Has anybody seen what the prices on Games On Demand are compared with the rest of the world?
SFIV and RE5, for example went up tonight @ 69.95. In the UK, it's not even 20 quid. That's just insane.
I would be tempted to pick up a couple of titles from there. But at those prices they are generally $40 more then what you pick up them up for second hand.
Does anybody actually buy any of these games? _________________ Shin J Leon.

There are some games on there that I would instantly snap up IF they were at reasonable prices... they aren't so I won't. It's a shame too because they could throw a few of the older, harder to get titles as downloads for cheap and everyone would win.

I'm serious here: Write to Microsoft about this. Try to get others to do so as well. I'm guessing that there's not a huge amount of sales going on behind GoD, and if marketing can make the case that a reasonable price drop will result in a large sales increase...

The prices are an insult. You have to much money or really lazy to get something from there. _________________ XBL - myzz

I would e-mail Microsoft to get the ball rolling, but common sense is something that simply cannot be taught.

grrrr.... digital distribution!!!, I hate when Aussies are worse off in it as well. Thank goodness it totally hasn't totally replaced hard-copies yet.
Isn't it's the publisher that drives up the prices, not Microsoft (unless MS is the publisher?), like in steam, Valve doesn't have control what the publisher wants to charge but they are still often blamed for not putting their foot in when it does happen (like Borderlands publisher when they found out Aussies were taking advantage of the cheap price through steam) so I'm pretty sure it's the case in the Marketplace. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

There are a few $29.95 - $49.95 games i'd buy instantly (even though the disc releases are really $20 - $40 at stores like Big W, JB Hifi etc).
The main thing stopping me is the "cost" in terms of bandwidth usage - i don't want to chew up 4 - 8gb on ONE item.
They are good when they are reduced or have a special promotion, for example earlier this week i snapped up the PC version of Batman: Arkham Asylum under the GFWL banner, as it only cost just a shade under $23 - paid for it with some of the unused MS Points i had on my XBL profile. Again though my main hurdle is DOWNLOADING it - 8gb (2gb a month, so i'll play it in 4 months time j/k).

Never bought any GoD, I must say I'm spewing I missed out on Batman AA on sale the other day though.
I wish I could digitally import from the JP marketplace. Raiden IV and Shooting Love for 2000 msp = win. Even with JP ms points & NTSCJ console it doesn't work, Somehow you have to change you ip adress to trick your xbox into thinking you're from Japan. _________________

Pretty sure it would be Microsoft, I remember a couple of XBLA games released at the start of last year where the developer wanted the games to be sold at 800 points, but due to the outstanding quality of their games Microsoft chose to sell them at 1200 points. Must try and find a link to back that up though.
Surely Microsoft should be well aware of the rrp of the games on their own platform, so they should offer them at digital distribution with prices starting at least $10 below the retail price due to the money saved on packaging and distribution, and the fact that it can't be resold.

MS arent stupid when it comes to profits.
"Hey make it cheaper and you will sell more"
"Oh yeah, hadn't thought of that...genius"
They must be selling at that price.
But i agree 100% they are retardedly priced. Plus they should have brand new games up there the day they come out in shops, that would be tempting for many people no doubt. _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

Those games are way too expensive to buy. They really need to do something about it. I cant imagine that they are selling too many of these

Hell no, WAY too expensive.
Guess if you lived in the desert/outback or something with no way to a game store, or ebay...... Antarctica? Say?
Just no. They need to drop to a reasonable price. _________________

Meh. I just skip caring about this and buy the games from the UK or Play-Asia. Saves me the massive download, the HDD space AND about $40.

I saw on a forum that GoD Fable II in NZ was $100 NZ. I thought that was pretty damn funny. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Well look at the price for Cod 2 - http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-AU/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802415607d1/?of=7
$50!
I agree the prices are retarded, but my biggest worry would be that downloading a game like that would mean my hdd would be full (so if i wanted to install another game, i would have to delete the GoD; which would mean i would have to download it again later)
Edit: Some more prices
Dead Rising - $50 - 6gb download
Test Drive Unlimited - $50 - 3gb download
NFS Prostreet - $50 - 5gb download _________________

See I would buy Dead Rising and TDU in a second if they were about 20 bucks. The download means nothing to me (I have 150GB limit) and HD space is negligible (120GB HDD) However I'm not paying 50 freaking dollars for games that old that I don't even get a physical copy of.
