Honestly I can’t play fighting games on a stick at all. I grew up playing on a d-pad and can barley even pull of a hadouken on a stick.
The analogue stick works far better on say a charge character on SF then the d-pad though. _________________

If you used a stick for a day, you'd never go back. Tapping and charged based fighters become weapons. _________________ Shin J Leon.

i always used the analogue stick for fighting games on my 360 . but then again, i pretty much only played charge characters. the only thing that would really get to me at times was the down back block crap only recognising down because i was half a degree off.
anyway, i kind of doubt that these sticks will include sanwa parts... _________________ 360 Gamertag : NoodleLover09

I was useless at TimeZone, couldn't pull off moves in SF or MK in my early years. Yet i was able to do it at will on home console versions with the d-pad of the snes and sega mega drive.
I had no troubles using the psx/ps2 and now ps3 controller for fighting games, i can use the dpad or analog stick and get the same result (mayhem).
On the 360 it's a bit mixed, i'd resort to using the d-pad full time if it wasn't such an annoyance (too stiff). As such i've adjusted and can use the analog stick for most fighting games (Virtua Fighter 5 was the only one i could barely play).
I have the tank arcade stick and it's a world of difference. Love playing SF IV with it.

huh? FPS with d-pad? Good luck with that.
I could 19/20 ha-do-ken with the 360 d-pad. Maybe 17/20 yoga flames.
It's really not that bad. I'm just saying, I think it gets a bum rap. But in general, any d-pad is inferior for fighting games.
Anybody who uses a analogue stick on any controller for a fighting game should be shot also. |
May I ask why? I just got SFIV and have found it a little easier using the analogue stick??? I suck anyway _________________

It's all personal prefrence to be honest. The D-pad is a bit more precise though. But if you're comfortable using the analogue stick go nuts.
Suprisingly though Guilty Gear Arc on the Wii works brilliantly with the analogue stick. I was prepared to go and buy a classic controller to play it with since I thought it would be rubbish. But yeah works great. _________________

Precision. The analogue sticks aren't designed for digital movement. Having the analalgoue stick from one side to another is really sloppy.
Having said that I think SFIV any other games is pretty tolerant if you are using the analogue stick. I think it's design to give the player a bit more room to make errors with commands.
If you don't plan at being really hardcore though you'll be ok. Charge based fighters aren't that bad with the analogue stick. Although circle based fighters may be a challenge. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Zhou, like Leon said before, for the price tag of $150US I don't think it'll be a real good stick. I'm pretty sure the SFIV Tourney Edition is much much better. But my old HRAP3 screwed up a while ago, and I'm not looking to buy a new stick. So I'll be getting this Collectors Edition Bundle. But it's wireless *jizz*. _________________

Thanks for the update. I hope they don't go overboard with the downloadable costumes, as in charging lots for a new pink t shirt for Bryan lol. _________________

Same. But these customs aren't DLC, only the Yoshi palette swap is a DLC Bonus so far. _________________

Oh ok, I get what you mean.
Off topic for a second- I just got an Easycap + other cables needed to record my ps3,360,dvd etc. So now I can effectively record our Tekken matches and put them on Youtube. It works all good with what Ive tested so far except its annoying switching from hdmi to composite each time just to record while playing in standard definition (ewwww). _________________

Beautiful! Hop on now, I'm getting the Tekken itch. Even though I just came back from the arcade LOL!
@Zhou
Nah bro, I'll be pre-ordering it from EB Games. I asked and they said they should get the pre-order for the Bundle sometime next week. _________________

Sounds good. I'll definitely get it from Eb as long as it has decent CE stuff. _________________

That's odd, that's how I used to pull up the XMB with my PS2 control.
