I'd imagine it would have an entirely different set of minigames if they went down that path, the stuff from 7 was just an example.

Dammit, what a shame, was really hoping for some Versus info, its been sooo long! Some new info, a new trailer, gameplay, anything!
With XIII-2, I do hope they have made some big improvements. The battle system was one of my favourite things about the game, but I did grow tired of the corridor gameplay, the lack of towns and a world map, and fun side quests. Some real exploration would be nice, I'm a big fan of hidden areas and secrets.

I thought that too, but they'll only be a part of Eidolons' Gestalt mode and moves like Army of One by the looks of it. I'm fine with that. _________________

I absolutely cannot wait for this. Besides the MGS HD collection and Tekken Tag 2, this is my next most anticipated game. _________________

I still have to finish that.... |
I still need to open mine up for the first time
Purchased it on the cheap in April last year, and it's still sealed.
I also purchased the game guide a few months back with the intention of starting the game for the first time (plus it was cheap/reduced to clear), clearly that worked out well.... as the game is still sealed, as is the game guide.

Me too. I'm so glad they have made Serah playable, she was my favorite character from XIII.

I hate to say it... but I watched the video and I just ain't excited.
I hated the paradigm combat system and if this is ultra linear. I'm not buying it. _________________

That's not surprising considering you made your thoughts on the first game completely clear back in the FFXIII thread a while back.

/shrug. they could have reworked it more. It looks like more of the same. At least FF X-2 went all girl power and had a cool universe+combat system. _________________

you hate the paradigm combat system but like FFX-2's combat system? Sounds a bit contradictory =S btw anyone else wondering where the hell Snow is? Heck Serah didn't even say 'save me Snow' superficial relationship much? XD _________________

When it all ended, Lightning, after trusting Serah with Snow, left on her own in seek of something. Something that she did not even know. Snow promised to build a place, starting from with small city. And within this place, a big school, where Serah could teach.
From the trailer, many have asked where Snow is. This is my guess.
The city seem to have been establish and Snow has accomplished what he initially promised. When Lightning left, Serah cried and it clearly worried about her sister's whereabouts. Snow, being Snow, has set-off, maybe on Serah's request, to search for Lightning.
Now there is a flaw in this assumption of mine. In the extended trailer, when the city was attacked, Serah yelled out 'Save me Lightning'. This meant to me that she know Snow is clearly not around to save her. Normally, in Japanese stereotypical fashion, it isn't uncommon for characters to yell out "Save me [insert name]", even when the person isn't around or the said person suddenly appears.
However, because she called out Lightning instead of Snow, and it seems like Lightning is still "away", it would meant Snow may no longer alive, which is why she didn't called out his name. _________________ 「貧乳はステータスだ!希少価値だ!」 - 泉 こなた

There are a few key differences between the two combat systems. In FFX-2, you could change your class with the final goal of getting that more powerful form when you hit all the dressphere nodes (the name of it escapes me right now), and you didn't have to change classes during battle at all against weaker enemies. That's not in XIII. Also, in FFXIII, it's too much of an action based battle system for my taste, whereas in X-2 you had more time to think, which I like when I'm playing a JRPG. I pretty much agree with TheMan here.

Multiple Endings, DLC--- E3 interview
Although Kitase felt like the universe of the original FFXIII was complete, he sees a big potential in it. He hopes to make new content in FFXIII-2 be worthy of this universe.
He was disappointed by how the DLC for FFXIII was handled, and assures there will be more content for FFXIII-2. Perhaps this is a suggestion for a planned DLC in the sequel.
Versus is not being affected in any way by the development of FFXIII-2.
SE is not planning on making core numbered FF games for handhelds as they see these games only using cutting edge graphics.
Currently there is no Wii U version of FFXIII-2 in the works, but they are looking into it
Full Interview
| Quote: | Interviews with Toriyama and Kitase have popped up online with plenty of new details on FFXIII-2 contained within them. Recognition of the negative reaction from gamers to the original title is a key factor in development of the game with the team at Square Enix dedicated to making it more “Player driven”. Here are all the new details divulged by the duo today. There are a lot.
Although FFXIII sold over 6 million units worldwide, the team realised the launch was fairly lackluster with a mixed reaction from gamers and reviewers.
Toriyama believes with Final Fantasy XIII-2, the franchise is back on track.Linearity was the main cause of concern. They decided that for the sequel, all the positive parts of the game would be included or improved upon and the parts which were criticized would absolutely have to be tackled. They knew things had to be changed from the original formula. Toriyama believes with Final Fantasy XIII-2, the franchise is back on track.
Linearity is addressed in multiple ways. The new dialog tree implemented allows player to converse with NPCs with multiple outcomes and they’ll be reducing the amount of cutscenes used to break up the narrative focusing on more interactive storytelling. Standing still at certain locations can trigger dynamic cutscenes but they won’t be stopping you if you want to proceed. They want players to explore and trigger cutscenes by themselves rather than force them upon people. The Live Trigger system gives you multiple ways to tackle your current objective. These can include performing tasks which could for example make an upcoming boss battle easier or even avoid it completely. Branching paths remove the linear corridors you were forced to follow in the original and side quests will finally return including plenty of dungeons to explore. The key theme being introduced into this title is choice and freedom, and that these choices will impact the story. With this comes the startling announcement that FFXIII-2 will contain multiple endings. How many endings are possible hasn’t been revealed yet but it’s still a great departure from what we’ve seen before, even if it has been done countless times in other titles.
Several new gameplay features were revealed yesterday including QTE’s, Mog Clock and the ability to jump and although the battle system remains largely unchanged, there are a few more tweaks. Serah won’t be able to summon Eidolons as she isn’t a l’cie anymore but she can instead call monsters to her aid as a third party member. They refused to go into further detail but it’s apparently much deeper in application than described so far. Another complaint addressed was the lack of plenty of mini-games usually found in Final Fantasy titles. Apparently they will be featured in XIII-2 but no details have been revealed. A re-designed game map will also be included. No details on the leveling system have been given yet. Toriyama also said that they plan to allow you to play the game multiple times but when asked whether this meant a “New Game +” type system with characters experience and items carried over, he said they preferred to offer an alternative system to that.
Talking about development, Kitase stated that they wanted to add much more
XIII-2 is designed to expand the universe so DLC has been planned from the beginning of development.content to the game that would be worthy of it’s predecessor. He was disappointed by the decision to not release DLC for FFXIII but XIII-2 is designed to expand the universe so DLC has been planned from the beginning of development. Toriyama says they can’t confirm how many DLC packs could be made available. Kitase also made sure to add that development of XIII-2 hadn’t impacted on the development of Final Fantasy Versus XIII in any way. Finally, when Kitase was asked whether the game could appear on Nintendo’s new Wii U console, he said that they’re looking into the format but currently XIII-2 will be limited to PS3 and Xbox 360. |

According to a SE representative, Final Fantasy XIII-2 may take up to 3 to 4 discs depending on how much compression they will have to do. The game's campaign mode is said to be at least 40 hours long (not including side-quests) and if players love doing sidequests, another 40 hours can be expected. _________________ Play-Asia Affiliate Link For Gaming Bargain

I'm quite looking forward to this. While I didn't think XIII quite lived up to expectations, it was still a solid, enjoyable game and the sequel is looking to be even better. While I'm happy to fork out for a limited edition (if there is one) and will happily purchase DLC if it is a significant addition to the game, I hope they're not planning on milking us for cash with any day 1 DLC.
Still way more keen for Versus than this, but I guess this will help tide me over for a FF fix home console-wise:P _________________
