Street Fighter X Tekken appears to play like Street Fighter IV, locked onto a 2D plane, with both Tekken and Street Fighter characters performing EX-style super moves. The match started off with Ryu versus Jin Kazama, but Ono and Harada tagged in two more characters, Street Fighter's Chun-li and Tekken's Nina Williams.

Huh? So its SF4 meets Capcom Crossover series? icon_confused.gif
Quote:
Harada followed that playable match with an announcement of his own, confirming that Tekken X Street Fighter is also in development at Namco.

Considering the rumors saying the namco made one is going to be like tekken, it's going to probably end up weird(like the 3d plane SF games).

Basically that sums ups SF vs Tekken as being a successor to the MvC series in my opinion......It's soughta disappointing that it's restricted to Tekken only, Namco do have a couple of interesting franchises that might work in a fighting game.

Anyway, lets just wait for some trailers before we judge further.

OK strange announcement. It's SF and Tekken only.

I mean, it's kind of a slap in the face for Tekken fans, it's just 2D and a cross over game. It's using the SFIV engine as well and kind of looks like a rip off using the SFIV character models and animations.

HRMMMMMMM. Why Capcom? What's the point of this game?

Yeah but there's also a Tekken vs SF game which will be using the Tekken engine I guess.

I will skip the Capcom one because I agree with you Leon, it looks like SF reskinned, but look forward to the Namco one.

Perhaps, that hasn't been confirmed though. I don't think it will happen because putting SF character into a 3D space is a lot harder then putting 3D into 2D.

I mean, I don't understand how the balance will work. There are no protectiles in Tekken. Effectively they are all rush/grapplers. Imagine Eddie? What the hell?

They will probably be given E.Honda "hand slap" or Chun Li "thunder kick" style moves.

Well colour me surprised, I didn't actually think this would've been true. I agree with Leon though, the Tekken mechanics are completely different than that in SF, so I imagine the former will have to be redesigned some what.

According to Joystiq...

But that's not all! Ono also revealed that Namco Bandai would be developing Tekken X Street Fighter, which will be developed in-house at Tekken, and spearheaded by long-time franchise producer Katsuhiro Harada. Both titles will be released for 360 and PS3, though according to a cheeky slide at the end of the presentation, the current release window is "not for a while

wow. thanks for that. Before watching it, I would have posted "meh" but just hearing the crowd go wild, the excitement regarding this title seems real and tangible. The cheering was infectious.

Want.

It's a dumb idea. You will have players that will prefer a certain engine and on top of that you have it split across the 360 and PS3. So the community will be divided by 4 ways.

I would have preferred Capcom vs SNK 3.

but now they will sell 2 copies if not 4

Viva la fighting games.
More specifically, Viva la Tekken.

I don't really like the art style of Kaz though in the SF X Tekken game. I think I am too used to the T6 style >__>.

I will very likely be just be getting Tekken X Street Fighter.I May get the other one though as even though I'm not a SF fan, I have considered buying SSF4 and this will have Tekken characters so that may be th ereason I need to get this.

One thing that makes me smile is the fact that a guy on another site was 100% sure this would/could not happen. Well I guess that know it all prick was wrong. He might just commit suicide when he finds out it's possible for him to be wrong.

It's in SSFIV that mechanic. Gouken and Juri have wall rebound type moves.

I just don't like those Tekken character tainting SFIV icon_lol.gif Doesn't sit right with me...

Agreed that they should have let this game simmer for a while before announcing it to the public but I can't help but be intrigued by the game, it's on my radar for sure. Anyway, it's just good to see the fighting genre truly alive and well, its future is looking bright. I can't say the same for my savings account though.

I can't really agree with the "tainting" comment as I think the Tekken roster is as solid as the SF roster. The gameplay looks just fine to me and with the inclusion of another roster, the possibilities for new things opens up. The SFIV engine in that gameplay video already shows some additions from Tekken. Ryu did a Tekken-style wake up roll into a Shoryuken. What's not to like about that? I mean if people were open to Capcom characters using an SNK engine and vice versa what's wrong with this?

Give me a Bruce Lee vs Bruce Lee fight with Fei Long and Law please. Also, I hope Anna Williams shows up.

It looks like this is going to be just like Capcom vs. SNK and SNK vs. Capcom where the engine follows that of the first company named.

Cause... fuck yeah Dan!

Also Steve/Dudley team up will be epic.
