Ok instead of me talking about it in every single thread and i am sorry about that i thought i would create a topic for everyone to talk about what there doing and give out encouragement! I go to the gym 5 days a week 3 days for cardio which is about an hour long 30 mins on the walker and 30 on the x trainer! 2 Days i am just doing weights nothing major just to build up a bit and yeah it does get me shaking and sweating a lot. This is what i eat every day:

Breakfast: 3 Scrambled Eggs plus 1 slice of wholemeal bread or oats

Morning Tea: Protein Shake or Yoghurt Diet

Lunch: 100 g of chicken or steak + salad

Afternoon Tea: Protein Shake or Tuna

Dinner: Steak or fish or chicken 100 - 200 g + vegies

Yeah thats what i have every day and yes its very very hard when your addicted to food. Yes i said addicted to food i really think people can get addicted to food like alcohol. I know for a fact it was so so very hard last Sunday when i had my relatives over and they had like a Christmas feast i decided to stick on my diet and not have everything..... Later that night i was really depressed because i felt like i missed out on food if you believe that. So yeah this may be a stupid topic but i think it would be awesome to encourage everyone in here and mind you i have received heaps of encouragement from everyone which i so appreciate.

Ohhh i forgot i currently Weigh 136.9 I was 139 when i started! Yeah i have a long way to go but i will do it..

I don't really have a set diet.... but I just eat Lunch and Dinner, cos I always sleep way past breakfast lol...

I've been hitting the gym every day or two. I do about 30 min on the treadmill, and 30 min of weights every day.

Currently as I have said, I have lost about 13 kilo's since December.

I need to lose another 7 kilo's to get to a nice safe spot im happy with on the Body Mass Index.

But yeah pretty much I've moved from XL sized clothes, to Large clothes. Which is awesome icon_smile.gif

Too bad that cereal, rice and pasta are all carbohydrate heavy and turn to fat without exercise.

I was doing pretty good, eating well and all that jazz, and then when on a bit of a weed binge during the holidays that turned into a killer weight gain formula... Eating a lot, especially when its crappy, unhealthy food and doing nothing but sitting around with mates watching movies/tv and playing games is... yeah...not good. If anyone here is overly skinny and wants a way to put on weight, my advice is to smoke weed 4-5 days a week for the better part of 2 months.

On the plus side, now I've stopped smoking completely, my appetite is gone and I can go a day or two without eating and not be hungry. I mean, I might eat like an apple and drink some powerade and that'll be me for a day. Too bad it'll be back to normal in a week or two...

I just wanna say....Well done Itachi for taking the steps to losing weight and being so open and honest about it.

I used to weigh 116kgs, but went down to 80kgs in about a year.....5 yrs ago.

Since I've started gaming, which was about 1.5 yrs ago, I've gained weight and am now 95kgs. So I'm doing something about it before it creeps up to high.

I stick to my meals.

Breakfast: Muesli or 2 eggs with toast and Juice

Lunch: Tuna on Crackers and Fruit with water

Afternoon: Fruit and water

Tea: Meat/Salad or Meat/Veges and water

I also exciercise daily, eg Walks, Weights, Circuit Training, Tennis etc. I have to say it feels great to be doing this again. I love fitness and feel better for not eating junky foods.

Food is an addiction and I love food, but release I can enjoy it in moderation and don't need all the junk all the time. So eating well and excercising daily makes a huge difference and I'm glad I'm getting back into it.

Keep it up Itachi and I wish you all the best, as I've been there.

That pyramid is outdated icon_razz.gif, 5 servings of vegies and 2 serving of fruit a day. And personally, I do not recommend that many servings of rice and pasta since yeah, as Sinthesys said about carbs.

Just letting you know, I LOVE FOOD!!!, put me on a diet with bland food and same food everyday and I'll scream. I recommend the following
- replace oily deep fried food with not oily deep fried food (like from fish and chips to teriyaki chicken and rice) since there are heaps of tasty non-deep fried food out there if you know many different foods. Then again, I'm scared of KFC after not having it for a while, it was greasy and ewwww!!! *shudder*
- learn to love drinking water (it does taste good after a while, lol)
- no snacking and avoid having food with you (like popcorn in the cinema, you can't often control your hands digging into it and eat but if it not there, then you can't eat which is why there is no food at my house, sigh)
- no dessert after dinner only if dinner was light for the purpose of having dessert
- in special occassions like christmas, I would limit to at most 2 plates of food for dinner and 1 plate for lunch and eating slowly do help reduce the amount of food you feel like eating
- salad for lunch? (ewww, I hate salad, hehe, salads can be bad because of its sauce).

Well, that's mine daily "diet" (I hate diet!, I eat whatever I want dammit!). Works for me. I gained 10kg in a year and then when I go to the doctor for missed periods, I found out I had excessive amounts of male hormone which was the cause for that stupid weight gain. Since being on medicine, my weight has been dropping, woot! 1.5kg in one month (and yeah, didn't change my exercise habit).

Edit - forgot exercise, which is just window shopping around the city for hours when mum kick me out of the house or walk to and from uni.

Good idea Itachi.

I've been on a health kick since the start of September so for me...

Breakfast: Weatbix or protein shake (shake on days I go to the gym)

Morning Tea: A piece of fruit (banana or apple)

Lunch: Plain or Chicken Salad. Or a roll with chicken, lettuce, carrot, onion.

Afternoon Tea: Piece of fruit again.

Tea: whatever my mum cooks (steak, pasta, etc etc)

eating this has made me loose 21 kilos so far. I also cut out all soft drink, and I drink close to 3 litres of water. The only problem is when I don't drink that, I get dehydrated...

Exercise wise I've recently started at a gym 3 times a week doing 30 minutes cardio and weights, and two other days a week a cycle class at another gym (45 minutes)

I don't do anything special, I eat only when I am hungry, only healthy foods with the odd giant pot of Yogo (I am obsessed) and walk the dogs everyday. Went from 100kg to 96kg in just under 2 weeks.

Bah, I'm perfectly content with my belly. No diet for me, allthough I did lose 10 Kg last year when I barely ate anything for a few weeks.

I do minimal to keep in shape. One 15 minute weight session a week, if that. Luckily I'm very slim so I tone up very easily. If I worked at it I could be 'tankish' but I'm just so damn lazy.

In terms of diet, I'll eat whatever. What I can say is an excess of asian food does nothing good for my bowels.

Weighed 64kg for years, no matter how much I do or don't eat.

That's me.

Granted, I started playing cricket again last September which has involved Saturday games plus 1-2 nets sessions a week (each lasting about 2 hours). Before anyone gets all smart arse about cricket and fitness, if you're actually playing the game properly and doing bowling training then you get quite a cardiovascular workout. I also started playing indoor cricket last week to replace the outdoor season that is just finishing. I'd never played before so I was shocked when I came off after an hour literally dripping with sweat (and it was a cold rainy night).

I've tried doing the weights and running thing before but I have problems with motivation when it's myself. I really struggle mentally to push myself because as much of a smart arse as I can be, I'm about triple that inside my own head and it holds me back from getting up and going for a run. So playing in team sports has been a huge boost for me as you get not only the social interaction of messing around with a bunch of friends, but you have them there to push you and you don't want to let the team down with poor performances. So for anyone that's like that and struggles with motivation, see if you can find some sort of team sport or at the very least just a friend to do some physical activity with. It really can make a huge difference as the psychological barrier is arguably the toughest in becoming active. Once you cross that, the physical tests are just ancillary.

Hmm I just try to space out eating alot as it helps tonnes. I usually have like

Breafast : cereal of some sort or toast

Morning -ish - light food

Lunch - fruit or whatever and usually some meat ( whether its in a pie or whatever)

afternoon - fruit

Dinner - usually a small dinner

I usually dont have too many sweet things like chocolate etc Yet my one love is coke/pepsi or whatever, i have that all the time yet i never seem to get many fillings. Also I tend to try and go to the beach at least once a week (ususally a sunday) and play tennis on saturdays train wednesdays. However in dreaded winter I have 3 rugby - 2 weights and a game on saturday so thats a bit of a strain icon_biggrin.gif

... at the moment weigh around... 65?. Its lucky because I really like fruit so yeah Ill usuaslly just have that as a snack.

I weigh 74 kgs is that much?

Anyway I eat lots of good food have lots of water and never really gained weight, but I'm not exactly what you would call fit cause I don't do much exercise which is a shame cause I was into sports as a kid, now I just watch it. I put it down to my genes, habit ect that I haven't put on weight even though by my lifestyle and eating habits I should.

My diet is
Breakfast: Sultana Bran or if I get sick of that my young sisters Fruity Loops
Lunch: Usually a cheese sandwich which is really boring
Tea: Whatever my mother makes me which is usually good, but my family never eat desert.
During the day I eat whatever and whenever I'm hungry unless its close to a meal. I think I eat healthy but I do drink a ton of coke like up to 10 bottles a week which is probably doing me bad.

I completely disagree.

I'm skinny as hell and cannot put weight on no matter what. I could eat absolute crap and never exercise and I would more than likely lose weight. Fast metabolism or something. My family members are all really thin also.

Anyone have tips for putting on weight, apart from the usual suggestion of overeating? I eat a lot of meat (including chicken) and fish.

Smoking (all forms) supposedly curbs your appetite though, so maybe I also don't eat as much as I should (and definitely not as much as most people) because of this.

Please don't turn this thread into an anti/pro drug argument. People do things because they enjoy them, deal with it.

Also, out of all the logical arguments against smoking, that was the best reason you could come up with? I mean, by your logic, drinking coke would seem silly, as you can dissolve metal in that shit.

I don't pay a hell of a lot of attention to my diet, but I generally stick to the healthier stuff (keep soft drinks, junk food to a minimum, don't smoke etc.)

I do snack a lot (case in point, it's 10pm and I just downed some toast and salami), but I suspect I have a pretty fast metabolism too, since I've never had any weight issues.

During my teen years, I hovered around 57kgs, before shooting up to 67 a few years ago, where I've managed to stay till now. Around mid last year I joined a gym in an attempt to build up some body mass (I'm puny icon_kero.gif), and it's really beginning to pay off now. Not aiming to be ferociously tank or anything, just building a bit of muscle/toning, not to mention basic fitness. After 2 months abread, I'm pretty out of it.

OK, this thread has convinced me to do it. I've got my gym membership, I've got my gym program. I've got the technology (Wii Fit). I've got the towel and gym book I got from a friend for Christmas. I'm gonna do it.

Gonna hit the gym every day I can, do half cardio/half weights. Any day I can't make it there, I'm gonna go for a run. Last resort if it's raining is that I do something on Wii Fit (which won't necessarily help, but it'll keep me active at least). Just you see, 80kg here I come!
