Nintendo 3DS Thread

I'm not sure. should I pick it up straight away or will it be blitzed by upgrades? I bought an original DS and still have t and not upgraded. But I wonder if newer versions will include something that I really really want.

Its a tough decision but I think I'll go with an original, just like I did with the DS

I'll be picking it up on day 1.

I doubt that there will be a redesign this time around anyway, as the 3DS is already roughly the same size as a Lite. The only reason they redesigned the original DS was because it was just too bulky.

As for adding new tech, what else could they add? I don't think there is really anything else they need. Better camera, slightly better screen? Not really worth an update.

This is painful... I'm leaving in Feb and i won't be back til the end of next year (which means i get no games all of next year...)... and NOW all my fave games come back..
i'm gonna come back and have to spend like, $2000 on video games Including the 3DS and all the games i want.

Just watching the show again, and I lol'd when Saints Row came up on the screen. The crowd reaction was priceless.

This is without doubt a day one purchase. I did it with the DS and the Wii, that's how much faith I have in Nintendo products of late. It feels fresh and original, looks good and although the online videos can't show the 3D effect, what I've read has built up my confidence in that area. Plus, Kid Icarus and Mario Kart!

It's funny, as soon as Microsoft and Sony catch up with motion technology, Nintendo turns around and pulls out the NEXT big thing. Yeah, Sony are developing 3D too, but that's the old glasses wearing way. This ... this is different, and I can't emphasise my excitement.

The amazing part is that the 3D tech in the 3DS is arguably better than Sony's 3D TV's. The latter have the advantage of being MUCH bigger and outputting at a higher resolution, no to mention the overal power of the PS3, but the former doesn't have to halve the lighting to get the effect, so you dont end up with a duller picture that you do with the TVs, and you dont need glasses.

This thing is going to sell so amazingly well. I need money so I can pre-order.

Do want, but not day one. My DS doesn't get enough love at the moment so I'll wait until I move back to melbourne and start riding the train again. Also, I'm pretty sure there will be a refresh which I'm happy to wait for. Besides I don't have the money for everything thats come out of E3 strait away.

I certainly hope that people weren't seriously hoping that Nintendo could defy the laws of physics and make the technology its using to make it work for people with bad eyes.

Anyway, I have decided to buy an original blue one and sticking with that through out the 3DS' shelf life.

3 things I don't like are in the design.



It's in 3 layers, none are a consistant colour and all the sides are uneven.

Don't get me wrong, it's a day 1 purchase from myself. I bought the phat DS and that design was a shocker.

I don't get why the piece with the top screen on it has to be Black while the rest of it are those sexy colours (especially those orange, purple, etc preview ones we've seen).

...actually, I do get it, its so Nintendo can milk us with 'good' colours later. But still...

I actually like the design... and the black screen, i think it's a very good stylistic choice. For me it was like, the bottom is not important, and the closer it gets to the glorious new screen of 3D, the closer to black it gets cause it's SO awesome it removes colour from it's surroundings in order to use that to increase the awesome factor....


I'm getting this. one day i am getting a 3DS

What would make the 3DS even nicer is if the top screen was even larger. The current design has the top screen as only a bit bigger than the touch screen. It kind of looks like it needs to be higher positioned too.

Still gonna buy one no matter wot
