I hope so too, but i'm pretty confident I'll have it on Thursday - its getting delivered by FedEx. I alway choose express deliveries, because I'm such an impatient bastard.

hey guys..just wondering. I ordered my copy from Play-asia on oct 15th.
With the 5-15 days delay before shipping. How long did you guys have to wait before it was shipped?
I'm just wondering cuz it's been 5 days..and i'm really anxious haha.
It's my first time with play-asia so i have no idea.
I also took the fast UPS 1-4 days shipping to CANADA.
Thanks for your info in advance!

Depends on stock levels. Took about 4-5 days for mine to ship.
Mine still hasn't arrived but I'm patient enough to wait for it - already have a ton on my mind and plate to deal with. _________________

When I get the 5-15 day thingy, it sometimes ships on 5 days and other times have been over a month.
I'm very unimpressed with Play-Asia at the moment. We ordered the day the pre-order was available (August sometime, I think) and it shipped on the 9th of October. This was days after the release date, and alas it still isn't here. Meanwhile I ordered a copy from VG+ the day before release and got it like a week ago.
Add to that, the many times Play-Asia has decided to split orders and send them a day apart in satchels after I have upgraded postage to a box to prevent damage, items going 'missing', and generally taking ages to send things that are supposed to ship within 24 hours. _________________

wow, this makes me worry somehow. If you guys that pre-ordered are just now getting your stuff i probably won't get it for quite a while.
Do you think it's better to have them change my order to the deluxe ed. ? (that one is supposed to ship in 24h)..or just order from somewhere else and cancel with play-asia?

My copy arrived from VG+ on the 20th October. Very strange though; I was home at lunch time - no delivery, after work - no delivery, when my brother got back from TAFE at 8:30PM - no delivery, when I left home at 10:30PM it was on my front door... ?

I just received my copy from Play-Asia just then. It came in a small cardboard box. The box wasn't damaged but the artbook had a kink in the bottom right corner, so it was probably already like that when they sent it. Stupid idiots....prob won't wanna order any games w/ preorder artbooks from them again.

Even if there were to be local servers there'd be no one using them. It's pretty rare to find someone playing anything on PSN other than a FPS. _________________

I received mine today too in a cardboard box from Play-Asia.
Fortunately it was in perfect condition, just kicking myself that I won't get a chance to play it till later! _________________

A BOX JUST ARRIVED FROM ASIA AT MY MUMS PLACE. Just got home from picking it up. Hmmmmmmmmm: What could this be?
HELL YEAH!
Cannot wait to DIE TONIGHT! I hope this game is not too hardcore for me. The quality of the artbook, strategy guide and casing is amazing. Good job Atlus.
That's a nice shot of the soundtrack and art book opened on the last page with a side shot of the deluxe packaging. Happily report no damage, also took 6 working days I believe, cheapest method too. Pretty decent.
Now for the pain......... impressions much later. _________________

I don't think you need to post impressions, the game has been out elsewhere in the world for close to a year now.

MikeZombie777: I think we all like to contribute a small bit from each of our impressions as part of the fun and community aspect of this forum. Sure you can read reviews but people tend to have very unique tastes and specific questions that can't be answered by standard review(s).
Besides, it's fun and optional reading.
Anyway, spent 5 or so hours last night. To start with the packaging is beautiful, full color and smells great. Fully worth grabbing the deluxe for those sitting on the fence.
The strategy guide offers a fantastic starting guide to the game which feels good to read in such a lush, colorful book format. The text is layed out well and a quick glimpse through it seems this game has some extreme depth and challenge for completionists. The item lists are well presented and look extremely detailed and handy to have in book form.
I created a lady hunter, Violet, and found her to be quite nimble and handy with the shield and axe/bow combination I have going so far. Made it through tutorial and into the nexus and beyond.
I have taken a lot of advice and read the survival guide that comes with the deluxe so thought I was well prepared for the challenge in this game, and to a certain extent I was, in area 1.1, then I died right at the top of some stairs (after the trap) and have no idea how large these areas are but even when cautious and wary, was pretty awesom to actually die so early in an RPG (haven't played anything lately where you cant revert to saves, not die much and where the game is extremely unforgiving and unapologetic about it, VERY refreshing!).
As you may have heard the dark haunting music is brilliant and the art direction and graphics are ominous and foreboding.
I really look forward to an extended play through later tonight, after squeezing in some UC2 multiplayer. _________________

My thoughts exactly
I felt I was pretty good at parrying from the get go (something mastered from my Onimusha days) so I got around most of the nasties that I saw people dying at. Absolutely love the riposte killing blow animations, they're so juicy! But then I got to the top of the stairs in level 1 and took it upon myself to work out how to kill the Red Eyed Knight. Fat bloody chance.
About 10 restarts later, I've really gotten the hang of all this It's unforgiving and does not hold your hand AT ALL, and for better or worse there are certain lessons in this game that you will absolutely have to learn the hard way. Like fighting the Red Eyed Knight straight away-- ain't going to happen! | Spoiler Alert wrote: | | Unless you trick him to an untimely death by getting him to fall down the stairs...but I didn't like doing that! |
I was amazed how brutal even the first level was, and how I thought I'd gotten through the worst of it, just to be faced with a seemingly impossible obstacle right near the end. Knowing that you only have one real crack at this before starting over really gets the adrenaline pumping, it's thrilling!
I'm a bit overwhelmed by the level up and upgrade system though, and after the first level I'm walking away with about 7000 souls as a Knight (with intention to give him some weapon buff spells) with absolutely no idea what I should be spending them on. I bought Enchant Weapon and upgraded a couple of stats, over buying Heal or other weapons, as I figured I could keep using plants for now. I hope that's enough for level 2!
There's very much a feeling of walking into the unknown around every corner, and I'm finding it extremely endearing. I know I'm going to get my ass kicked and lose a bajillion collected souls followed by a fit of tearing my hair out, but I keep coming back for more!
Now that's quality. _________________

You'll be bringing the red eye knights to their knees soon enough
2 fireballs dead.
You'll find that after a while the only way you die is from your own stupidity, pretty much the only way i die anymore is from rolling off cliffs, d'oh
Windy - the level system doesn't work like that, you level up only from the black maiden, every skill point you buy is regarded as one level, seek soul power from her.
So you pay say 950 souls for one level of strength, thats one level.

Yeah I was flicking through the manual and just came across that tidbit, thanks though
What I meant before was that I was overwhelmed in the sense of not knowing what to get to best set myself up for the next level. I didn't see any immediate upgrades available at the merchant for my sword or shield, so I went with the Enchant spell instead.
I'm sure I'll be fine, but I'm guessing you get more powerful through items that drop later on, rather than through the merchant between levels, right? _________________

Most of the good stuff is dotted around behind locked gates and stuff, the drops are mainly health. The good stuff usually requires the world tendency to be pure white or black for it to be obtained.
Later on you give the blacksmith in stonefang tunnel a certain demon soul and he can then fuse weapons with other demons souls. Or you can swap boss demons for spells.
So avoid the temptation to use any boss demons souls before then _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

Played for about an hour and a half. Rolled a Temple Knight and decimated the Phalanx boss. That being said, the game is quite unforgiving and relentless.
Very nice though. Very very very nice. I've already left quite a few messages for people to be wary of. _________________
