They announced months ago that voice support would not be available in several countries including Australia because they're too lazy to program it to recognize a range of Australian accents. It is a feature coming, I believe, "late 2011".

except that's bullshit cause people have been putting there x-box's to US accounts and the voice understands there accent fine.
Also it's early 2011 not late. _________________

Thats completely ridiculous....honestly Microsoft are such lazy greedy fucks sometimes....I'm xbox through and through usually but even I can recognise when they fuck up. Just shows they don't give a rats ass about us.....there's no way I'm buying this now, how unbelievably stupid advertising voice capabilities and not prominently displaying THAT IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK. _________________

If they're advertising it and it's not actually working in it, isn't that illegal? _________________

wow, that bad.
couldn't they at least just give us the US version until they release the AUS update and we can all do our best american accents. i remember doing that on SOCOM a few years back. wouldn't recognize my commands so i just layed on a real thick american accent and it worked like a charm.

It is pretty bad, but its not a HUGE deal. It would be great to have and its fun as a novelty to start, but as long as it comes in a few months its not THAT bad. The only stupid thing is that I have had not one bit of trouble when logged in to US account. It has done what I have said every single time even with my gf shouting at it at the same time.

Well, it does rather ruin JB's advertising for the Kinect.

Exactly, I haven't heard ANYTHING about it not working in AUS except for here...horrible marketing on MS part. If I went out and bought it only to suprisingly discover that voice didn't work I would be ropeable, thats one of the things I want it for. _________________

Phreak: Well, games like that still work, but obviously you don't get the full experience.
Microsoft really need to pick up their game. I mean, sure they didn't want to delay the release of the Kinect here, but bringing it here without one of its big features is just silly. Especially when some people are saying it's actually the best part of it at the moment, given the game situation.
Why we have to wait for voice control. Seriously MS, if you know its going to take a while, then give yourself enough time to get it done. Funny how they had no trouble preparing it in time for the various accents and slang of the American people.
I find it amusing that the official Australian Xbox site's Kinect page even has the guts to list voice control as a feature. No, it's not. _________________

I would not say its the best feature. Games are really fun and i would be very upset if it got delayed in australia for the voice situation. The biggest problem for me is that they have not made it clear that the feature is not yet available and it is being advertised. They should make it more clear.
Espicially since its marketed towards people who do not search the internet and read updates on the net _________________

Its not the best feature, but its a big part of it, and a big part of the advertising.
Honestly I'm still fuming over it. I'm not that disapointed that its not in there, its just the fact that they HAVEN'T SAID A GODDAM WORD ABOUT IT. That just pushes me over the edge, its false advertising. And you can be your ass that they are well aware sales would have dropped if they actually told us about it.
Fuck Microsoft and their bullshit.
Once again to clarify, I don't care that we have to wait a few months for it, its just the fact they aren't telling us....I am so glad I didn't buy this just on principle. _________________

Still should be much clearer, and it should have been made apparent ages ago. _________________

It's better than nothing I guess. Now all we need is for the retailers to do something similar. _________________

Kinectimals disables voice support on launch if it's disabled in the console's settings. So yeah, no voice commands, and no naming your kitty. If you try to do it, it just records silence.
Not a huge problem since the game is almost entirely based on gesture recognition, but it still feels incomplete without it. _________________

I hadnt thought of the gameplay aspect, only the menu commands. This is actually a horrendous stuff up by MS... in fact, I almost can't believe it _________________

Not really sure but, can you not just use a USB extension cable? Unless you have a 360 slim and are going to use the proper Kinect port. _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

Went to a mates house today and played Adventures, Dance (whatever it's called) and the EA fitness game.
It's O K. It's pretty laggy and unresponsive. The fitness thing was probably my pick. I didn't really like any of the other games. Aventures was fun but not any more fun then what's available on the Wii.
It has potential but it wasn't really a polished experience. I certainly won't be buying one anytime soon unless they release something amazing. _________________ Shin J Leon.
