just started hot pursuit on PC. I had to quit because I thought the mirror blockiness was a bug but then I read that its designed that way. The graphics are really nice on the PC and for the mirrored/reverse to look that strange is a bit off putting. That said, raced about 9 different laps and something feels missing. Music? Polish? Not sure. When you enter the "car reveal" bits, there is hardly any audio which makes it feel sort of bland.
Right now, its not as gratifying as burnout was despite having taken onboard a lot of that games traits (nitro/close calls/otherside racing/slow mo crashes).
Burnout Paradise felt a lot more enegaging

THEMAN - by the mirror do you mean how it's gray background and yellow cars? That's so useful as you can actually see stuff then

Yeah Grim's times are terrifying.
On another note, I suck so much at racing games, yet I am enjoying this quite a lot. So far it's no Burnout Paradise, but it could still prove me wrong.

Haha, yeah, this is the first racing game I've picked up for many, many years (well, except for Mario Kart DS I guess), and although being terrible makes me a little sad, I'm really enjoying the cop missions where you have to take down X amount of racers. I guess I find immense pleasure in wrecking people's cars.

with regards to this: Burnout PSP / and burnout 3 was the epitome and grunt of pure takedown pleasure. It just got mad. I still remember those days of forcing takedowns. Super intense super charger.

I went and had a look after reading that. Mine still prompts me to buy the pack if I go into the Super Sports event (X = Buy instead of Race).

Just started playing hot pursuit on 360, not bad but like everyone the controls take a bit to get used to. Hopefully I can beat some of your times

So, loaded up NFS:hot pursuit again (mainly cause I couldn't remember if it was open woeld like burnout paradise) and totally getting back into it again. Would be nice if the autolog included a ghost of the top-time so I can see why I suck. Still - fun eh! Tempted to make a new PSN account so I can rank up again. The level cap is too low (and the DLC too expensive - perhaps a discount is due in the run up to NFS:run ....are we getting hyped??

What's in the DLC besides a handful of races and a couple of new cars? I don't remember even being remotely tempted to buy it.

"Armed and dangerous" is the only real gameplay modificaion DLC:
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit: Armed and Dangerous, contains two all-new game modes that expand and extend the spectacular online experience. "Most Wanted" is an open world battle where the cops are out to bust a specific racer while the racers battle to protect them, making full use of the open world, weaponry and demanding team tactics. In āArms Raceā itās every man for himself as racers use their full arsenal of weaponry on each other in ruthless races to the finish
The rest is tracks and cars and pretty weak BUT you can't platinum the game without the DLC?
