So, there's a thread for Hip-Hop, but not one dedicated to metal? I am disappoint.

So, here we are, the thread for all things metal.

I'll get the ball rolling with a few classics.

if you say stoner rock, i am going to knock you out...it is metal.

If you want to keep it strictly metal metal, then post every iron maiden song and gtfo....

Guns and roses are rock, they have always been rock.
And beyond that, the thing up there, it's a joke....i don't care if you call bieber metal.
I think gunners are rock, kurupt thinks they are metal, potato potarto in the end

Clutch aren't metal either, but when they first came out back in the dark ages, it was metal fans that took them in, same with kyuss....they didn't really have the myriad of other genre labels back in 89 - 92.
Hence why i see kyuss and clutch as metal deep down

Well, I only posted them, as they are really the songs that non-metal heads would like. Always trying to get new people into it,even if I have to show them the bland stuff first.

Now I'll get into my favourites.

Dethklok - Comet Song
Chimaira - Implements of Destruction
Obscura - Orbital Elements
Tool - Sober

All I'm going to say is - I challenge you to not put this album on loop. I've found it to be quite impossible.

EDIT: Worth it if you like Mercyful Fate or Black Sabbath.

Aaaand double post. I only recently discovered Acid Bath. Fantastic album I'm linking to here, although something I've noticed with Grooveshark is that occasionally it misses a song here and there. Ah well.

I'll list me top ten metal albums.....of all goddamn time, then you all have to go "buy" them and be overpowered by their satanic glory.

10. Megadeth - Rust in peace

9. Morgoth - Odium

8. Corrosion of Conformity - Blind

7. Entombed - Wolverine Blues

6. Nasum - Helvete

5. Atheist - Unquestionable Presence

4. Carcass - Necroticism : Descanting The Insalubrious

3. Animals As Leaders

2. Coroner - Grin

1. Ghost Reveries

If anyone else wants to list their top ten metal albums, i will gladly 'ave a look.

Honourable mentions :Suicidal Tendencies : How Will I Laugh Tomorrow
Voivod : Dimension Hatross

Fairly solid list, a few there I haven't listened to, but... Ghost Reveries? Really? I wasn't impressed with it at all when it came out. It might be time for another listen though, I haven't loaded it up since it was new.

I'm not going to list a top 10, although according to last.fm Rust In Peace is easily my most listened to metal album ever. Instead, I'll just list a few more albums via Grooveshark that are worth substantially more than one listen.

Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion

Tom Warrior's latest effort is fairly good too.

Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones

Portal - Seepia
(Adelaide band, Lovecraft inspired, some of the bleakest music ever put to record)

...and I'll link some more later. End of lunch break.

there is a lot of albums i would like to put in there, but i have probably listened to those albums the most....
i am a huge suicidal tendencies fan, but as much as i like them i couldn't find room for their albums in the ten.

Brutal Truth - Need to control was close also
and Impaled Mondo Medicale as well

Essentially i only listen to groove metal or rot and roll....i don't really listen to any straight death metal

And black metal i generally give a wide berth except for ...and oceans (although old mate burzum would disagree that it is even black metal)

Awesome thread, awesome lists. Thanks guys.

Kind or realising what a metal noob I am! thought I was cool cos I listen to Iron Maiden icon_biggrin.gif Honestly, I have only heard of half the bands on your list fetid, and only listen to (perhaps) 2 of those albums.

Will have to get stuck into it.

I was lucky enough to be in a form class or whatever they call them these days at school, that had this older dude who listened to metal.....he gave me a tape with peace sells and master of puppets on it.....and i has never looked back.
This was 1987 so i have probably had a bit of a head start.

I was just thinking I don't really know anyone who is a big metal fan... or at least no one that ever talks about it icon_lol.gif I can probably trace alot of my music interests directly to people I know. Those who exposed me to certain band/songs. Guess I just never had a metal mentor.

ps. I love master of puppets.

i also love master of puppets, the rest of their stuff, not so much.

I find metal is best to find what you like yourself these days anyway....i mean i love that nasum album up there, but a lot of metal people would probably hate it....i think it is one of the most punishing albums teh ever.
Pity their lead singer/guitarist died in the tsunami.
