I think there was something in the PALGN news section a few months ago about it coming up. I've been considering it but I already have a graphics tablet for my computer, so... _________________

I played with it at THQ in October, I think it was. Search uDraw on PALGN to find my write up. _________________

Yeah, I think I saw that it was released a cople weeks ago. Looks pretty cool, but I doubt it's really accurate. I could be wrong, though.

so it's basically to play pictionary or something right?
Why not... just play pictionary? Or get a pencil and paper?
I mean I understand the concept of using a tablet for proper digital art, I use my wacom all the time. But I doubt this is gunna have any level of accuracy that you'd want out of a tablet and the obvious lack of photoshop to play with. So... what's the point? _________________

Umm, maybe something to get kids drawing earlier than they usually would? I don't hear about many 8 year old kids on Photoshop...
It comes with uDraw Studio, then there's Pictionary and Dood's Big Adventure and a Spongebob game on the way.
And, you know, just another Wii peripheral for FUN. Remember that? Fun? _________________

That's kind of my point. We've gotten to the point were to get kids into drawing now you need to buy a 200 dollar console, a 100 dollar prephieral, and how ever much for the game to get them to start drawing.
Instead of... shit, butchers paper and crayons. _________________

I wanna say two things.
Firstly, it's as accurate as it needs to be for the Wii's SD resolution. It's not supposed to be an industry standard tablet for Photoshop or whatever. From my hands-on, it was pretty much perfectly accurate for the resolution it was working with.
Secondly, uDraw Pictionary was hillarious fun. _________________

But that's the thing, the only reason to bother with a tablet is if you're using it specifically to create digital art. Using it to do things that you can't do with a pen and paper. If you're just using it to do doodles for pictionary, then it's just a really expensive Niko texta and scrap book?

Is it actually more fun then just playing pictionary though? _________________

Well yeah, it's only used for the Wii applications, but that's something you factor in with the purchase. For some people who want to play pictionary, uDraw, and the Spongebob WarioWare-esque game it might be worth the investment. If not, it's not. My point was that in the context of its uses it's as accurate as it needs to be.
As for pictionary, well, it's pictionary. I thought it was fun because it had little features, like a constantly rotating board, etc, that could only be possible in videogames.
Again, it's one of those things that's only as useful as you want it to be. _________________

This is like the 'why would you play Wii Tennis when you could just play regular tennis argument' of a few years back. It was a dumb argument then, and its a dumb argument now. _________________

Because playing a game that requires a 24x11 meter court, sports equipment, physical hand eye coordination, a decent level of fitness etc etc. Is totally comparable to a game that requires a pencil and paper. _________________

i don't remember if i ever got my pen license, i probably never did.
this seems like the kind of thing i'll buy one day when it is dirt cheap. seems like something that people would get over fast, but i'd like to try it out and have one anyway _________________ my video game collecting blog: http://keith.nallawalla.com/

Look at it from a marketing perspective; the wii fit did reasonably well, its another fun peripheral that is going to sell. It appeals to kids and families alike....
My point is, it's going to sell well at first as it is new and exciting to a lot of people, then will eventually gather dust, like my wii fit board does, or like the 3DS will... _________________ I have no signature
