Ok guys, had an interesting idea but I am not sure if I will have any takers.
I am thinking of setting up a Steam gifting group whereby you add other PALGN members as friends and then somebody (in this case, me) starts the ball rolling by buying somebody else a game they think they might like (no more than about $20).
The recipient of the gift then buys the next person down the list something they think they might enjoy (and of the same value) until it works it's way to the bottom with everyone giving and receiving.
Obviously the problem with this is that it requires you to put your trust in a complete stranger who might not continue the chain.
However, I would be interested in giving it a go and am willing to be the one who does the first purchase.
If anyone else is interested in the idea then post in this thread and we will set up a group and a purchase rotation etc.

I'm not exactly sure how the gifting system works as I have never done it myself, but if Steam does not recognise that the recipient already owns the game then it might be handy for them to post a list of which games they own.

Very nice idea though! Reminds me somewhat of a sensical and backwards pyramid scheme (more like a straight line, really (or circle, depending on how the original gifter ends up!))

If you try to gift a game, it brings up a list of your friends and says who owns the game.

You can see a list of friend's games through Steam, which would be handy to help you pick something that somebody would be likely to enjoy.
If people are concerned about whether or not everyone will pass on the gift etc. I am sure we could restrict it to people who have a certain number of posts or ranking on PALGN (would likely exclude me lol, but as I said, I'll go first).
