Amazon wasn't shipping the Vita outside of Japan anyway. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

yeah but no price, just a registration of interest.
last time this happened the play-asia price was similar or just a little under the ebay prices (some of the ebay pre-order prices are $600+AUD). _________________

At this rate (doesn't seem like Ami-Ami will stock it), I might just have to wait for the official release and import it from the states or something like that *shrugs* _________________

Or... you could come to Japan and line up with me!
Well actually I got my cousin to get me a couple via pre-orders, so at the very least I definitely have mine.
but will still need to do the line up to get a few more extra units. _________________

Hahahahahahaha, awfully tempting, but my parents would skin me alive if I skipped the country, right before my graduation ceremony _________________

Graduation?!?! You mean the graduation from PSP to PSV right? Skin you alive? It'll be worth it, and skin grows back!
I'm also going to Hong Kong end of the year so I'll see the price of the Vita there too, I'm sure it'll be more expensive compared to Japan but no doubt it should be cheaper than ebay prices (that's assuming there's stock). _________________

I would have preordered if not for the button swap on the JAP models. Will wait for US launch. _________________

Is that... is that serious? Are they seriously going to charge us nearly $150 more for the 3G model than the US is paying?

Hah, well there you go! I could have sworn you'd had one at some point, but I guess we can't be right all the time.

Well that's not so bad, about 2 and half months after Japan. It's good to see that the time difference between the different region launch window is narrowing.
The pricing difference is to be expect, and so will be the expected bitching, but there is no law against anyone importing at a cheaper price so there is always that choice. _________________

Indeed, unlike the 3DS, there's no penalty for importing the console. Personally though, I'll be waiting for the Aussie release since I'll probably end up buying the 3G version. It's a little pricey, but a U.S one wouldn't exactly be much use. _________________

I was just reading the hands on with the Vita that Sony published on their website yesterday, and thought that the GPS section was particularly interesting:
| Quote: | GPS
PS Vita titles feature fun-filled creation tools that you'll want to share with friends and other players around the world. Using GPS, you'll be able to create combatants in Reality Fighters and leave them anywhere you like for other players to find. You'll also be able to clock up plenty of ModMiles in ModNation Racers by visiting real locations and checking your score on location-based leaderboards. |
Being able to 'drop' game content in various locations for other people to find is such a cool idea.
Vita game prices not so high?
| Quote: | | We knew Final Fantasy X was being reworked in HD for both a PS3 and PS Vita release, but this is the first mention of it for U.S. territories, in an Amazon listing discovered earlier today. While it isn’t surprising that this is going to come West, what is almost of more interest is the price point. Amazon believes that PS Vita games – at least this one – will be priced at $39.99. Considering they have a pre-order guarantee and all, they usually make sure their info is correct when they put it up. So, unless this is some kind of mistake, it’s a pretty good general idea of how Vita games will be priced in the U.S. Take that for what you will, yeah? |

It totally is the PSP 2. PSP was PS2 on a handheld, Vita is PS3 on a handheld.
I'm still not convinced there is a market for ports/full blown AV games on handhelds. _________________ Shin J Leon.

I think there's a market, as long as you keep your audience in mind, and modify the games a little to suit the portability of the console. Having the ability to save often, in order to accomodate short bursts of play is essential. Having the option of putting the handheld into sleep mode is also handy, since you can pause and resume a game at any time, even if you haven't saved. As long as you have these things, as well as a healthy variety of games, there will be a market.
The majority of my favourite PSP & DS games are ones that offer a similar experience to the games that I enjoy on my consoles. This includes having the familiar dedicated gaming buttons on the handheld. Being able to take that kind of quality wherever you go is great, and will always hold my attention much more than any mobile phone game. _________________
