From rumour to reality. Its a great time to be a fighting fan!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJzMvu-GbRo

Updates from event hubs:

Quote:
Confirming the rumors posted the other day, PlanetXbox360 reported that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was shown at Capcom's Captivate event in Hawaii.

There's an embargo on the details, so you won't be seeing screen shots, movies and other things until early next week, but here's the notes they were able to get together.

• Confirmed characters so far are Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm and a few others will return.

• The Marvel vs. Capcom 3 development team said they will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters this game includes on the disc.

• This will be another 2D fighter — gameplay-wise — but will be something of a cross between the original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 4.

• The rumored release date is late 2010 or early 2011 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, no plans right now for other systems.

• The game will run in 1080p resolution.

• It will be a disc-based release.

• Apparently the game will have unlockables again.

• Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be playable at this year's E3 which is held on June 15 - 17th.

Wow, this is completely awesome. I always felt TvC didn't get enough love but this is great news.

Yeah I feel the same way. TvC plays just as well and has the the vs feel, but people dismiss because it isn't Marvel. Its nice to see MvC finally getting a new game since its been around 10 years since MvC2 came out. It'll be nice to get something somewhat new and I wonder if the hardcore MvC2 fans will be on board with this if its not as broken as their beloved game.

Lastly, commenting on the graphics, it seems like its a mix between SFIV and TvC, obviously with a more western than Anime look since it IS Marvel.

CvT was great for me specially cause im really not into marvel. Im more excited on seeing which Capcom char will be included.

I have a feeling that most if not all from CvT will be in it such as Frank West and Zero.

Hoping Dante from DMC
phoenix from ace attorney

make it in. What about you guys

The Tatsunoko line-up was pretty cool anyway. It would have been nice to see some Neon Genesis representing, but no biggy.

TvC is as close as we've gotten to MvC until now. Hopefully more Wii owners pick it up as its super rad.

no EatChildren, the biggest omission from TvC was definitely Samurai Pizza Cats, and that's coming from a really big NGE fan

Interested but I'll reverse judgement until I see what direction they take.

I didn't play TvC (I probably will one day when it's dirty cheap). Mainly because it's on the Wii and the online is crap.

Oh my GOD I agree with you. icon_surprised.gif

If it doesn't have Zero from Megaman I'll be pissed. I'll actually be able to blame Capcom this time as well, unlike the Samurai Pizza Cats exclusion which was Tatsunoko's fault.

Quote:
The game is set for a spring 2011 release date on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

• Right now the development team is looking at having about 30 characters — or so — in the roster.

• Seth Killian said that fans can expect "a healthy dose of new blood" when it comes to fighter selection.

• It's a 3-on-3 tag team fighting game, players build their own squads and uses Assists as well. Very similar to MvC2.

• The title uses an advanced version of Capcom's MT Framework, which powered Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2.

• MvC3 has aerial combos, hyper combos and other original gameplay systems.

• The game is officially titled Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.

• The goal is to get 100 pieces of music in the game, that includes old favorites, new tracks and remixes. The 'Take You For A Ride' song won't be returning, at least, it's not planned right now.

• There are no plans for an arcade, PC or Wii version.

• The team behind this wants this game to have a strong storyline.

• Development started on MvC3 in the summer of 2008.

• The art you see below are actually in-game character models.

At least it looks like at least a year away (gives us time to sink our teeth into SSFIV). Sounds pretty good if development started almost 2 years ago. That part makes me the most excited i.e. not a cash in from the success of SFIV.

This game REEKS of DLC content already. MvC isn't a game about balance, so I don't think there will be any issues with release paid packs of characters.

Yes they're going to AMAZE us with 26 odd characters LESS then Marvel vs Capcom 2.

I am amazed, but not in a good way.
