I haven't preordered but that shouldn't be a problem, right?
Looking to get it from JB. _________________

I'd be really surprised if it sold out. So yeah I think you'll be fine. _________________

Yeah defiantly not sold out. I'd say the 'casual' market doesn't even know about the PS Vita. Only us gamers.
Anyhow, back EB. The guy that was working has no idea what the data plans will be for 3G so I couldn't ask him the question I wanted to ask.
I was told to back back Monday/Tuesday when he gets the stock n' all. _________________ Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned.

For the love of god and all that is holy, don't even consider even getting Shinobido. Worst game for the Vita EVER! _________________

I've gotta say, there's not a lot of competition.
Anyway, if anybody's looking for a handy PlayStation Vita price round-up of the Aussie retailers (including memory card prices), check out this article I wrote earlier. _________________

I really tried to like that game, thinking maybe it was a Tenchu clone or something like that, but no it was clone of a piece of turd, not even the whole turd, just a piece.
It's incredibly boring, the controls are hideous, watching a piece of turd dry would be more exciting. Ok fine it was probably rushed, but you still have to put a "game" in there some where.
Wipeout is pretty awesome for those who want a racing game, forget Ridge Racer, 3 tracks and 5 cars (whoa hang on Namco, don't put too many cars or tracks, we don't want to be spoilt for choice), oh ok it's 6 tracks, I forgot if you mirror them they become "totally different".
Ah those crazy prices for Australia, shopping in Australia need to introduce "Bicamera/Yodobashi-like" points cards or something. _________________

JB are going to have fun dealing with me if they try to get out of giving me the HIVE accessories pack. I don't care if I saw a sign saying it's sold out (after I had paid). The dude at the counter did not mention it to me before I put down the $20 minimum.
The new catalogue even advertises the deal and doesn't mention it selling out.
I will be there . store open so should be no reason why I don't get one.

Has anybody looked into getting one from America? I like the US$250 idea... I plan on getting one anyways, but wont be getting one at launch for $350... when people in here for a little while thought they were going to be about $280 at other retailers I convinced myself to buy it on release... but I just can't get my head around the $350
Most US stores wont ship consoles internationally (Quite possibly it's part of a contract they sign) but if anybody knows of any that do, I'd like to know

Thanks Bronze. It seems that JB have the best pricing on the games, I'll be heading over there after picking up my console on Thursday. _________________

I'll just get EB to price match everything (Wifi Vita, 16GB Card, Uncharted, Wipeout, Everybody's Golf, and most importantly, Lumines!).
No point cancelling my preorder now. _________________

Does the Vita use Media Go? I was tempted to get one with the GAME trade deal (PSP Go for $50) but they aren't letting you trade in PSPs anymore. There isn't really anything there I want to buy at launch so I think I'll just wait for now and look for a deal.
Stupid new gaming hardware. I think if they released a Atari Jaguar 2 I'd probably endup buying it cause I won't be able to help myself. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Nope it doesn't, the past Media Go use to look at the memory stick that's in your PSP. The Vita uses a new proprietary memory card, something to do with the new anti-piracy that Sony is using.
For your Vita file management, you have to use Sony's new software Content Manager Assistant.
Windows version:
http://cma.dl.playstation.net/cma/win/en/index.html
Mac version:
http://cma.dl.playstation.net/cma/mac/en/index.html
| Quote: | | Content Manager Assistant for PlayStation® is a computer application that enables data transfer between a PS Vita system and a computer. By installing it on your computer, you can do things like copy content from your computer to your PS Vita system and back up data from your PS Vita system to your computer. |

Three days to go, hype level rising!
Also, a question for those who already have one. Can you put a password/lock on them, the way you can on an iPod/iPhone? _________________

1up did a comparison on the PSP vs Vita (it's on their site). They said the emulation is almost perfect, load times are way faster and the screen makes the PSP games look a hell of a lot better. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Jeremy and I decided to put Vita's emulation prowess to the test and do a side-by-side comparison. The system on top is a PSP 2000 (sorry, our 3000 was in the shop at the time), and the one below it needs little introduction at this point. Both are running the game off of internal storage. Check out the video above to see the results and feel free to ask questions or comment below. |
| www.destructoid.com wrote: | PSP games played on the new PlayStation Vita will see a bit of a visual upgrade with the system's bilinear filtering option. Sony Japan says that it smooths out the roughness in PSP games. I'd imagine that the big, brilliant Vita screen would show the rough edges of PSP games easily.
Tapping and holding down on the Vita screen during play of a PSP game will bring up an options menu, and in there you'll be able to select this filtering option, along with options for right analog stick use and others.. 4Gamer says that once they found this somewhat hidden option, they noticed smoother graphics and text, though they said it didn't have a huge effect in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. This video shows both the option menu and the filtering at work on PSP game Final Fantasy Type-0.
There's an image that has been going around, and it gives a detailed look at the effect of this option. You can see part of that image above. Left, you'll see the unfiltered image; the right shows the effect applied. Another Japanese blog highlights the changes in text, as you'll see below the jump. |

Answered my own question, you can indeed set a screen lock on the Vita.
| Quote: | | Tap [Security] > [Screen Lock], and set the four digit number on the screen that appears. The screen lock makes it necessary to enter the passcode when turning on the PS Vita system or when recovering from the standby mode. This prevents unauthorized use by a third party. |
I'm glad to see this option is available. _________________

To be honest, I kind of want a Vita because of the screen size. After using my Galaxy Nexus for a couple of weeks, the 3DS screen just seems so small, especially when playing games like MGS3. Is there any trade deals for a 3DS-Vita?

Yeah, I find the 3DS screen size to be tiny. As for trade-in deals, GAME have been offering the Wi-Fi Vita for $175 if you trade in a 3DS plus 1 game. I made use of that offer myself. You should call and see if they're still offering it though.
Searching around, it's the only deal I can find, and it's not half bad.
Also, I forgot to mention that Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is a launch title in Australia, available at JB (in-store) and GAME (online). EB don't appear to be stocking it. _________________

Those who are hyped about the Vita, you really have good reason to be.
Had mine since Christmas and absolutely loving it. Looking forward to the AU release so I can get more games though (LUMINES!) as only a couple of games had English support (Marvel/Blazblue/Uncharted) in Japan.
Yeah Ads, the screen lock works a treat. You only get five stuffups though so don't try to unlock it while ridiculously wasted, I'm scared to see what happens if you stuff up. Might just lock you out or something.
Shinobido 2 demo I have, but have not played yet. I keep hearing it's awful though...
Anyone has any other questions about it let me know, I've put it to the test as best as I can. _________________ Host on Australian gaming TV show Level 3

DarkYoshii:
I will take you up on your offer!
Firstly, do you also own a 3DS? If so, how much better are the Vita's graphics, roughly speaking of course? Perhaps take the best looking Vita game in your opinion, compared to what you think is the best looking 3DS game...
Second, how are the loading times? I know both the Vita and 3DS use cartridges, but there's always a LITTLE loading on some titles on both systems.
Third, do your hands get tired holding the Vita? Maybe a silly question, but to me the 3DS isn't very comfortable to hold for long.
Fourth, does the Vita feel solid? 3DS, again, feels a bit flimsier than I thought it would, don't get me wrong I still love it!
Will be online later, I'm sure I'll have more questions for you. Thanks!
