This may sound like a stupid question but do any places online sell Microsoft cheaper than RRP. I know this is common with subscriptions so I was hoping that it was the same for points. Do American points work for our consoles?

I've always found buying them on the 360 is the cheapest, or equal cheapest.

Which is reaffirmed by the prices listed above, seeing as it's $16.50 for 1000 points or $33 for 2000, which is equivalent to $24.75 for 1500 points.

Never buy from retail stores unless there is some special. Even JB rips off customers with their pricing on Microsoft Points. Go online to the links everyone else above me have posted. Much better value and sometimes quicker too.

This site here: http://www.cheapgames.com.au/xbox-genuine-live-1500-microsoft-points-card-p-2768.html sells them for $26 and emails the code within 30 minutes or so, maybe even quicker.

There's also GameLane for $24.95, they also email them out quickly: http://www.game-lane.com.au/xbox-360-accessories/1649-xbox-live-1500-microsoft-point-card-xbox-360.html

MS are adding a paypal update soon to Xbox Live so that might be the cheapest and easiest way to get points if you don't have or want to use a credit card on Xbox Live.

Just got 5 months of Gold for $5. Here's how:

You need to have a current XBL account (either silver or gold) and once signed in on the web site go to this link: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/hulu-plus/jack-links

You should see the $1 promo offer appear. Choose the 'Go Gold Now' icon and follow the directions.

Each transaction will add another month onto your XBOX live subscription. I did it 5 times and was unable to progress any further, however my account does have 5 months access added. I will try to add more later so see what you can get.

Just remember to ring up the XBL support line and disable Auto-Renew before your $1 promo periods end so you don't get charged the regular monthly price. Call 1800 555 741 and it takes only a few minutes.


Please take note of the bolded bit of the quote.

My next renewal date is 16 October 2011. I've left myself a note to call ten days prior to cancel.
