Turning on my PS3 today, I can't connect to the PSN. I keep getting an error saying that I gave been disconnected when I try to sign in. It seems to be a common problem at the moment. The worst part is that I can't even play White Knight offline as it does a trophy check when you start up the game! It just says that the trophies failed to load and to quit the game using the PS button. Heavy Rain gets the same error. Crazy. _________________

Disable the internet connection in the PS3 network settings. I never have my PS3 online and my games don't give me that error >_> _________________

That did nothing... Even worse, I just noticed that the listings for both White Knight and Heavy Rain have disappeared from my trophy collection! What the?
Edit: From Gamefaqs:
| gamefaqs wrote: | It seems that this is what's happening:
-. Some PSN server crash.
-. It mess up some ps3s which were connected to it, corrupting trophy data, theme, and date. Reports have shown that people are getting 12/31/99 or 1/1/2000 as their current ps3 dates.
-. Since some games check for trophy data before starting up, even if your ps3 goes offline the game will no longer work. You will need to re-sync your ps3 trophy before you can play the game.
Might be a good idea not to be connected to psn for now. |
The date thing happened to me! My PS3 thought it was January 2000. _________________

That's very, very odd...
But even so I think it will rectify itself when the network is restores. As for your games not working offline I think it's safe to say thats related to your missing trophies >.> _________________

Yeah it seems so many people are suffering from this. I'll probably stay off the PS3 until the problems are fixed.
Edit: Apparently people who bought Wipeout HD off the PS, have now had it turn from a full game into a demo. _________________

The US PSN store has recently had a design revamp, so perhaps it's happening to the Aus store as well and causing some issues. _________________

you cant play anything you have already earnt trophies in - this includes single player games like heavy rain.
this only affects Ps3 fat owners, the slim models are unaffected.
It has lead to the corruption of trophies, DLC and premium themes.
it is also bullshit _________________

Looks like this is a major league issue. Trophy data is being corrupted and error codes are flying out the door and being deliever to fat PS3 owners.
Im reading it is some error bug in the trophy server related to the date changing from the 28th of Feb to the 1st of March. For whatever reason, it's ignoring the slims and attacking the fats, rendering them pretty well borked for the present time.
As the owner of a fatty, Im staying way offline for the time-being until this is sorted. _________________

Wow, reading forums before playing a game can be a double-edged sword eh? Last week I had Heavy Rain spoiled, this week I potentially saved my Trophy data from being corrupted... _________________

Im not sure it can be saved. More I read, the more this sounds like a OS/firmware bug. PS3's that have never been connected online are dropping like flies around the world, all due to this date stuff up.
It's corrupting trophy data because of the date on the PS3 dropping back to 1999. Not sure if a simple changing of the date manually will fix this, but its only affecting fat PS3's. That said, the effect is massive. You can't play any game you've earned a trophy in. Online or offline. _________________

I figured I'd try booting up my PS3 and having a look (Just couldn't help myself). Changed the date back (It had reverted back to 2000) and started Heavy Rain.. Corrupted Trophies. Whoops.. >_>

This is the biggest stuff up I have ever seen!
Presumably the only way they're going to fix this is with a firmware update but guaranteed there are many people out there who can't download a big update and use a USB device to get it onto their PS3 either because they don't know how or they don't have fast enough internet. Not to mention the countless people who will now turn on their PS3 and simply not know wth is going on.
This thing be huuuuuuuuge. Im not even gonna try playing any games until there is a fix for this, I don't want to lose my trophies D: _________________

Apparently. I really, really hope our trophy data isn't gone for good. I will have lost a lot of trophies otherwise. _________________

So if you were to turn off you modem and router and boot up the PS3, would you still get the corrupting error? I can't see how that would be possible given that it sounds like it's a signal from Sony that's borking machines. How can that happen if you're not connected to begin with right?
This doesn't sound too promising regardless. I was so close to booting up Heavy Rain again too. Dodged a bullet there. _________________

This isn't a PSN issue. Repeat, NOT a PSN issue. Unplugging from the network won't do a thing. The problem is with the PS3 itself, either hardware or software. _________________

Hey Guys. I am on of the PSN moderators and I can confirm that there are issues with the PlayStation Network at the moment that are affecting both offline and online play. You won't really be able to get online until the issue has been rectified. _________________

Im online with my PS3 at the moment, so thats not entirely true.
I risked turning it on, nothing happened at all...although I seem to be one of the lucky ones. Seems like 4/5's of fat PS3's are down. _________________

My system is affected. What a pain. Heavy Rain is doing some install thing now, which is weird because I played the game last night.
I hadn't earned any trophies on it either. _________________

I love my PS3, but I imagine this is a sentiment being felt across the globe right now. What a monumental stuff-up. Sony had done such a great job to swing momentum towards their way and this happens?
Ouch. _________________
