Just spotted a picture for this on Games Warehouse and decided to click on it to have a look.. and it looks pretty interesting and I'm thinking I might pre-order it.
According to what I read, it's a remake of 2006 game DarkStar One with upgraded graphics and a bigger galaxy.
Anyone here who's played DarkStar One? Would like to know how story based it is, if there are side quests and how much time can be put into the game?
According to Wikipedia, it got 71/100 from Metacritic but was called simplistic and repetitive by ActionTrip. _________________

i have the pc version, it was pretty low budget, it's a clone basically of X2, X3.....
but it isn't horrible by any means, the shooting is solid and there is a crapload of ships and weaponry......i don't recall it being as based in carrying supplies around and selling them as the X games.....but it is a loooong game if you want to do everything.
I will be getting it today on 360 as i miss these space flight games like freespace and the X games and while it isn't the greatest space game out there, it is fun, and the mechanics of the game work fine.
So yes, alright but same as usual space story, plenty side quests, a loooooong time can be put into it.
The missions may get repetitive but, the flying and shooting is fun.
The graphics were also pretty good on pc i must say.
I will post some impressions of the 360 game over the weekend once i have had a chance to get up it.
FYI the pc version is $10 if you can find it. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

okay played the arse out of it over the weekend, i love it personally....
i was getting X-3 confused with this one, you only have one ship in darkstar, but the object is to upgrade it from fun loving star ship to death dealing ship from hell....
With trading, you can do as much or as little as you like. I preferred to get money by just blasting pirates around the place as it pays alright money....especially later on when each pirate pays 1400 credits and they are coming at you in groups of six.
The flight can be a bit annoying at the start when docking with trade stations all the time, but you can buy a docking computer later which makes it automatic.
The voice acting is terrible and the cut scenes look like they were done in a blender....but really it doesn't detract from the fun i was having upgrading my ship to be able to go into new sectors and start causing havoc there.
So there is a loose storyline which you sort of have to follow to open new sectors of space but apart from that it's up to you how you want to go about making money.....
Thank god someone finally released a game like this, even though it isn't that polished and certainly isn't the best game of this type, but it is one of the only ones on 360 apart from project sylpheed, which is god awful.
I am enjoying it plenty good and put in about 15 hours over the weekend and am probably about 1/3 of the way through it, so it will probably take a while to complete fully. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

Did you get the original game or the rerelease with better graphics? Wonder if the voice acting and cutscenes get a go-over if you got the original. _________________

The 360 version looks about the same as the pc version i have.....the voice acting is awful and so are the cutscenes, exactly the same in both versions. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

No, DarkStar One and DarkStar One: Broken Alliance are different games, or at least DarkStar One: Broken Alliance is a remastered version.. kinda like Chronicals of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and Chronicals of Riddick: Dark Athena. _________________
