Never had a problem with constant online. Never had that issue with Ubisofts stuff either.
No mods though pisses me off. Hey devs, you know why games like Quake 3, StarCraft, WarCraft III and Battlefield 2 are still being played? Because the community modded and extended the life of the game to insane levels. Apart from protecting the IP and exploits, I don't see how mods can hurt the game in any way whatsoever.
The IRL auction stuff is a catch-22. Keeps scams away cos it's all legit now, but at the same time it'll break the PvP system they want in place as pretty much your average bored person with a lot of spare money can acquire the best gear and dominate everyone for a good while.
I'll still get it, I like Diablo. But this shit pisses me off. _________________

Was PvP in Diablo ever any good though?
I only ever ran into griefers who liked it. Everyone else just wanted more loot/XP. I dueled against friends but it was always really one sided. _________________

Diablo PvP was pretty fun, and iirc Blizz are actually implementing some decent PvP features into D3, so it's a bit of a slap in the face imo when you find some dude can buy everything cos he has money, and you have to spend yonks grinding for it. _________________

True, but which will probably be worth nothing due to the over supply with millions of other people doing the same thing.
I wonder how the system will even work... will Blizzard take a slice of the pie everytime gold is sold?

They charge a small fixed fee on listing an item and on the sale. They explicitly said it was not a percentage. _________________

It's funnier because the comic also implies he bought an Alienware. _________________

I'm expecting there to be five "installments" in Diablo III. One for each character. AU$99.95 each. Or $150 each if you swing for the Collector's Edition. _________________

Apparently Bliz officially announced D3 beta starts this month.
Also there will be a D3 xpac "within 3 years", 2x SC2 xpacs (derr) and 2 more WoW expansions.
Oh and D3 was rated MA15+ in Aus this week.
(i dont have the source for these, read them on various n4g articles so take them as you will) _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

in other beta related news, apparently the installer has leaked already. blizzard really needs to hide their files better, the link people are using is straight from battle.net _________________

I cannot contain my anticipation for D3.
It's literally bursting out my pores and streaming from my orifices and oozing out of my....ahem. Exciting times.
So yeah, I'm quite chuffed that beta is nearly upon us. In short, setting myself up just perfectly for complete and utter dismay and loathing and self-flaggelation while everyone around me scores keys. _________________

No big deal for them, its useless without logging into battlenet and the only way you will be able to do it is if they have invited you to the beta. _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

Friends and Family beta is up, with NO NDA!
Enter the next 3 months of constant diablo 3 beta streaming, videos, and fun for all involved (except those of us frothing away because all they can do is watch).
http://www.diablofans.com/news/888-the-ff-beta-testing-has-begun-with-no-nda/
Check that post out for a few livestream links, I'm sure a zillion more will be popping up in the next week or 10.
Yay for great justice!
PS. More developers should get on board the no-NDA thing. It's classy. _________________

Why couldn't I have been born into the family of a Blizzard developer? =(
Hopefully the unwashed masses (ie. us) get invites soon too _________________

I like what they've done with the rune customization. It's more interesting and varied than the D2 gem system. Plus we can rearrange all this stuff at will right?
Witch Doctor + poison dart + white rune = Snake to the Face! =) _________________

yeah afaik we can switch the runestones equipped whenever we feel like it, and there's meant to be some kind of respec option to switch the points for skills. _________________

What are these points that you speak of?
There are no points! Skills are unlocked and become available for use as you grow in level. They also grow in power with you.
Your customization comes in the form of runestones of varying grades, and of deciding which skills to have equipped at any one time (including passive skills). That's it really
Blizzard are having us rethink the way we grow our character, and I'm all for a more streamlined system where we don't have to think of cramming many meaningless points into skill just to make it remotely effective vs. a higher level skill. The really powerful skills will be only available to the higher levels who farm up the necessary top-tier runestones.
But respeccing per se, can be done at any time, even mid-combat. _________________
