I find it strange Nintendo are restricting the VC to portable titles only. We can't they have the entire Wii range on the 3DS as well?

^I'm fairly sure it's because the Wii VC is designed to run on a TV. Not the small screen of the 3DS.

Also the TurboGrafx has also been confirmed for 3DS VC.

I expect eventually we'll also get SNES, NES and GBA, but only after NES and SNES have been optimized for the 3DS screen

That is SOOO awesome. I think Nintendo have done it again! This is a great feature for me because I walk through the Queen St mall everyday which has thousands of people. So I'm bound to pick up new Miis everyday.

That has nothing to do with it. The games can't tell what display they're outputting to, and the 3DS's res is even higher than a NES/SNES's.

The reason is probably something financial or just plain old Iwata being a dick.

Crap, my interest in the 3DS just increased... icon_sad.gif

I want I want I want!. Doesn't help that I doubt anyone will carry a 3DS around often anyway since the area I walk at lunch time is mostly office workers.

Oh no! Maybe you'll have to play all of the crap games like Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Bros 3DS and Kid Icarus instead. D:

*sigh* It was only a matter of time. Give it another week or two and they'll have figured out movies on it.

EDIT: Nintendo Power Scan on Cave Story:

Deal with the guy fell through, so I just ordered my 3DS from Amazon.

When do they bill my (Dad's) credit card: straight away or when it ships?

Canberra dates have been added to the 3DS tour. If you live in, or near Canberra then head down to the Belconnen Mall on March 24 (Exactly 1 week before launch!) between 10am and 5pm.

Has there been any information about any demo units being displayed in EB Games or any other stores? I'd really like to try it out for a bit before the actual release date.

Selected Dick Smith Electronic stores are demo-ing the 3DS up until its launch. Details here - LINK.

I had a go of it on Friday at my DSE and while i was impressed with the 3D tech, i was disappointed with the size of the console/buttons...i haven't really paid attention to the specs of the 3DS, so i was actually expecting something sturdy and fairly large in size (i guess something in between a DSi and DSiXL though i've never tried either of those) but it felt just like a DS Lite, a little flimsy and cramped when using the face buttons. The control nub was also a little awkward at first getting used to how flat it lies, but it does work well, and the screen sizes are fine.

Got to try Zelda OOT, Nintendogs/Cats and Street Fighter and once you find a good 3D slider balance the visuals are really impressive (it took me a while to find my sweet spot for Zelda, i found it quite blurry most of the time early on). Unfortunately they weren't able to demo the Augmented Reality thing, because they didn't have the cards...i was under the impression that the 3DS would simply project a still 3D image from the card, but the reps were saying you can also play AR games using the 3DS gyro tech as your controller from the cards! So i was keen to see that in action but alas i'll to wait until i get my own...

At $350 with a weak launch lineup i'm not sold yet, but i kinda regret not going for the ~$285 DSE deal when it was up icon_sad.gif

You have to remember though that the DS lite sold a few million units, while the DSi XL sold a few thousand so the smaller form factor is clearly more popular for a handheld. I know that for me personally, I wouldn't be interested at all if the 3DS was the size of the XL, I want a portable console which I can easily shove in my pocket and doesn't weigh too much.

That's not what those numbers say at all, otherwise the GBA-Micro would have been a roaring success. What those numbers say to me is that a few million people already had a DS Lite and didn't see the point in buying the same console twice.

Or it might have had something to do with the announcement of the 3DS a week before the XL came out.

Yes, but if you where Nintendo would you build on the success of your most popular hardware or take a risk on hardware which has seen less commercial success and hope that everyone actually liked this better they just didn't want to spend more money on new hardware?

Plus Nintendo are far more interested in creating portable systems that can fit in your pocket, and not giant tablets to put in your backpack.

I had a long discussion about this yesterday, and so far, everyone I've talked to has said that nobody carries portables in their pockets these days. They just don't fit well in general, and it's not very secure. The only devices in people's pockets these days are mobiles and iPods.

I went down to the 3DS tour at Southland yesterday and got to play 5 different titles, including one of the AR games. I'll put up a post about it soon, with a few pictures.

I've always kept my portables in my pockets (cept when I had no jacket and a bag)...
Am I the only one?

GOOD GUYS DEAL IS CONFIRMED, by me about an hour ago.

Chadstone has just told me that ANY game is allowed in the bundle. He confirmed these titles as launch games, at their store/stores, and they are ALL confirmed for the bundle deal. Any one of these games, plus the 3DS, for $347.

- Nintendogs and Cats
- Splinter Cell 3D
- SSF4
- Lego Star Wars 3
- Ridge Racer

I think I might get my second preorder with these guys now.

edit - Just to remind you, I think this is an instore preorder deal, not online.
He also said the bonus Case deal ends March 14th but couldn't confirm if the actual game bundle ended on the same day. He said that its unlikely though, since thats the bundle deal they're offering for preorder.
