Hmm, kinda disappointing that Starbreeze aren't making it but good to hear it's in the works. I'd kinda expected the original didn't sell well enough because of how many times I've seen the game on sale for super cheap.

I played the PS3 version of the first. There are games that I thought I wasted my money on, The Darkness wasn't one of them! I have been hoping a follow up would come, so this announcement is good news for me _________________

yes, Yes, YES! There is a god. It's a shame Starbreeze aren't working on it, but hopefully they continue on from where the Best.Game.Ever left off.
I wonder what the 2nd EA game Starbreeze is working on though. From what I've heard, they're doing a new Syndicate game and a Bourne game. Does that mean EA have the Bourne license now? Or are Starbreeze working on 3 games? Whatever the case may be, anything that comes from them will be a classic _________________

There's going to be a sequel to The Darkness! That's good.
It's not being developed by Starbreeze. That's bad.
Still, it's a sequel to The Darkness! That's great. _________________

Why not wait till you know more about the game instead of just ASSUMING it will be crap just because it's going to be made by different people.

I'm a bit sceptical about this on a number of counts. Firstly, without Starbreeze being in the lead, but more so, I wasn't a fan of the first, although my brother absolutely loved it. Having fought with the controls, by the time I reach the WWII level, I packed the game up in disgust.

The Darkness was awesome because it had an inspired studio at the helm, delivering an interesting mix of (servicable) shooter and adventure elements. At best, the sequel's going to attempt to trod a similar line, and whilst the fiction presents some exciting potential, without the finesse and experience of the original developers I don't have high hopes.
Have a lot of faith in Bioshock 2, do you? Another landmark title being followed up by a rag-tag bunch of whoever-the-hell. Very similar situation. Video game equivalent of a direct to video sequel.'
Also, this is the internet - official outlet to impulsive, arrogant snap-judgments. I take exception to your tone, sir. _________________

Never cared about Bioshock (played the demo and while alright, wasn't purchase worthy for me) and I don't care about Bioshock 2.
Oh and just like do don't like my tone, I didn't like you post hence the reason I replied to it.
Like you said this is the internet so why not say how I feel about your (or any other post) post?
ANYWAY, lets not start an argument.I didn't like your post and you don't like my post, lets leave it at that

First Crackdown 2 is being developed by another studio, and now the same is happening with The Darkness.
This had better be worth it, ie at least Telltale in terms of quality. _________________

The timing of this news was just about perfect seeing as I beat the game two nights ago. Those final 5 minutes were fantastic.
While I'm happy to see a continuation of the story, Starbreeze not developing is a bit disappointing. Those guys are probably one of my top 3 favorite developers. Nobody combines story with gameplay as well as those guys and The Darkness was all the better for it. Whoever it is that ends up taking the helm for the sequel have a hell of a lot to live up to.
And I really hope they scrap multiplayer. What a waste of effort that was. _________________
