue that, but I firmly believe that it will sell less than the two before it.
Why? Because they've lost the older fans. Activision are the most hated company in this industry because they're a bunch of money grabbing whores (gotta love free speech), and the fallout with Infinity Ward can't be brushed under the carpet. I remember it and so do most of the mature people who supported them. Modern Warfare 3 is not an Infinity Ward product as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure others will agree.
And now Activision is going to start charging extra for stuff that should be free. You know what that reeks of? Desperation. I think they realise that Call of Duty is very slowly fading away and they want to milk every last cent out of it. I wouldn't mind too much if they put some of that money towards other games, instead of killing Bizzarre Studios, that's what should be done. But no, they'll pocket the cash and drive away in their black Audi's, laughing just like they do every year.
It actually makes me feel sick. Talented developers are out of work because of useless turds like Activision, they're single handedly draining the creative juice out of the industry and I hope they rot in liquidation hell. Of course that will never happen, but they're only fooling themselves and the public will eventually catch on. It might take another generation, but it will happen.
This is what I'll do at the Activision booth if I'm ever allowed into E3:

Yes yes yes, rant rant rant. The same song and dance most of us are singing, that ultimately means utter horseshit in the real world. The internet is alive with people jumping ship to Battlefield (and for good reason), and older fans have long given up on Call of Duty, but these are not the people driving the success of this behemoth franchise. It is the new fans that got Call of Duty where it is today.
I fully expect Call of Duty to eventually crash and burn, beause Activision have no idea how to handle longivity of an IP, and instead milk it until it's dead (and then some). However, there's no doubt in my mind that Modern Warfare will be the biggest title of 2011, and come startlingly close to both MW2 and Black Ops in sales.
The mass market couldn't give a shit about the developer. Everybody bitched and whined about Treyarch and how they were terrible developers boo hoo Call of Duty is doomed, and look what happened. It's just as successful as it always was. Hell, there was tons of uproar (internet tons) before Modern Warfare 2 launched, about Infinity Ward's craptacular peer-to-peer netcode, and their blatantly homophobic marketing, and that game sits as the best selling title in the series.
Modern Warfare 3 will be the biggest title of 2011 by a good country mile. It will smoke Battlefield 3 in sales. It might slip compared to both Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2, but it wont be by much. Call of Duty will slip up eventually, but the fact of the matter that any evidence the franchise is slumping now is completely nonexistent.
Point is internet ranting and raving and opinion does not translate into real world sales. Every generation has examples of this. Dont expect MW3 to be anything less than a huge hit. _________________
