|
|
|
|
This might sound a little ridiculous, but bare with me here. I really need some help from some fellow men .
So for quite some time now I used Lynx Roll On Dry antiperspirant and I always thought it worked, but then my armpits felt sticky so I looked under and bam....I had some nice wet stains on the pit area. Except it's not really sweat stains because it smells like my antiperspirant.
So I asked a few mates about it and they said try some spray on, so I did but the same problem occured.
I decided to try a different brand so I grabbed some Rexona roll-on. Unfortunately it did a worse job and I had to put on a jumper like I did all throughout the winter.
So my friend finally recommended me some Rexona antiperspirant DRY which worked a charm for them. I applied it and although it took longer, these wet marks once again appeared.
What I don't get is why it's happening, I don't sweat much at all generally and I can be feeling incredibly dry once I shower, but the second I apply any antiperspirant the wetness just comes and makes it look like I'm sweating.
So I thought I'd ask here to save me from any more embarassing social situations. Has anyone here had the same problem and know how to solve it? _________________

I've always found sprays useless. And for some reason, Lynx might smell nice initially, but when mixed with BO, it smells like crap... worse than BO.
I've been using Rexona Forces for Men rollon for 6 months or so now. Roll on a quick, thin layer 5 mins or so before putting my shirt on and no wetness, no sweating all day. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

Ok so, I know for a fact, Andrew was having the same problem.
His mum bought him The clinical protection roll on from Rexona. Seems to work.

Yes you can
Cant guarantee prices though, they are allocated by postcode.
(urls deleted due to uselessness and size.)
Prices at both woolworths and coles are $15.04 _________________

Might go try this clinical protection thing out then, got nothing to lose.
Just to confirm the "applying too much thing" I only spray for about 1 second and when I used roll on I go up down, up down and that's it. So I don't think that's too much? _________________

Lynx is filthy. Most guys I know that use it apply it vigorously and walk around smelling like a chemical plant. Even their marked antiperspirants are incredibly weak and don't do much to prevent sweat.
As previous posters said, Rexona seems to be on the better end of shelf available antiperspirants in supermarkets. It's because the sprays and whatnot are actually a very fine powder, compared to the...I wouldn't even classify the Lynx stuff as liquid.
Give the clinical Rexona a go. If not, I'd recommend possibly seeing a Doctor about excess sweating and seeing if there are any other clinical antiperspirants that may help you.

Just bought the Clinical Rexona. $14 bucks but I guess that's the price to pay to not sweat.
Has anyone used Mitchum? I hear it lasts 48 hours....is it proven that this is better than Lynx/Rexona? _________________

I've used a variation, i get the same thing with Lynx.... but it's more convenient for me to use. I also use Rexona spray as an alternate choice.

You get wet patches with Lynx? How do you put up with it then? _________________

I use Lynx Voodoo, and girls tell me that I smell good, so I guess that's a pretty good one to use . And it never seems to smell bad or anything after a while, seems to work pretty good for me.

The active ingredient you need to look for is 'aluminium chloride hexahydrate' (aluminium chlorohydrate). This will reduce the sweating. Most DO for the BO's have a 2-5% amount of aluminium chloride, which is bugger all if you sweat a bit. But there are certain brands which have much more. Try Rexona activreserve, which is a spray, or Driclor, which is a roll-on. Rexona has 18% and Driclor has 20% aluminium chloride, and both work quite well.

I wouldn't overuse antiperspirants. They are full of chemicals that surely cant be good for your skin. _________________

Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I confirmed Rexona Dry doesn't work at all either looking at my shirt. Will try it out tonight/tomorrow and get back to you. Thanks for letting me know about it though. _________________

I had this problem and the only thing that worked was Driclor. It stings and irritates the skin for the first few times you apply it, but it works like a charm. I don't sweat at all anymore as long as I apply it about twice a month.

I would be wary as well. Sweat is the bodies homeostatic (temperature regulating) response to overheating. Try not too block it too much _________________

There are disorders which can make you over-perspire though (one of my lecturers has a really bad problem like this). _________________

Yeah, me too. Maybe it's because when I went to high school, girls were known to use Impulse as a weapon, like pepperspray only nicer smelling.

Ok I tried that clinical protection. It worked a charm....for a bit. Walked into a hot room and bam, wet patches ahoy.
I'm starting to think maybe this is just a stress related thing? I am stressed about a lot due to year 12 exams and stressed about this underarm thing, so maybe that's what's bringing it on? _________________
