Any interest in this? I really enjoyed the first one, I found it quite the relaxing experience (except for the American car challenges, where the dodgy handling nearly got the better of me).

Ok having played it for a week now.....a few things....while i enjoy it, it has some problems....
The BAD
no fucking bikes! after driving around for ages it suddenly dawned on me that i had not found a bike store.....because there aren't any....DLC later (yay for removing half of the fun i had in the first one and making it dlc, that's progress!)
It has some issues at some points with the graphics pausing while the game engine continues to calculate you driving down the road.... inevitably leading to you running into something at high speed.
Frame rate is a problem in a few areas especially when 8 other people are online in that zone...the frame rate can dip quite badly.
The completely unnecessary tv show style the races are presented in, with an annoying woman crapping on before every race, dragging out the time to start each race to about 10 seconds rather than the 3 countdown.....utterly pointless and annoying after a few races.
I seem to recall playing all of the first one from the cockpit view, i find incredibly hard to play from the cockpit in this one
Disclaimer: it did get a patch last night when i put it in, but i didn't play it for very long so some of these issues (except the fucking bikes) may have been resolved
The GOOD
It looks nice enough and the addition of what will no doubt be known as noob island is good (ibiza)
The car handling is fine and more in line with actual driving
The amount of races and other things to do is acceptable (just, for something so large)...
This probably sounds a lot harsher than it is, as i enjoy playing it just fine, but those niggles have made it probably not as good as the first one and i find that fairly criminal these days.
all up i would give it a 6/10 which on my scale is, it ain't crap, but it ain't that good either.....it could have been a 9 game easily if they thought about what they were doing a bit more, a lot of the game sounds great on paper, but it translates poorly out in the wild.
(it didn't do itself any favours when i realised their was no fucking bikes in it either)
edit: oh ffs cockpit is censored....golf clap.... _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

hmm, thanks heaps for that.
I've been looking for personal feedback on it.
Is this on console or PC? _________________ XBL - myzz

A decent impression there Fetid. I was never a fan of the bikes so that aspect at least doesn't irritate me. I also plan to buy the PC version (so I can play it in 1080p on my Telly =D), so hopefully the performance issues won't be so bad.
One thing: I have no plans to play this online at all, will I suffer for that? _________________ My Photos

no problem not playing online, i did notice yesterday while playing with some mates that you do get a fair bit of xp for online stuff though....would be hard to crack lvl 60 without going online put it that way.
my version was the 360.....they seemed to have patched the video pausing while car keeps driving thing though.
I tell ya though, that woman announcer before each race drives me nuts, and that would be all versions _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

I was really looking forward to this, having thoroughly enjoyed TDU, but then I read all the complaints on the TDU2 forums. In a nutshell, (apparently) graphics are better, everything else is a bit of a step backwards.
More specifically:
- dash cam no longer adjustable
- front windows are tinted, making dash cam almost unplayable when night-driving
- driving physics are dumbed down and more arcade-like
- NO FREAKING MOTORBIKES!!
That's what I read anyway. I hope they fix this stuff, I loved the first game because of the awesome interior cam and the semi-decent driving physics. How would you compare the driving physics between this one and the previous game Fetid? Could you also please (when you get a chance) confirm if the dash cam is now adjustable after the patch? (in TDU it was 'seat position')
I was also annoyed to find that on the night before I planned to purchase the game (within 24hrs of it's release), there was already 9 separate DLC packs available for purchase from the Playstation Store. That just reeks of greedy to me. DLC should be to extend the lifetime of our games, but a lot of devs just look at it as another way to fatten the wallet. It's a system that, while sometimes convenient for the gamer, it's just being abused more and more by developers/publishers.

And at this point, the servers are busted and you have to disconnect your machine (ps3/xbox) to be able to play it at all.....bravo
The car physics are more realistic, more braking before a corner.
Dont think dash is adjustable, makes it impossible in the supercars, you can see a quarter of the road.... _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

Well, if they fix the problems with the dash cam, I might get it.
Man... first GT5 and it's limited roster of premium vehicles, now this.

Yeah as I say, a lot of it is great on paper, not so good in the wild....good to see others share my opinion of the announcer.
One guy said, you forgot the mini game where we get to smash her head through a windscreen, hee.
Definitely still can't adjust seat _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

okay so the challenge editor is fantastic.....i have often wondered why other racing games don't have something similar, others have tried, but this one is great....and that comes from the simplicity of putting arrowed barriers covering the road you aren't meant to go down......other games that have tried this usually have a lit up arrow or a giant force field, where as this takes the simple, lets make it look like a track approach, which works brilliantly because you feel like the track you made is a part of the actual game rather than something from a tacked on editor.
Also you can set a prize pool, and entry fee into your challenge, so you can set the prize to say 50 000 and say people pay 500 to play it, the entry fee then adds onto the total prize money, with the best time taking the prize pool home, won 100 000 yesterday from this type of challenge.
Love the challenge editor....they got it completely right. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

I'm absolutely loving the game, but geez the bugs are out of control! I can't access half of my TDULife, can't join others games, and the worst is that the casino isn't working because 'can't connect to server'.
I want to gamble myself silly, dammit!
Once they get it up and running it's going to be great, but this is probably worse than the Fallout New Vegas release bug crisis.
Loving the cheeziness though. The camp and dissociated voice acting just adds to the lols.
