It's sad that such an amazing franchise could turn into shovelware. I kind of wish Activision would remake TH 1-4 in a HD collection and release that on a disc.

On 360 more people have played My Horse and Me 2 than Ride in Australia. MH&M2 wasn't even released here.

If postage from playasia was free I'd almost be tempted to pick up a copy as they're flogging them off for about $80, postage is an extra $30 or so. Not a wise investment.

.... Activison peripheral life span is a major contributor in the fact no one really wants to take the risk here. That, and Skate is a much more rewarding franchise.

I don't think this game will utilise the board at all. That SKU completely bombed all over. I expect them to go back to the Project 8 formula.

It might have bombed, but didn't DJ hero bomb as well, and from all indications, Thats getting a Sequel (Not all out confirmed yet, but people keep saying I'm in it).
And i think Activision have hinted to as much with the next Tony Hawk game. By all means, the should keep the peripheral there as a Control Option, but also have a traditional controller option aswell.

I was always kind of hoping that in a weird way, they'd have taken the Tony Hawk: Underground model but amped it up to eleven. I mean, Skate pretty much owns the ground Tony Hawk wants these days, right? They're not getting it back. So they need to forge new ground. Believe it or not, Ride was a good idea strategically, just a lousy idea conceptually.

So here's my thought: Take the THUG beginning. Rookie skater, no sponsorship. Give him a number of real friends. Mix in a few adult themes. Then, you get noticed. You can also tip off the sponsors to some of, but not all of, your friends, creating some tension. Start up the story. Give it a dark side about sudden rises to fame and money.

Sigh. Yes, I basically want Tony Hawk: The RPG. But it could seriously work, I say. Stat up your character to be a devastating vert skater or a street technician, or try to come up with a decent hybrid. Make moral choices along the way that impact the plot. Find what skating is really about even though it returns you to obscurity, define an identity that makes you a popular alternative skater figure, or sell-out with the best of the corporate whores for big bucks. Make it worth replaying on two levels; to nail the challenges, and to see all the possible story lines.

Hell, I'd buy that game.

^ That is a cool idea, although they really need to 'borrow' Skate's control system. Going back and playing old TH games is like going to back to FPS before the days of twin sticks/ keyboard mouse.

^that would insure that that I would never touch a THPS game again.

That is part of why THPG ruined the series for me.The game was to serious or my tastes.I want the series to go back to it's silly roots. Not THUG2 silly though as that game was pretty shit.

**** me. Reading this thread, no wonder no one likes the Tony Hawk games now, they can't manage to get the exact perfect game that each individual person wants.

I'd settle for a fun game myself. All this cutscene and stats rubbish detracts from actually skating.

I can't stand the controls in Skate.

Loved all the earlier games in the Tony Hawk series, Proving ground couldn't hold my attention, but I played the rest to completion.

The main thing I liked in the Tony Hawk games was finding hidden areas and easter eggs, nailing all the gaps, and unlocking stuff. Skate was fun for a while, despite battling the god awful controls and irritating camera level, but failed to keep me wanting to play it.

The world felt sterile and lacking character, and the most fun I had with it was taking turns with my cousin in a competition to get a high score in bone breaking in a certain area. We picked a rather steep hill with cars travelling up and down it, then took goes at riding down and crashing into a car travelling the opposite direction.

Broken Skull is 3 points, all other bones are 1 point, and broken balls are 5 points. We kept a tally, I found riding down laying face first on the board then crashing into a car at terminal velocity was quite successful.

I'm actually happy if they'll do a tony hawk 2 remake. Man, that game was perfection. Once they introduced walking... everything else after was a bit garbage...

You're not wrong. Wow. I think it's pretty safe to say Tony Hawk now has full-blown canon fatigue: It's gone through so many incarnations that every fan has their own notion of what Tony Hawk is.

I've changed my mind. It's flat out time to retire the brand. Tony Hawk should be put down.

this, found the controls in skate far too irritating to ever bother finishing the game. i actually never got sick of the tony hawks games, probably because the last one i played was thps4 ages ago.

Skate's controls are way better as it involves some level of skill to be able to play unlike the button mash fest that was TH. It at least provides the player with some sense of realism but if it's not your cup of tea then your entitled to your opinion...

Rather then kick flip+Christ air+Indy+1080+nose grab+hard flip to fs board slide to 50-50 all in the one go. Sure it was fun in the late 90's early 00's but haven't we progressed from that?

Although I would like to see a remake of 1-4 in HD but realistically they could/should probably just kill the series off.

I don't like realism in skatboarding games. If I want realistic skateboarding I will learn to skateboard for real. Not saying that applies to everything that's possible to do in the real world, just skateboarding games and maybe other tyoes of games.

As for us progressing past that, realism is one of my problems with games and gamers these days. There's far to much emphasis on realism in gaming.Don't get me wrong, I like realism some of the time but for the most part I want to play video games that are as unrealistic as they can be.

Pretty soon they'll get so realistic you'll have to start nudging the board to get up onto footpaths, and for the first few hours you'll just be riding around your patio trying to do ollies until you FINALLY get up the courage to pelt down that massive hill behind your house only to get the wobbles, fall off, and walk home bloody.

Then you do it all again.
