The King is quite an interesting character. At first I thought he was abit of a douche, but his antics are growing on me and now he is entertaining.
I'm still waiting for Eric to take his revenge, but he is waiting for the perfect time. _________________

didn't really get that but yes, the show has been consistently hitting home this season. Ep 8 gave jessica lots of screen time and it was hilarious (as it has been all season - how they ended with the angry sex btw bill/sookie). You'd think bill and his vampire abilities would be the one doing all the work ala franklin but nooooo. Eric + talbot = lol _________________

ha yes. and it was totally unexpected too which makes it all the more surreal. One minute dude was reading the news, bam. dead. And russell's going psycho on the tv.

massive departure from the books too.
i'm liking that actually - setting up their own mythology on things. _________________

Hilarious, when the King was holding that glass container with his husbands remains in it. Talking to it like a deranged person.
That TV broadcast was awesome, I like how he kept holding the news casters spine like there was nothing wrong.
I also liked how the spokesvampire for the American Vampire League is so full of s**t, lying to everyone about how she drinks Tru-Blood. At least she has excellent taste in humans, Damn!
And yes! Franklin is finally dead! Great job Jason with the wooden shotgun shells. _________________

Still behind. I last watched episode 7. The show is slowing getting it's clutches around me again by doing something I thought was impossible; making Sookie an interesting character again. I've always been intrigued by her magical hand powers so it good to see them exploring that this season. Her little jaunt in that garden was very interesting indeed... I wonder what she is. _________________

I didn't realise this week was supposed to be the final. Last week's episode, while good, didn't feel like a lead up to one at all.
This whole season has felt very disjointed, like there were a few too many storylines to handle at once. Tara and her issues, Lafeyette and his history, Jason and the mystery girl, Sam and whatever the fuck is up with him now; the list goes on. It all felt really... busy. It was hard to care too much about any of them because of the lack of focus, so I just sort of disconnected from everything and took it as it came.
It's still entertaining to watch but the show doesn't feel the same to me anymore. I'm not even all that fussed there isn't an episode this week, which is something I wouldn't have said a year ago. _________________

The last 2-3 episodes have been very weak. With the one 2 weeks ago being extremely boring. I actually fell asleep!!

F***ing terrible final episode.
Well, most of it was anyway. There was maybe about 10 minutes worth of stuff that I found genuinely interesting. The rest was garbage. I was going to break the episode down but I can't be bothered anymore. Lafeyette's stuff was sorta interesting, the rest was 'wtf is this shit'.
Very unfulfilling end to an at best, decent and at worst, terrible season. I have absolutely no desire to see what happens next, which is different... I think I might be done with this series, but don't hold me to that.
So, how about the rest of you guys? Surely somebody liked it... _________________

i did - sort of... more than most around here it seems anyway...
bleh - tried to write this without spoilers, but didn't really succeed, so i guess a warning - there are some spoilers in this post...
| SPOILERS wrote: | i thought the whole whole construction yard scene was pretty awesome, then the follow up where Bill's balls became all engorged, only to shrivel when Eric turned up.
i cheered when Pam revealed herself safe from whatever assassin Bill sent. i <3 Pam.
the Godric visions were a bit... weird.
it was very Jedi vs. Sith. i dunno, malevolent Eric is more fun than a benevolent one though, so glad the "sith" won through... for now...
the way Russell was taken down was a mite weak though - i mean i like the disposal method, but the weakening was pretty bland.
the one thing i didn't like though (and this is from pretty much the whole season), was Sam's story. it just felt really out of place from pretty much the moment his past was revealed. i thought it was good when he tracked down his folks. i thought it was good when it was revealed that they were scum. i thought it was good when he confronted them about what they were doing with Tommy, but then the curve ball about Sam's past, and it all went pear-shaped. i guess i could've looked passed it if he'd continued to redeem himself, by talking Tommy around - apologising like he did to Terry, but there's no real coming back from what actually happened.
Lafayette's story was pretty damn awesome though. |
good timing it finishing as everything else starts again though. _________________

I thought the episode started off great. anything with bill/sookie/eric/king was entertaining as all hell.
then you got to (in particular):
jason
sam
tara
and their disparate going nowhere storylines that don't scream season finale/impactful... and those bits fizzled.
the way they closed the season - thought they should have swapped the sookie final bit (which was lame) with the bill/queen fight - and have a bit more awesome in the final fight (instead of the ultra stupid jump attack/cutaway we got).
that said, its a NINE MONTH WAIT til season 4. Ouccch _________________

^ agreed about the fight.
i mean when Bill and Jessica were sparring earlier in the season, it was pretty freaking awesome, but this time we got some Neo/Smith flying bulls**t.
I liked Jason's story though - maybe because of what happens in the books, i don't know, but i just liked it. _________________

I know a lot of people hated season 2 and its maryam (?) dryad demon storyline but at least that season actually had a big bad and a cumlimination - twice. Once the children of the son storyline and then the bontemp storyline.
Someone/we've already said that last 2-3 episodes were dull/setuppy but even the finale didn't resolve or add anything. Ep 13, could have easily been episode 11/12
that said. sookie putting talbot down the food disposal unit = LOL .
I'm glad russell's not dead. Hopefully, he makes it back into the story madder and more insane in later seasons. _________________

My thoughts pretty much echo THEMAN's. I just can't believe how up in the air the finale left it all. By the time the next season rolls around I'm going to have forgotten all the little stuff they've just left hanging...

Maryann was a Maenad, not a dryad (sorry - pendantic/anal of me, i know)
i liked Season 2 having 2, almost 3, "big bads" (if you count the resolution of the Dallas vampires too.)
the problem, as i see it, with season 3, is that if the continue following the basics of the books, then it's really a transitional season. the big stuff should be coming in season 4, and when i think of the considerable airtime a certain minister received all season, there's no reason to think it won't continue in that direction.
that said - i think the direction that those elements are pointing may actually have had another book in between, so we mightn't see the culmination of that story until season 5, if the show lasts that long...
however, there's no reason to think they mightn't once again run several concurrent stories within the series.
(which should hopefully also see Russell make a return - he'd fit in well with that storyline.)
and while the Talbot bit made me LOL, it felt a little out of character for Sookie, imo. especially the taunting afterwards....
-
EDIT: i assumed that it was simply that Eric was not as weakened as Russell was. plus he'd also re-drunk from Sookie, so perhaps her blood also imbues vampires with some anti-silver, anti-concrete aura? _________________
