Well, list them off.
Quick edit: And find me a drug that doesn't have side effects while you're at it.

You're probably getting that confused with methanol, which actually is poisonous to the human body. The body can easily metabolise ethanol in to a safe substance, the same acid which is found in vinegar. When it tries to metabolise methanol, it is metabolised in to the same acid found in bee stings for example. This very definitely makes it not a poison and instead a drug.

Oh, here we go, where someone has said low doses provide positive benefits you've gone and said excess consumption is a bad thing. Different arguments, and one that I've even stated. It is true for all drugs that small doses can provide benefits, but large doses can provide damage.
Did you know that your fecal matter goes through fermentation process (ie how alcohol is produced) in the intestines? _________________

I'm just staying. I see a lot of folk throw around the 'alcohol is a poison' argument to excuse away not drinking, usually because it allows them to take a moral high ground. It's a means of personal validation for one's belief; "Only a fool would drink a poison".
So I make sure to remind everyone every once in awhile . _________________

Ethanol/alcohol is not a poison by the traditional definition of a poison. It is by the broader definition, but that also includes oxygen. |
Well if poison is unavoidable – I might as well poison myself with a nice sour mash… Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky and Cola… The original since 1795.

Went to Bridie O'Reilly's last night and had a pretty great time. Didn't get home until after four. Still can't stand the taste of beer, but bourbon...mmm. _________________

Tried some scotch and coke last night, I quite liked it. It didn't make me sick like beer usually does, so I might start drinking it more often. Though there's still a lot more I wanna try first.

I went overboard with Strongbow my first experience with alcohol, at a mate's 18th. Instead of looking at it as a reason to never consume alcohol again, I just see it as a kind of coda; everything in moderation.
I guess your personal opinion about alcohol is just a combination of your experiences as well as your interpretation of the results to those experiences.
And hey; to each his own, am I right? _________________

Can count the number of times I've drunk alcohol on one hand (part of it is cause I'm underage).
Of the alcoholic drinks I've tried though, I haven't really liked the taste of any of them. Give me a Mountain Dew over them anyday. _________________

Firstly the definition of poison is, "poisons are substances that can cause disturbances to organisms,[1] usually by chemical reaction or other activity on the molecular scale, when a sufficient quantity is absorbed by an organism."
Thus Ethanol is a poision. It is also a drug as it is taken for its affects (considered positive by most) on bodily function. It is not marked as poisonous as it requires copious amounts to endanger your life when comparing it to Methanol or Anti-freeze. As mentioned by the wiki page, water itself is poisonous is copious amounts.
Furthermore, I do not know of methanol being metabolised into what is found in bee stings or something similar, but I do recall from one of my first year lectures that it is metabolised by Alcohol Dehydrogenase (ADH) to Formaldehyde, which is itself toxic as it kills cellular functions and biological growth and is hence, used as a preservative. _________________ Games for Sale

i like alcohol, it helps me make random new friends, forget to sleep, thinks strip clubs are a good idea, and makes me more attractive to the opposite (and sometimes, same...) sex
it does however, after a decent 3 day bender, make me fall UP the stairs at flinders st station and break my iphone screen though _________________
