The big things for me have largely been mentioned, but just to reiterate...
- a 'real' world. Thats what I loved about Wind Waker, the map was huge, and there was some sort of area to explore in each section. It definitely encouraged exploration, which is what Zelda should do. That being said, so many of the islands in Wind Waker were boring. Areas like this really need to be more interesting than 6 nearly identical dice shaped rock formations or something. Mini towns, secret dungeons, whatever else.
Also along these lines, I would probably go a Galaxy inspired route and make the whole world a sphere, so that when you finally do reach the edge of the map you don't just hit an invisible barrier.
- Better rewards. Everybody is mentioning it, but rupees, rupees and more rupees are terrible rewards. Wind Waker had more collectables at least (the various feathers and trinkets and whatever), which is at least better than everything being rupees, but still, not really what I want. The way I see it, something like Twilight Princess's (spoiler?) Double Hookshot is perfect for something like this - its not a 'new' item, so its not a super significant reward, but you could litter the overworld with places only it could reach, that when you have the original you're left trying to work out how to pull off getting from one to another, somewhat ala Metroid. Other systems that could/should be stolen is Minish Cap's kinstone system, and Wind Waker's item trading thing. Anything, really.
- Finally, the last one, I'm really not sure of, but its the way the dungeons work on that 'one item found in the dungeon to solve every puzzle in said dungeon'. I don't really like this integration, I'd prefer dungeons to work on all the skills you've earned to this point....
....BUT then on the other hand I'd also like to see a non-linear approach to dungeons ala Zelda 1, where I have somewhat of a choice of which order I tackle them. And I'm not sure you can build dungeons for that approach built on the approach I listed before, as you wouldn't know whether or not to integrate certain items as player A may have unlocked them before hitting the dungeon while player B might not have. So I'm not too sure what to do here, but at least switch up the structure a bit. _________________

I really don't know why more games haven't done this. It seems like such a simple solution to invisible barriers ending the world. Maybe it's too much of a technological challenge for a large map? Wind Waker really needed this, but I guess you didn't travel the entire planet, so it wouldn't have made sence (even though it would have been cool). They did set sail and found a mainland at the end of Phantom Hourglass, so I guess it wouldn't have made sence.
I like the idea of non-linear progression of dungeon's, but I too have no idea how that would work. There's nothing more frustrating than getting to point in a game that you don't have the tools to beat yet, but have no way of knowing that. _________________

I don't believe it either. They are telling us, they haven't even got the main mechanics/graphics/style/vibe etc down, and we're expecting it is coming this year?
Unless, at E3, they lied, and it is completed and comes out a week later! _________________

Yeah, we're going to get Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, and Zelda Wii, all in one year. Yeah, definitely going to happen. Definitely.
Definitely. _________________

I'm definitely sceptical of a 2010 release too, it seems way too soon given the lack of information on the title. They were able to hype Twilight Princess for a couple of years before it was released and even then it underwent changes in release dates a few times and of course an adaptation for the Wii. _________________

As much as I'd like a 2010 release date, I highly doubt it. But hey, maybe Nintendo can knock our socks off. After all, "it's been in development a long time." _________________

Very good find plazma All of that written there doesn't seem too outlandish so there may be some truth to it after all. I like the idea of you playing as the Hero of Time, it once again gives a bit of contiuity to the series beyond the usual "set 100 years after game x" rule that seems to apply to follow-up Zelda games _________________

Yes, it does. I also like the idea of playing as the hero of time.
I also like the idea of NOT being in hyrule AND time travel. (Majoras Mask flashback), i do hope the storyline characters and side quests are more like MM, in my opinion they were possibly the best of any zelda. _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."

And it seems there a now more rumours. These aren't the ones posted a while back, these were recently posted only a few days ago.
Information can be found here: http://www.zeldainformer.com/2010/05/more-zelda-wii-information-leaked.php
These are the current rumours in summary:
| ZI wrote: |
Link will be replacing the bow and arrow with a crossbow.
Game is all but finished. Putting on final touches.
There will be a playable demo at E3.
Time travel does occur and it happens through the use of a new blade. (not the master sword)
Link's hometown is much bigger than in previous titles.
There will be several "Majora's Mask" esque sidequests.
Character interaction will be more involving than in any previous title.
The dungeon field dungeon method is changed, and one of the changes confirms a straight dungeon to dungeon portion of the game.
The current name of the girl in the picture is Adelle.
Combat is extremely fluent and innovative. No previous Wii title can give you a good example of it's unique style.
The game relies heavily on sword combat versus other items.
There will be less items, but they will be used more frequently.
There will be another main weapon added for an alternative combat style.
The game will feature significant portions of flight.

It sure is; I remember when Ocarina of Time was billed as being a launch title for the 64.

I think the screenshots, while sorta cel shaded and everything, actually look pretty good. I'm not waiting around when this is released. _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."

Miyamoto said it was a homage to impressionism, and you can definitely tell. I like the style a lot. _________________

It's way too similar to all past Zelda's. The same weapon sets with the whip nothing but an improvised hookshot. The new flying beetle is nice but after all the hype about making a change in Zelda I was stumped at how similar it is to all the older ones.
The art style was nice but not digging the neon mushrooms and bright levels.
Waggling to attack will get annoying (just like in Twilight Princess) and only exasperated by the unresponsiveness during Miyamoto's demo.
I know I sound like I'm hatin' but am just wanting the change they were promising. _________________
