On Friday in Ballarat there is the Ballarat GIG, it's a local event and PALGN would love for someone from our community to go up and cover the event. We'll provide the accomodation & you'll have a chance to have your work published.

You will be expected to provide 1000 words on the event and take pictures, we'll shout you a game of your choice and your work will eternally be on PALGN.

If keen, please simply reply here. It's in Melbourne. Any questions? PM me?

Ballarat is a good 90 minutes by train north-west of Melbourne. Not a huge place, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding your way around there if you decide to go. It's one of the state's larger rural towns. You can get there on a V/Line train from Southern Cross Station if you don't have access to a car.

If I still lived in Melbourne I'd be all over this. I'd encourage others to grow a pair and have some fun. Not often a chance like this comes along, and there's a free game in it for you too.

I'm interested in this, and I have absolutely nothing else to do on Friday. Time, place, people, dress code, lipstick optional?

I don't have a fantastic camera, but I do have a digital camera to take snaps with, it ain't going to win any awards but it can get the job done.

Who knows, maybe I'll develop a flair for game reporting and start up my own website to become the number one site in Australia for gaming news... PSYCHE! I'm hilarious, I know.

We used to DREAM of living in a sleeping bag, in my day we had to make do with a hole in the ground.

I can go as well, although as if I write, I mean I butcher things enough as it is. Training it in from Spencer would take anywhere from 50 odd minutes to almost 2 hours depending on stops for anyone taking that route.

Oh our family would've killed for a hole, we had to fit into a shoe box all twenty six of us, and then dad would wake us up an hour before we went to bed by lashing us with his belt!!!

Monty Python Rocks...

And on topic, I wish I could go, but living in Sydney seems to put a stamp on that.

Thanks for the opportunity guys, should be awesome fun. Throw me all the details tomorrow or something so I know where I'm going and stuff, oh and when should the writeup get to you because I should be able to do it tomorrow evening, but if I get held up it'd have to be Sunday.

All done and dusted, I have to get ready for a lighting gig this evening so the writeup will be done tomorrow.
