Great review, Luke.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, too. I was hoping it wouldn't change too much from RE4, I swear Daddy would have cried.

Doesn't seem like I'll be any better at it though, masses of zombies/mutants tend to lead to a well-timed freak out on my part. Sorry in advance to anyone playing co-op with me.

Sheva sounds utterly painful to me. Also, as fun as co-op is and blahdy blah, they dont have to jam it in every game made now, therefore changing the level design to suit 2 players, i would have preferred to go around by myself in the campaign, much like why i liked Halo and didnt like halo 2. In halo i felt like i was trapped and alone bar finding some cannon fodder marines around and i think that helped that game enormously. Made you run around with marines the whole of number 2 (and 3) and it felt like you were just another guy making up the numbers.
I think developers need to consider the effect all these modes they shove into games these days against the feel of the whole game.

The biggest fault with Resident Evil 5 is that it doesn't do a whole lot different from its successful predecessor.

For me personally that's a positive. I don't mind more of the same awesomeness of RE4.

RE4 is one of the greatest games of all time, so it was always going to be hard for CAPCOM to reach those heights with RE5.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, too. I was hoping it wouldn't change too much from RE4

Spot on Charly!

Nice review.

Now instead of an RE6, hopefully CAPCOM can remake RE1 and/or RE2 for the 360 and PS3.

I played the demo and the controls just blew it for me, as far as I was concerned the game was completely unplayable. Unless something was changed from the demo this is a no buy for me and given that I usually buy 2-4 games per week and loved RE4 on Wii that should really say something.

The controls are terrible and Sheva ruins it. There should be an option to not have her.

Huge, huge disappointment.

I literally just finished RE4 about a week ago, and I don't think I'm ready to play through the same thing again. Especially going back to stick controls.

And the whole co-op thing annoys me. There's no way I'd be able to play through the whole thing online, and having to deal with her as a single player sounds like a pain.

Too bad I suck at all Capcom games. Literally. I guess its the way people rave about the REsident Evil series that keeps me coming back.

The controls just dont do it for me.

i have neither the time or the money for this one. i started my play throughs of the series last year and got to number 3, i gotta knock off that one, 4, zero and project veronica before thinking about investing in this one. But after playing the first quarter of number 4 i am still pretty keen to get into this, i just need a refresher course in zombie killing.

Just canceled UBER EDITION.

Waste of money, now, for RE5 bargain roundup? I want both standard versions now.

The JB one has a figurine right? And tin? How much?

@The Genious, would be great but since the Wii is getting all the cheap remakes its probably coming to Wii.

Rumours suggest Code Veronica is coming to Wii, announcement on the 14th i believe

JB has a figurine for pre-orders only, but you might be lucky and have a store with left overs. STD edition @ JB is $99 but they also have a "trade 3 games get RE5 free" deal.

The tin is a collectors edition, not a standard. You only get the figurine if you pre-order so I would hurry down and pre-order if I were you. They do state 'while stocks last' so you might be too late anyway.

I've managed to control my hype for this one until very recently, now I can't wait to get my hands on it. A game that plays similarly to RE4 in HD sounds great to me.

If you're curious, the Figurine is 7". You get 1 of these 3:
Chris
Executioner from demo
Sheva

If you're a fan of collecting figurines/action figures and want to save yourself around $70(Which is how much it'd cost to import one from play-asia...i got bored once and checked the estimated shipping price -_-) Hurry up and pre-order. It doesn't matter which version you get(Steel box or standard),You will get the figurine....provided the store has them that is.

Demo didn't impress me.

Hate Shiva. Hate that she's wearing a little purple cleavage top to go on a zombie-hunting mission.

For me it wasn't so much the controls but the controller. I loved RE4. Gamecube controller FTW!

Too many games and too little time. Gonna hold out on this one.
