http://www.ps3center.net/news/2076/killzone-2-scores-its-first-perfect-score/
It's from the Official PlayStation Magazine US, receiving a perfect 10/10 (although multiple people claim to have the magazine, scans are yet to come in so don't take this as gospel). And before anyone claims "omgz official PS3 magazine wait for real reviews", they have given PS3 exclusive games the following scores:
Uncharted: 8/10
Heavenly Sword: 8/10
Warhawk 6.5/10
GT5P 8/10
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift: 6.5/10
Haze: 5/10
Lair: 5/10
Resistance 2: 8/10
| Quote: | "The buddies alongside you in each battle have been expertly tuned to provide just enough cover and support to actively get your back on occasions, while never making it feel like they could acchieve every objective alone."
"...the believability and consistency are hallmarks of the Killzone 2 expereince. None of the circumstances, weapons you find, locations you visit, or frankly any of the details in the world feel arbitrary. The world is consistently realized in its unappealing flavor."
"...filled with moments that can handily be described as awe inspiring."
"... bots in offline multiplayer perform pretty well."
"Without a doubt Killzone fans, action, and shooter fans of any stripe will isntantly tag this sequel as a powerful contender for the best game of 2009." |
Cannot wait. Post any further reviews in this thread. _________________

Now, let's hope there is split screen offline with bots.

Great now I have to go back and complete Killzone 1 to prepare for this.
This game looks very, very impressive. I bought a PS3 just in time.

Bots? That's all I needed to hear. I was always looking forward to this game (how many PS3 owners aren't), but if this game has split-screen as well as the bots (like KZ1 did), I'll be very happy. Local multiplayer with mates > online multiplayer. _________________

Wow I'm amazed, you finally got it right after the 19th time. Who woulda thunk it to have a single discussion thread instead of 18 other threads of clips, screenshots and minuscule pieces of information.
btw, the games does look pretty sweet _________________

Indeed. Even I'm interested now >_>
It is a disgrace that more games do not have bots. The defence from fanboys everywhere is "but you can just play online" but I can assure you, I find online to be boring and crap, and offline with friends + bots is a lot more fun to me. Plus, it is not hard to program a bot, developers are just too lazy because most people will accept the game without them since Halo got away with it. For shame, Halo! Dastardly, cheating Dark Bots in Perfect Dark on the 64 = bliss.
But you can't really trust a perfect score from the official magazine of the platform the game is on, now can you? _________________

Definitely looking forward to the game. I'd like to see a review nearer the time of its release, it'd be hard to test the online out when no-one else has the game.
It does seem a bit dodgy that it was the official playstation magazine that reviewed it. _________________

I've yet to finish Killzone 1 as well (Last chapter), it had horrible pop up texture issues but decent story.
Killzone 2 looks insane tho but i hope the environments aren't all industrial looking not that its bad but its nice to have a change of scenery.

Some posters over at NeoGAF have December builds of the Killzone 2 single player campaign.
| Quote: | FINALLY
Killzone's intro was my all time favourite, I think I've seen it at least a 100 times. But this...oh my god, they topped. Everything. I'm only at 3 hours into the game but...it a new kind of FPS. Sure, scripted as hell like COD4, but the atmosphere, the weapons, and of course, the graphics... can't find words.
It could have been a mediocre at the best with all this hype and expectations after the infamous video, but it's really an AAA game. I'm not sure yet that it's classic or anywhere near that, but Sony must have really pulled all the strings to make it happen. |
Sounds like they like it. _________________

I think it's been confirmed that the game is going to have custom soundtracks. Plenty of sources around that back this up... so something exciting I guess. I know a lot of people would rather listen to the music that Guerrilla will provide, but playing your own music sometimes is never a bad thing. _________________

I don't know if it's worth a 10 yet, but I'm still looking forward to this game. _________________

Why would you want cusom soundtracks for a set-piece driven game? Unless you mean multi-player?
I thought one of the billion updates allowed you to have custom soundtracks in the in-game XMB now? _________________ Shin J Leon.

the developers still need to implement it into their games, so maybe sony have just made it easier to do or something...no idea.
but it kinda makes sense if a developer wants their music played in the game to set the mood they just dont implement it.
the only time im really interested in it is in arcade type games or something like high velocity bowling when you are playing with friends, also online if im not using the headset but otherwise i find it ruining the games mood because usually the soundtrack sets up the mood of the game.
apparently with killzone 2 it has a 90 minute musical score so i would of thought they wouldnt want custom soundtracks in the game. _________________

Guerrilla said a while a go that they were supporting it. I guess they're just doing it so that they can provide to both lots of fans. Those that do prefer the atmosphere of the game's music and those that like shooting enemies with one of their songs playing.
I agree with you though john mate, I do think it's weird that they would implement it on top of that 90 minute musical score. _________________
