Let's hope Patty gets some solid minutes this year.
Great start to the year for Orlando. Looks like Vince Carter has it in his head to step up big time this year, that can only be a good thing. And it looks like we have an even stronger second team coming off the bench. Bring on Miami!

Wow, Miami ruined Orlando today. Some what different team that played against Boston. Maybe I was too quick to judge, after all it was only one game against Boston. That scoreline with Orlando was some what larger than I expected considering Orlando was showing some form going into that game.
Another awesome display of defeat from Detroit, twice now, grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. _________________

Yeah I was hoping Orlando would put a dent in the Heat, but that was just embarrassing. I'm not a fan of Howard's jump shot, at least not as often as he was taking it. Once in a while maybe, but he's far more effective attacking the rim. It's only the second game of the season, but already I can see Atlanta or Miami stealing the division crown from us. Here's hoping I'm wrong.
Portland are looking good early too.

I'm glad the Blazers kept Mills. He played well for Australia (and is keeping my sister's friend out of a starting spot lol) _________________

Who's that?
Still early in the season, but it's great to see the Hornets playing so well. I've got a soft spot for them, they were the first team I supported way back in the days of Alonzo Mourning, the original Charlotte squad. CP3 is on song.

Liking how the lakers are going thus far.
Kobe seems to have recovered quicker than everybody expected, underlining the champion he is. It's been great to see Gasol and Odom really step up as well, and to have Barnes and Blake coming off the bench has been awesome. Can't wait until Bynum comes back. Hopefully he can stay fit. _________________

The talk of the town is Detroit! 2 wins in a row baby! Almost over shadows those 5 straight losses, but lets not dwell in the past. West Coast road trip coming up, lets continue the streak!
2010/2011 NBA Champions! OH YEAH! (I have to believe it's true, it's all I got) _________________

After watching today's game, there's no way that Miami can match up with Boston. The Heat guards can't handle Rondo and Ray Allen - Wade can only mark one of them and LeBron has to mark Paul Pierce - and Miami's bigs aren't too great either: Okafor and Milsap completely dominated the Miami forwards. When Mike Miller comes back they might have a chance but that game for 3 1/2 quarters wasn't very good for a Miami team that's touted to be better than 72-10.
And Chris Bosh is clearly not a 'Superstar' - he was just a good player playing on a bad team where he got to pad his stats which makes it look like he was a good player. He just looks completely lost out there playing with this Heat team where he's not the focus of the offense.
That being said, the two games on today were great games to watch and thoroughly entertaining. _________________

^ Mate how funny is it watchng Miami stink it up against Boston 2 nights after blowing it against Utah. I mean if Okafor and Millsap are putting those numbers up on you there's trouble.
Boston are a better team, forget this team of champions non sense. If Boston stay healthy Miami won't get through them.
Any good point guard will have a massive day against Miami right now. Loving it. _________________

^ I love it.
There was a stat during the Boston game where PGs have had at least 12 assists during each of their losses. That just shows shoddy defense right there. _________________

Miami defensively aren't that bad, apart from the point.
Put a good point guard (rondo, williams, CP3) and they have nothing. This shows with 2 losses to boston, and a loss to the jazz and hornets too.
Lamar Odom said through the week that the lakers strength is their time together. Although they have new additions (steve blake and matt barnes namely), the core group have been together for years, and with Artest now in his second year, and Bynum still to come back, they're looking the goods so far. _________________

Chose a good day to say that, Suns torched the Laker D today. Was amazing how PHX continually had wide open looks from 3. I was pissing myself part way through the 3rd when they's hit something like 3 #17. We got smashed on the boards yet still got the W
And Nate Miami are not strong with the D, Bosh is only servicable, and Anthony/ilgauskas at Centre aint going to stop anyone decent. _________________

Exactly. Like I said earlier, both Milsap and Okafor went off against them - Milsap posting a career high and Okafor shooting 12-13. Haslem is probably their best defensive forward but even then he's undersized and able to be exploited.
BTW welcome back to NBA relevance Richard Jefferson after a terrible first season as a Spur. As a Spurs fan, it's interesting to see how we're no longer one of the top defensive teams in the league (which was something I've always liked about this team) but now one of the higher scoring teams. We've got the talent to shoot the lights out and it's a testament to how great of a coach Greg Popovich is - instead of being stuck in his old ways, he's seen the strengths of the group and harnessed them appropriately. Go Spurs Go! _________________

What? The 9-1 San Antonio Spurs who are tied for #1 in the Western Conference? This is the best start we've had in years and for everyone who called us a boring team who only focused on defense this year is a big turnaround as we're second in the league in scoring! And how could you not be impressed by putting the clamps on Chicago in the 3rd quarter yesterday limiting them to only 12 points enroute to a win?
I digress... I'm very disappointed with the Clippers. They've got some talent on that team but they just can't put it together. Eric Gordon is really good and Blake Griffin, if he doesn't submit to the losing attitude of the Clippers could very well be rookie of the year. Here's hoping they put up a fight against the Pacers today. _________________

Having been a Spurs fan for almost 20 years now (geez I'm getting old), I have been surprised with their start. I think if they start losing though, they will get rid of Parker, assuming the rumours of him cheating with Brent Barry's ex-wife are true.
Never thought I'd say this about a 9-1 start but it's such a pity. A slow start would have made them consider pulling the trigger on Parker. They have decent guards to replace him and could have got something real good in return. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

I hate the Spurs and refuse to say anything nice about them, despite how good their start may be and the fact they've stopped playing boring basketball.
Looks like I'm outnumbered on this one, just by having you two here though.
Good win today by OKC at Boston without both Durant and Jeff Green, massive effort. _________________

There's just one problem with the Spurs right now, most of their wins have been against losing teams. They've beaten OKC and Utah, that's good, but they haven't played the Lakers yet, and the team they've lost to? The team that's ahead of them on the ladder.
If they can get over the defending champs, either home or away, then I will consider them contenders. Right now, they've had a good run against a mix of poor and decent teams, but no-one I would consider championship contenders ... not yet anyway.
I reserve judgement, however, until after tomorrow's game between the Spurs and Magic

So the Heat have dropped 3 straight and again look to be unable to stop anyone on the inside - Dwight going 8-13 and Bass going 9-12. Also helps that JJ Redick scored 20 too. So for them to beat 72-10 they need to go 65-2 the rest of the way. Not happening.
And the Spurs managed to come from behind to force overtime and win their 11th straight game. Not entirely the best performance against a sneakily good Timberwolves team - especially with Love playing the way he is and Beasley playing well (except for this game) also. I think the biggest help for this Spurs team has been Richard Jefferson grasping the Spurs playbook a lot more and getting points when we need them. Here's hoping the success continues! Go Spurs! _________________

I never bought in the whole Heat going for 70+ wins this season. Apart from their "big three" they have no one else. The Heat's role players aren't playing up to standard and the 3 that everyone are so focused on aren't making them any better. The one thing the Heat does have for now, is time is on their side, Lebon, Wade and Bosh are relatively young so one would assume they will eventually get it right.
The Eastern Conference are ruled by 2 teams, Boston and Orlando, everyone else is just shuffling around for positions.
San Antonio are looking the goods right now, so early on in the season and they're riding a double digit win streak. Regardless of who they're playing the bottomline is that they're winning (not to say they have beaten some quality opponents like Orlando).
This season is shaping up to be a repeat of last seaon where the Western Conference teams would pretty much beat up the Eastern Conference. _________________

Good ol' Tim Duncan, still putting up good numbers. Posted a triple double yesterday for another Spurs win.
I wonder how LeBron's return to Cleveland tomorrow will go. If the Heat lose, it'll be one of the best things to happen this NBA season. _________________

I'm watching tomorrow, not that I'm a fan of either team, but to see what the Cav fans response is like. It could either be the worst even in the world, or one hell of a game. Either way, it'll be interesting.

You want to talk about streaks, the Mavs are on one hell of a streak - 12 straight games now. The south west division is going to be pretty tight this year. Hell, the whole western conference is pretty much going to be tight.
Good ol' Detroit, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. 25 point lead to be turned into a 4 point loss. YEAH! Two words for the end of the season - lottery time. _________________
