Am I the only one who actually wants a PSP GO? Although, I can't afford it at the moment... I'd rather preorder some of the good upcoming PS3 games icon_biggrin.gif

I'll buy one eventually. This is mainly because I'm much like Leon where I buy the latest goods out. I've had a good go at it too and I like the new design and feel of it.

But yeah for the moment it's a definite no; it's one of those things I'll buy later down the track when I don't have other important things to buy. My Slim will do for now.

Normally I'd be all for people getting into a new version of a console but this just seems wrong, really it feels like they are releasing a console that does less for more as the regular PSP can do everything the GO can do.
Considering that there are rumours there is a GO in development with a UMD drive, I would just wait for that.

Why would they make a Go with a UMD drive, wouldn't that defy the point. And wouldn't a go with a UMD drive cost more than a Sony Bravia?

I still have the original PSP 1000. I like the idea of the GO in theory, but there's some things which will hold me back.

1) Price - $450 is ridiculous, I think I paid $400 for my original and it came with Ridge Racer
2) No announcement as to how we'd get digital copies of our UMD games without rebuying all of our games
3) We'd be trapped into only buying digital copies of games for the price that Sony wants to sell them. Quite often I pick up PSP games in the $25 pile at JB when there's a sale on

So I won't be buying one at this stage. I'd like the smaller unit with faster loading times and (hopefully) better battery life but at the moment if I wanted to upgrade I'd prefer to get the PSP 3000 and a bigass memory stick so I can have the best of both worlds.

I can't decide, I plan to get a PSP, but i'm not sure what a good trade off would be of quality and cost. I do have very little money so whats a good suggestion, Definately not a GO i know that, but would an original release be worth it?

I was going to buy one before they announced the spectacularly retarded price of $450 AU.

They way I was going to go about it was purchase one and then just buy a few US PSN prepaid cards, use my US PSN account and get games off their. Most of the games on the US PSN are cheaper than their Australian counterparts prices, even when on sale in retail and a fair few of them are fairly hard to find.

The other big reason is because I'm still sitting on a 1000 with only a 512mb memory card and I wanted to upgrade both of them anyway due to wanting a better screen, d-pad and more memory. Which would mean spending $280 on the PSP and just say $100 for a memory card, so if the PSP-Go had been priced at like $380 or so I would bite.

I may still import one from the US though, although that really depends on how much the white one will cost with postage added on top.

Yes, ancient technology with features removed costs far more than 360, Wii, DSi and almost as much as PS3 and yet Sony expects it to sell.

Just did a quick currency conversion, and the PSPGo is gonna sell for $250 USD, which equates to around $288 AUD at the current exchange rates.

Might be a good idea to ask my cousin in the US for a favour!

^thats absolutley crazy.. $150 price difference, in a country where broadband downloading isn't too strong and games are expensive enough.. did sony even look at our country before they decided to price or even release the psp go here..? My prediction is PSPGO will go the way of the Gameboy Micro and by xmas 2010 it will be in the bargain bin for $100 in Australia (like micro was for $50 at targets bargain bin)

Yeh i cant see it really taking off here.

- Too expensive for parents to buy it to throw in their kids school bags.
- Too expensive to have no tangible games - our internet fails in australia.
- Try convincing parents theres double the value of a DS in a PSPGO.

This one will be a miss i fear and in a world so obsessed with handheld console revisions i feel it will surely be amended and forgotten by the next PSP revision in 6 months time.

They did look. And they saw exactly what you said, that the Go will sell so badly in Australia, they have to charge us almost twice as much to cover some of the wasted effort icon_razz.gif

Yet another way big business cares about Australia icon_smile.gif

Well the dropped the PSP price after a week or two when it launched in Australia. I expect the same thing to happen with the Go.

Include the fact that the high price for the Go is purely because it's "new" and the price will definitely drop pretty quickly.

The whole system is basically an insult to retailers so I wouldn't be surprised if it were met with a lukewarm response. As soon as a system is sold, that's it as far as a retailer is concerned. Unless of course they are selling the games as download codes or something, but even then what Joe Regular is going to plonk down sixty dollars for a random number on a piece of paper?

I was listening to a podcast, they said. Once you get your hands on the Go! You cannot go back to 3000. The Go! is actually now portable and you can take it anyway and fits well in your hands.

Also, does anyone know if we are getting it 1st of OCT? EB Games nor JB HiFi have listed for pre-order yet.

JB actually do have it up for preorder now, as do Big W and yes it is up for the 1st of October.

On that JB ad posted above, it has listed that Skype is a feature of the Go.

I thought that idea had long crashed and burned...
