Not the Juno team really, just the screenwriter of Juno also wrote Jennifer's Body.

I just watched Se7en for the first time since it was released. I cannot get over how similar Heavy Rain is to this movie. The weird mutilations, the general mood, even the haunting music are so similar. David Cage must have had Se7en on endless loop during Heavy Rain's development...

I'm yet to watch Se7en, but I know that alot of Heavy Rain's idea's also came from Zodiac and quite possibley se7en also.

But after that comment, I'm even more keen to put it on, as I love Heavy Rain.

Se7en is one of the greatest films of all time, oyu're doing yourself a disservice by not seeing it.

Maybe this will be an unpopular comment, but I hated se7en. It's one of the most over-rated movies ever.

I just didn't think it was that great when I watched it. The twist at the end was, I thought, fairly predictable, and most of the rest of the movie was just... meh.

Can I ask when did you watch it?

Se7en is highly regarded because of how unique it was for it's time - no other film was as gritty or harsh as Se7en and it's since inspired a number of series (just take a look at Saw).

Well, that would probably explain it. I didn't watch it until a good number of years after it's release.

Personally I still think it holds up today but I'd find it tough to say it's an all time great.

Pretty much agree with you.

I watched Se7en today (for the first time) and while I thought it was brillant (esp the last 45ish mins), I wouldn't call it an all time great. Do I think its overatted, maybe slightly. But it was a great film none the less. The whole grittyness and rain really made the film and I thought the acting was pretty solid all round. It did certainly remind me alot of Heavy Rain. And it really makes you think about the 7 deadly sins in everyday life, we as a society are constantly comitting them.

I'm certainly glad to have watched it and have it apart of my collection, but I prefer Zodiac still.

It's one of those movies that if you go into it after hearing how amazing it is you will be disappointed.
If you went in knowing nothing about the film it blows your mind.

Maybe, I still think a truly great movie lives up to any hype without dissapointment, so this failed in that regard. Still good though.

See Zodiac is awesome because it's true, Se7en can't really live up to reality because you know that it's all make believe. The Zodiac killer existed, and was never caught; while there were plenty of people authorities had their suspicions about (the main dude at the end of the film being their number one) it could never be proven.

Also for a serial killer film Zodiac is leaps and bounds above the rest, most are very b grade, but it had much better direction and an awesome cast backing it.

I watched two films today

Due Date
Eh, don't go into it expecting anything amazing and you won't be too dissappointed. It's alright, but Zach seems to sort of force on some of his acting parts, and there were no overly comedic segments (which would seem to be an ideal aim), and some laughs were acquired cheaply. All in all, not a movie worth watching at the cinemas, at least in my view.

2.5 Stars

Solanin

I was surprised with how good this was. I wanted to watch a movie at the Japanese Film Fest to see how well i understood it, and that particular film seemed to slot right into my schedule for the day. With music as the main focus of the plot, the two main characters find themselves in a struggle with the modern-day lifestyle, quitting their boring everyday jobs with no idea of what's to come. Basically, it gets rather existential and is not one of those cheerful everything goes right movies. It seemed to appeal to me in the way the 500 Days of Summer did, it was a realistic adaptation of how some people get by.

4/5

Wasn't it done by the same guy as Se7en though? And Se7en had a pretty fantasti cast.

One day I've gotta finish watching se7en, I've tried like 3 times and the dvd's are always without fail fucked and crash half way through.

Oh, by serial killer films I meant ones about real life serial killers. My bad. Generally they're pretty terrible (though The Stranger Beside Me is another good one) but Zodiac was a massive exception which I'd say is due in no small part to being done by Fincher.

The Last Exorcism
Cinema Release: 9/10

This movie starts out innocently enough though quickly descends into one of the most frightening films I have seen of late. My girlfriend was properly freaked out by the end. Truly excellent, unpredictable and awesome. Dont let the fact that its a handy cam movie turn you off.

Most highly reccommended.

Ah ok, yeah definitely fair call real life serial killer movies suck. Though I did see a pretty good one on Bundy. Can't remember it's name though.

That might be The Stranger Beside Me (which was about Bundy but told from the perspective of his co worker and friend... Ann Rule). Was based on the book written by the afore mentioned woman.

Or it was the other one, Bundy, which was ok and very true to the source material, but it devolved into a bit of a hammy slasher flick about halfway through.

Haha I think that was the one, I mostly remember the first half of it were he's going around with his arm in a cast and shit. But yeah now that you mention it the last half of the movie was him chasing a chick around in the forest and it was pretty bad. It's been a while since I saw it.

Haven't really had the chance to watch alot of movies lately, due to my increased work shifts (I work all day shifts about 5 times a week) and also that I watch more TV shows. But anyway, the latest films I've watched are Inception, I Love You Too, Donkey Punch and Valentine's Day.

Inception was alot better then I though it'd be, I love all of Nolan's films but due to the huge hype I lowered my expectations so it didn't disappoint, but man, this was awesome. Probably one of the best films I've seen for a while, the hype is to be believed! The thing I liked was that it wasn't as complicated as people made it out to be and it was a great film overrall.

The other 3 were a load of crap icon_lol_old.gif I was expecting good things from I Love You Too, but it started off okay, got mediocre and had one of the worst endings I've seen on film for a while. Donkey Punch just sucked and Valentine's Day was generic crap. Love Actually was a million times better.
